Udiboy:

That is a very good question.
My brother still has the papers.thats y am asking for opinions on how to go about it.
The last time I spoke to him, he was asking me to tell my brother to give him the papers.
I want to know if I can charge the buyer for buying stolen car. How u go buy car without papers?? Nobody is ready to go arrest him cos he's inlaw(hubby's older brother).
I am so angry

As long as your brother has the documents and you have the records of remittance sent to him and since you have exhausted the option of using your family to get him to repay, get the law enforcement agency involved as he committed a crime irrespective of him being family. He would be forced to produce the buyer and the car he sold to him/her. l recall a cousin my father got locked up way back in the 90's he was also into clearing and being family, my father also gave him the job of clearing the 3 vehicles (2 cars and a Mitsubishi bus) he imported from Germany.

My cousin played a fast one on my dad, despite the fact we were also based in Lagos like him. He did clear and delivered the 2 cars but started telling stories regarding the bus, giving one excuse to another and to cut the long story short in one of my father's visit to the village he found out that my cousin had actually cleared the bus, took it to Aba (you know Eastern transporters love Mitsubishi buses very much) and made a good sale out of it. My father came back to Lagos, invited him to our house and while he was there he was picked up by the Police, As expected, extended family members began to beg though he was released from police custody but it was after his parents and siblings signed an undertaking to refund the money and this they did after four months. One has to be drastic with family members to put them in check.

I like Pavore9's input. Get police involved. Police now could be your friend.

Don't call anyone that drops number here.

They see you as a potential maga for trusting your inlaw totally.

Me wey dey talk for don arrest the guy tey tey.

Na inside cell im go dey dey provide details of the "car buyer" who'll be joining him soon.

No begging will stop me till I totally deal with them cool

You are correct parvo. Hubby sent this guy 3 cars in 2013 ( 3 big buses,1. Chevy bus, 1 very clean school bus (molue ) and a Honda Accord all very clean and 2004, 2005 model. Hubby sent him money to clear all. The plan was he should Lear and sell them and take the profits but remit the original cost. As am typing this he has not given him 1naira. Hubby never really told me this cos I guess he was so shocked . But I noticed hubby dies not call him again . Well, when I gusted him what my supposed father in law is doing(in Igbo culture,if papa-in - law no dey Alice, 1st son automatically takes up that role Abi?)., that's when he told me he will get his money 1st b4 mine if only he knows how to get it. That it's so u fortunate but there's nothin he can do about it than to call him and beg him to give me back my car of money .
It's really unfortunate . This is someone that I was trying to give work. I have vowed I will get my mo eye back even if it takes a donkey years. He's a fraud.
I have been discouraged. By my relatives not to arrest him but nobody is telling me how to get my money back. Because they don't want it going round the village that I arrested him cos we are all from same villa.

l am also lgbo and know family members would always say Iwe nwanne a naghi eru na okukpu but will not provide a clear idea on how to recover the money and brother-in-law is taking advantage of that! We will always have crazy family members who feel entitled to rip us off and since you both are not in the country and your brother being in possession of the documents, it is then seen as your family vs your brother-in-law and some twisted minds from your husband's side will now take it personal accusing you and your family of sowing hatred between your husband and his elder brother....l know the psychology of these people and moreover he is the first son.

Never entrust anything monetary with him again, ask for the counsel of lawyer preferably someone from your area as he would be in a better to advise properly. lt is well.

What kind of marriage is this? Your hubby did such a financial transaction and never told you and you too you went into same poo without telling him? No trust, communication or are you guys just bed mates?

Your hubby said, actually said he will beg a diehard crook to return your money? Two of you are not seriously serious.
