The coach should not have allowed personal issues with some few players affect the overall performance of the team, the boys played well, I was impressed with the defense, the keeper enaholo should have parried that goal bound ball away but unfortunately the ball slipped through his hands. In the 2nd half the boys came out to play their game but it was too late cos the coach didn't do the needful from the beginning. The boys played well, today is just not their day. The coach destabilized everything. The battle was lost in the middle of the pack.

I think it's time to agree with you here.

Did Manu sell this match to the highest bidder? I know that even top European teams sell matches for bets. Could it be the case?

This is not MAnu, like Joseph said. He is more tactical than this. He can read games. He knows his weaknesses and plays to his strength.

He did the complete opposite in this game.

The question Coach Manu should answer is why wait until 80 mins to make his second change. In a match we were clearly dominated. Then a tactically wrong change.

He brought in Nwakali a holding/ defensive midfielder and took off an offensive midfielder in a dying minutes when we are chasing a goal.

There is nothing anyone can tell me. I have watched football for so long to know a sold match.

You think this is our worst performance? Well, i don't think so, they even play worse than this against Korea(especially in the first half), they look so bad 2day because Germany makes them look so bad, Germany are a very consistant, tactical and physical team and as we have already find out they are a team that are in form and knows how to score, just like in the group stage where they didn't dominate most of their games but still score alot of goals. While In the other hand our team haven't been impressive since the begginning of this tournament and thats the reason i have been urging our team to avoid Germany

Damn...why are you praising Germany What did Germany play in this match. Their goal was a fluke. The keeper was at fault. If the Flying Eagles we know had that possession, we would have scored nothing more less than 2 goals.

What happened in this match was that we knew Germany's strengths and weaknesses. We used our weaknesses to play their strengths and did not use our strength at all.

For Sango's sake, what the heck was Bulbwa doing in that match for 90mins. Even in the games when he was having a few touches, he was substituted. In this match, we were behind and he was offering nothing yet he played for 90 mins.

Please can anybody explain that?

This game required game changers. We had them all on the bench. Moses, Mathew, Iheanacho, Yahaya, even Chidera. Manu did not act like there was a need for them.

We need someone to call FBI to investigate this match.

No one underrated them. But, this our team is Super and we should not fear anyone. By the way, we did not lose because we met a superior opponent. We lost because the coaching crew did not do right things.

Smart coaches find a way to make the most talented players in their team perform when they are not doing so, and not cut them out completely. I'm not even sure this team would have beaten Serbia.
The player that made the most mistakes against Brazil didn't even lose his spot.

i think arrogance caused manu dis game. Maybe he and nacho have issues i wont know but any coach will make early changes in the second half when u team is poor in the first. The team needed players who would have kept possession, dribble and create chances but those players were all on the bench.

I'm sorry...alot of these players will rot in Nigeria. What would have helped them was for them to play good football that we KNOW they can play and be snapped up by foreign teams that would nurture them. We didnt do that. Infact, we played to their weaknesses.

Quote me if top teams snap up up to three of the lads playing in Nigeria after now.

We just wasted a generation of extremely talented stars.
True. The talents of most of these players would be wasted.

Thank u very much. I said it here that Manu lack football politics.
He should av avoided Germany by even trying out Nacho, Success and Moses with the Hungary match.
These 3 no matter what, av played big stage match and av better experience and confidence.
All they needed was to at most draw Hungary and avoid Germany at least at this stage. Then as the competition progress, they will grow into more tactics and experience.

We should not forget that the weather in Christchurch also counted against us, I just heard it in brilafm that the temperature was 3 degrees. Very very cold, I believe only iheanacho, yahaya and nwakali are accustomed to such weather, could it be that the freezing conditions affected us greatly? because I believe the Germans were not better save for the lone goal. On football extreme weather conditions like this affect players coming from temperate regions like Africa. I believe in this team. I love the team as always. The land is green

.... You're getting it wrong... Germany wasn't the problem... The problem is that after three matches the eagles have refuse to leave gear one....
I love it when a team fight gallantly for a comeback when they trail the game... If the eagles had lost today after a top-notch performance that would just be ok... Not this pitiful display.

You need help to realize this and stop screaming Germany... . They can lose too

Even if we are talking about weather, why keep boys who have played winter football on the bench. There is now way we can twist it. The coach has enjoyed himself. No wonder he was laughing while we were crying.

Please someone should tell me what is the essence of bringing 21 players to the tournament when the coach is only interested in his chosen ones.

Yes against Brazil iheanacho and some other were not fantastic but why no give them a chance to redeem themselves. Bulbwa started 3 consecutive matches but in all honesty this guy was always a minus one, you hardly see him on the pitch nd the coach kept on using him on every match day benching the likes of simon moses and iheanacho.

I made a comment yesterday that is the likes of Moses, iheanacho, success and yahaya that poor that they can't get a starting shirt. Is there something going on with the team that we don't understand.

our substitution was very bad, bringing in success at that time was just wrong. We needed a creative midfielder that can send the forward passes that we needed not another striker when it is obvious that they won't have the ball to score with.

Nwakali when we are one goal down and in need of a goal....Gushhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Garner experience? Do you think this is a senior w.cup? 99% of this team will out-grow this tournament when next it comes(2017), thats if they haven't outgrown it now and believe me due to their failure at this stage of the competition(r.16) you won't remember 70 to 80% of them in 3 to 4yrs time.. It won't have been like this if they had avoided Germany

I'd have to disagree with you on this.

Yes we are all not happy such a promising side will be kicked out in such a bland manner. However we all know that htis team is a very talented team and only needed their coaches to be more wily and astute to outfox all opponents in the World Cup.

Up to 70% of this team are still eligible for the next edition. The German team (oldest team in the Competition) were clearly more experienced and bossed our guys for 90 minutes. It would have been different if many of our guys have had European experience (why Manu benched Simon and Kelechi for 90 mins remains a mystery).

BTW guys like Nwakali, Awoniyi, Iheanacho, Zaharadin, Jide Idowu, Alampasu, Abdulai Alfa, Chidera Eze etc are still very eligible for the next competition. 2 seasons in Europe should toughen them up and put us in good stead to challange for the Cup in 2017!

It's a bitter lesson for Manu/Ugbade and co. but let's not throw them away on the back of this campaign. They have gained valuable experience and should they imbibe the lessons, Nigeria will be the better for it.

On a final note, I'm still miffed at Nigerian coaches (at all levels) going into competitions with just one style of play and no back up. If we had varied our style today, we might just have nicked this match. Imagine us playing 3 across central defense with our full backs acting as wing backs. Also instead of Awoniyi being the lone striker, why not put Moses Simon up there with him and play 3 fighters in the midfield (Idowu, Nwakali and Ifeanyi). Before the Germans come to terms with this new formation (they would have watched our group matches and set themselves out to counter that formation), the damage would have been done.

I'm not a qualified coach but these things are common sense!

That's why I always doff my hat to the Siasia/Kalika combo. Their tactics and formation were always spot on! Even in the friendly match they lost to Argentina in Malaysia, the Argies threatened to whitewash the Super Eagles but tweaking things around and deploying players to neutralize Messi kept the scoreline respectable.
No other coaching crew has been like that for Nigeria except for Westerhof/Bonfrere maybe!

And for the very first time in a long while we did not score a goal in regulation time, that is baffling. Even before the under 17 ayc in morroco the team have not played any match without us scoring. They are still the compact team I know. The land is green

1 goal down in the knockout stage, the coach should have brought in the needed attackers. You are in the knockout 1 goal down why not go for the kill, sub in more attackers early in the second half you don't have to wait till 80 mins to make your second sub.

No let him go. Manu can keep his bright brain to himself. If this is how he repays our support and the young players that believed in him.

Nacho should be with the main team at Man City preparing for the preseason. He is about to break into the main squad. Some even tip him to knock of Dzeko and he comes to face this.

What stops Manu from allowing him to attack for the last twenty minutes. Salvage the game and bring back the home based lads.

Awo, better sign for Esperance. Bulbwa, do not tear your Esperance agreement.

Oh, you didnt watch the game? I'm happy you didnt because this game was painful to watch.

Let me tell you what happened:

From the blast of the whistle, all Nigerian players went defensive. We hardly did anything with the ball for the first 15 minutes. We left Awoniyi to be in front with no support. Anytime Sokari got the ball, he plays it to the opponent. Our wings was so flat that when their Captain, who is the right back, gets the ball, he comes into our half to torment us. They had a couple of balls in our area and wasted them. At a time, a fluke shot was thrown at our keeper, while he attempted to save it, the ball passed between his hands over his head and it was a goal.

After the goal, we knew we needed to score so Sokari got the ball and still kept giving it to the Germans. Bulbwa was supposed to be a winger but he was often found in our own half. Savior was the only outlet who took on players but there was no support since Awoniyi is often far away.

Our midfield was completely non-existent.

What would you do when it was halftime? What would the previous Manu Garba have done? Yeah right, you would have removed Sokari and Bulbwa for a start and play pacy players like Simon or Iheanacho or Ifeanyi to help the midfield and offer respite to the defence. Right?

Not the Manu Garba of today. Guess what he did? He did NOTHING. We continued playing like we had done in the first half, this time around Germany saw that we had no intention of winning the match and came out more. Now, our goalkeeper became very busy. To be truthful, he saved alot of shots, but I'm not surprised. They are saves he should save.

So what did Manu do? Guess again? Wrong, he removed our only outlet, Saviour Godwin and introduced another striker. Now the situation was worse now that the gap between our midfield and attack became very wide. Sokari was very useless by always conceding possession and, Success and Awoniyi were very isolated.

All this while, we still had NO SHOT ON TARGET.

Guess what Manu did next? You guessed right, he removed Sokari but this time on the 80th minute. Guess who he replaced him with? YOU ARE VERY WRONG!

He brought in a defensive midfielder when you fvcking need a goal and left proven goalscorers like Kelechi, Simon, and Yahaya on the bench.

Then we played and played like that until the referee blew.

Did I say that we did not make a third substiitution? Oh, we didnt. Manu wants to use that as a souvenir.

THE END.
