Suggestions Are Welcome by mrsmith11(m): 7:23pm On Jun 11, 2015
There is a friend of mine who is in his Mid thirties,he lives
and work in the northern part but originally from
the south. His fiancee is 29,lives in the south, she is in 400level doing a 5yrs course. During xmas holiday in 2013 when my friend went home his fiancee took in before he went back to the north so they both agree to keep the baby. She gave birth almost end of last year so my friend took her away from school hostel and got her an apartment.

My friend said his salary is about 90k per month so he do send them 50k at end of the month for the upkeep of the fiancee and baby while spend a minimum of 30k for his housing, transport and feeding.

Now the problem is the family of the girl are talking seriously about marriage (paying of bride price). He is confuse that how long can he save 10k a month to a reasonable amount of money to go and do the necessary thing

He want suggestions or advice

From every indication, this guy isn't financially ready for marriage.
With the little salary he is earning he is still struggling to take care of himself, how much more when he pays the bride price and marries the lady.
Let's not forget, the girl is still in school and if he marries her, he is also going to be the one to see her through school.

They are putting too much burden on the young man. Do the parents of this girl want their daughter and grand child to suffer?
Let them leave the guy to settle a bit, then they can marry their daughter over.
Some parents can be unreasonable at times.

The guy should tell the girls parents that he is not financially stable enough for marriage. Shikena.

i cannot suggest anything until i know how much the bride price is. bride price varies from village to village. it can be cheap as 50 kobo & it can be as high as N2 million.

i need more info....

well in that situation, if the bride price is very high then the family of the girl doesnt love their own daughter
at the same time, doesnt he have a family to turn to

I don't think is possible for the bride family to shoulder most of the expenses. Moreover they are not the rich type but average class

They should consider the guy too and make it a low key ceremony. The guy should search for other stuff to be doing too. Wish them the best.

Please check my signature too. Thanks.
