I don't believe this story its either a hoax or it has been embellished. Does the girl have a prior feeling he wasn't gonna pay for the meal? That would have been the only explanation for the guy's picture during the meal.

well this is naija, not the UK. Over here, you invite someone on a date, the implicit idea is that you foot the bill, unless the date, man or woman, is magnanimous enough to take care of his/her bill.

you'll agree this is almost always the case when a guy takes a lady out.

Unlike Nigeria, the culture in the UK is that when someone invites you for dinner or even birthday at a restaurant, you pay for what you eat. Sounds odd but that's it. I once made that mistake myself having come from Nigeria but was lucky I had some change in my pocket which saved the day. I guess that was the situation the dude found himself but couldn't bail himself out.
