Before implementing anything tangible towards this, they should first lay the foundation for true economic development by investing in mass science education across Africa, else western powers will seize the opportunity to shred our economies to pieces.

I don't agree. Nigeria being the biggest economy will have to carry the burden of smaller West African economies if they go broke. Look at what is happening in EU with the Greece debt saga. A lesson to learn from and avoid going into such merger.

The first thing that came to my mind was ZIMBABWEAN DOLLARS.

RIP Great Gaddafi. I hope US,UK and France will not nuke Africa for this idea.
