All is nice except the nuclear plant. These russians shouldn't be building nuclear plants for anybody! The world is getting rid of it,we don't need it biko.wit our level of mismanagement, just one leak can even deform unborn babies from the womb, talk more of its capability falling into wrong hands. The Russians would also use their mastery of it to blackmail us in order to get our oil n gas, stop us from rivalling them in future gas sales to Europe and ultimately enslave us as they have done to Georgia,Ukraine and all countries around them.NO NO NO to Russia. 7 Likes |

iwriterng: Meaning what? how many countries in the world know how to construct Nuclear reactors, which country first constructed it and continues to construct it for many countries? why exactly shouldn't we contract the Russians to build us multiple nuclear powerplants. |

GodMode: Solid fuels are the slowest form of energy. So your coal will only be viable if converted to liquid fuel through Bergius process. Solar energy cannot be stored for long. Or have u seen anywhere solar energy can be stored in large quantity? Nope! Except we can do like Germany. Wind? Don't kid yourself, Nigeria doesn't have that kind of wind of generate the kind of energy we need. Water? Its still cool, but you can see what we faced with Kainji Dam and co. 1 Like |

VickJames:If you really want nuclear power plants so badly please let it be installed in your village. One leak from that plant would you reduce your village to a wasteland. No one will be able to grow food for hundreds of years and result in deformed babies. I do not trust the Nigerian government to manage the plant as they cannot even manage and minimize oil spills. Countries better governed than Nigeria have had nuclear leaks so with Nigeria it's not the case of if a Nuclear leak would happen but when. Imagine how devastating one would be in Nigeria. Using Nuclear energy in Nigeria would be a BIG mistake and I would rather be without light for a 1000 nights than have a nuclear power plant built in my country. 3 Likes |

bukster: It should be built in my village. I want it. I need it in my village, I swear. Because there won't be any interrupted power supply in my village and I'll have many investors begging to stay in my village. Nuclear power project is the way forward or else we will continue to cry and spend unending billions in power projects that will not last us. A single carbon rod can keep this thing from going overboard. NB: this is not 1945, this is 2015. |

This report is fuzzy; in one breath they say power via gas then in another mention nuclear power. Please we the people of Nigeria do not accept any thing called Nuclear power in our country. We are yet to manage oil spillage you now want to compound our problems. Even normal waste management is a big problem in Nigeria. 1 Like |

YoursGEJ:apart from that too, even in this unfriendly relationship Russia is having with the U.S in the international front, I don't think it will go down well for Russia to build a nuclear power plant for us. The U.S may look for ways to make Nigeria pay heavily. 1 Like |

GodMode: First and foremost, we outnumber them so 3,000 megawatts will not be enough. 3,000 megawatts for five years will not change our situation and will not boost industrialisation. Nuclear is the answer. Later, the money we get from the industrialisation of our economy through nuclear power plants, we can delve into other sources of energy. |
