PLEASE MY APPEAL TO ALL NIGERIANS IRRESPECTIVE OF THEIR TRIBEs TO please JOIN HAND WITH AKS GOVT TO FACILITED THIS PROJECT . Na for everybody abeg . HAUSAS GO WORK THERE, IGBOS GO WORK THERE, YORUBAS THE SAME. Abeg

[size=14pt]Unfortunately, those Nigerians are so tribalistically blind to see your point at all. Anything in other parts of Nigeria not cited in their village, they will do all in their power to cajole, deride or frustrate .

However, you are right, all Nigerians will benefit from this project. It will also help develop Nigeria and improve the ease of doing business rating of the country.

I still view this as another fraud like his predecessor. Just like the 2nd Niger bridge I predicted the fraud in the Ibaka project. South-south leaders should demand for upgrade of existing ports which should be far cheaper and as well urge for more utilization of the existing ports. The anti-Igbo stance of some of the host communities chased importers to Lagos and it will take years of FG intervention and good public relations to compete with Lagos.

Despite the yearly allocation of several billions of naira for the construction of a proposed greenfield deep seaport at Ibaka in Akwa Ibom State by both the State Government and the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) since 2011, the project has remained elusive, with no evidence of a port being built at the proposed site.

The project is missing in the National Integrated Infrastructure Master Plan and in the list of similar projects planned in partnership between the federal government and state government, with expectations of private investors collaborations, investigations by LEADERSHIP have revealed.

There is nothing like Ibaka deep seaport, it exists only in the imagination of the fraustars like Akpabio using it to scam billions into their pockets which he did for so many years.

Akpabio budgeted billions every year for this imaginary deep seaport, but not even bush clearing was done.

It's a scam because it's not even on the FG's National Integrated Infrastructure Master Plan.

Commendable! I preay and hope it gets the commitment and seriousness it deserves. Attention needs and have to be shifted from Lagos and other ports given same benefit Lagos enjoys.

This is the way to go. Its high time this lagos port monopoly stops.

It is extremely shameful that Africa's biggest economy has just functional port all because of tribalism. Why should intels port at Onne be concessioned to Atiku and NPA allowed him fix duty rates higher than Lagos such that it can only be economic to oil and gas businesses?

Why cant same dredging contract in place in lagos be applied to delta and.calabar ports?

Anyway, Ibom seaport is very deep such that it would not require constant dredging like is done in lagos.

I also urge the yorubas to intensify the call on other southerners to leave lagos as that will encourage investment in Akwaibom state.

The economy of the SS is about to take a new shape. Everything is working together for good.

Bro, while creation and availability of Ports are good for a country economy. It is also bad and needs to be controlled.

Even the world Greatest hub for manufacturing known as China has deliberately restricted her Port to Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Yiwu Province this goes a long way in addressing unforseen circumstances.

In fact recently the government of China had to trim down the ability of the shenzhen port here by promoting the Guangzhou province port.

All these affects the MACROECONOMIC INDICATORS / VARIABLES - (Money Supply, Exchange rate, inflation rate, Interest rate , GDP etc). And f not readily curbed can lead to a bad economy.

In conclusion, this project is Laudable, however it has to stop at Akwa Ibom. No port should be created at any other region close by to Akwa Ibom ( like Abia and likes. )

The earlier the government take note the better.

Lets get ourselves educated. Onitsha and Calabar ports are shallow water ports and the dredging maintenance cost makes it uneconomical.

Ibom sea port is the best deal and would be the deepest port in Nigeria thereby attracting heavier vessels than what currently obtains at Apapa port
...keep quiet...what make the projects or cities uneconomical?.... do u know the economic importance of a port to Onitsha as a city in the south east...the income inflow and cost from logistics they incure of Lagos to Onitsha...when u talk of maintenance is d apapa port maintained properly...mtcheew

Citing the Tin Can in lekki is not wrong. Reason been that Apapa and Tincan are over congested. Lagos needs more ports..

Do not get confused with my explanation you quoted. Am not against establishment of more ports in a state where there is need for more but against more ports in multiple states. Lagos already have Tin can island which is OVER CONGESTED, same goes to APAPA. So creating lekki Port is not a wrong move, as log as it falls within Lagos. However creating or spurring up ports in multiple states unnecessarily is a wrong move.

well nothing unnecessary about a port in ibaka akwa ibom..apapa and tincan are conjested because of the planlessness of Nigeria...if Nigeria was well planned goods entering the country and meant for places in north east like bauchi and Maiduguri and south south and south east have no biz berthing in Lagos if if there was a functional deep port around rivers, akwa ibom and cross river with good access road to it and functional rail lines connecting to it and other parts of the country

Take it easy bro, I am all for onitsha port. Infact I yelled and cried for it to come into fruition until I was educated on the challenges.

Onitsha is a shallow port.... as such those high draft freightliners you see at Apapa cannot come into the port.

Secondly, its on an inland channel and not at the sea front. As such, the regular dredging that such port would require will include dredging the entire transit channel from the closest open water and almost on a daily basis. Imagine dredging a distance like from Sagamu to Benin on a daily basis?....... that is entirely absurd.

Considering the points so far, Onitsha port is confined to small vessels and its not good business for freightliners. No one will run a small vessel with less than 40 containers across the Atlantic. Even if they attempt to do, the cost per container will be triple the cost of a heavy vessel.

Ibom deep port is the perfect option. We can have a rail line tranversing Aba and Onitsha.

[/s]witchcraftcy isnt only when you fly at night.
This part of propaganda,is what have been stalling this port,as ably champoined by Southwest, and their media.
If you are saying that a state that is more than 4million(bigger than most countries),including the large market in Abia and southeast, doesnt need port, then you must quickly check into the nearest pyschiatric hospital for proper mental check.

Brother there is no need antagonizing your own flesh and blood. In the East we are flesh and blood.
In Biafra every community is autonomous; meaning that each community has every right to dream and pursue that dream to the stars.
Unlike in Nigeria where your dreams are censored and cut down to size from far away lands of Abuja and Lagos.

This port will perform wonders if fully developed. In fact this is the most important business project in the East.
Please pray for its success.
