justwise: BTW, Justwise, my bolded statement refers to all offers(it says "these are all conditional offers"..All offers are conditional upon you providing the required documents at registration time. There is no misinterpretation of the quote. The admissions officer in that case is hitting the nail on the head. Also, no one is asking anyone to send applications that you are unqualified for: if a person does so, his application wouldn't even be considered and consequently he wouldn't be denying eligible applicants their places in the programme. Non-NC programmes are so called because they can admit as many applicants as are qualified. If 100 applicants are qualified, then they will all be admitted. If an applicant is rejected, then it is not due to the fact that none of the 100 accepted applicants turned down the offer: it is simply because he wasn't qualified. if an applicant is accepted but turns down the offer, then realize that it is not in all cases that another applicant who did not make the list would be called to replace him. TU Munich's ESPACE program is an example. They have stated clearly that if an applicant turns down his offer, then a rejected applicant would NOT be called upon to replace him simply because the rejected applicant did not meet the requirements initially. Also, it doesn't make any sense for an applicant to limit his applications to NC programmes. These are programmes that have only maybe 40 places for about 1000 applications. Who is willing to risk that? If an engineer receives a job offer from Accenture and KPMG for instance, and he is still waiting to hear from Chevron or Exxon, should he then just jump to Accenture, and tell Exxon to stop processing his application? No. Let people apply to as many programmes as they are qualified for, and let no one discourage them. If you apply to three schools and you are not admitted, you have only to blame yourself for your circumstance. 4 Likes |

Cindino20: Yes that is one of the major reasons why they want you to come and study there free and not because they are depending on you to fill the skilled job market. |
Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by lmuhopeful: 2:16pm On Jun 13, 2015 |
justwise: Brother! "Out of your reach" means those schools that are very competitive and you may not be admitted even though you meet the minimum qualifications. For example, consider a person with a BSc in Electrical Engineering and a CGPA of 3.89/5.00 and average letters of recommendation. For such an applicant, MIT EECS is out of reach(because of the intense competition) even though he is qualified(i.e meets the application requirements[both with his CGPA and other documents). Such a candidate may eventually be admitted by a stroke of luck, but it is still out of his reach. No more arguments. Guys keep applying for places that you are qualfied for 2 Likes 1 Share |

justwise: Plus the skilled Job market..Bros I dont wanna argue with you...I would ve highlighted some of the policies of the german govt that re geared towards encouragin the influx of skilled and to some extent unskilled workers into Germany. Peace Bro.. NB: Apply to as many schs as you can afford!.. |

Hmmmm.... okay this matter escalated rather quickly. My opinion, which I have said before: if you meet the requirements of 50 programs in 40 schools, and you have the resources (courier/uni-assist fees), please do apply. But if you do get admitted to the "numero uno" in your priority list, be courteous enough to inform the other 49 that you do not wish to be processed any further. Fullstop. Why all the fuss about this issue in the first place? Moving on, Eke40seven I'm interested in that language pack oh. Abeg reserve my own. I will mail you |

Dehonourable: Ma'am please I need some clarifications on this. Let's say if i wanted to apply for same Material Science course and I did the following credit units in my undergraduate: 1) Material Sciences: Material Science (3units), Polymer Science (6units) (dunno if Strength of Materials (3units) is related to Material Science evaluated courses? Total : 9 or 12units 2) Physics: Elctromagnetism and Modern Physics + Others (15 units) 3) Chemistry: Organic + Physical chemistry (12 units), Chemistry for Engineers (2 units) Total: 14 units. How then do I convert this? Or does it mean I'm not eligible lets say I wanted to apply? |

Great Nairalanders, very big thanks for everything. Just finished a meeting with my older siblings about raising the block acct cash. They arrived at a final conclusion that the money will only be ready by the last week of August. Now my in my admission letter it is stated clearly that i) enrollment period is 1st of Sept to 15th of Nov. ii) teaching starts on Oct 12th. iii) that they recommend i arrive on the 1st of Oct so I can participate in the orientation process.. Please I need serious advice on when exactly I should begin my acct processing and visa application processing in order to beat time. I need contributions from experienced Nairalanders . You can pls break it down for me date by date i.e when to take each action. I'm confused as I fear the time is too close and might b disastrous 1 Like |

kingsleymike: Bro..there is nothing to fear. You have up till October ending for your enrolment. I advice you book your visa now now now! The embassy will likely give you a date around early August since most of us that booked a few days ago got July 30. After your interview expect at least 3 weeks and at most 8weeks for processing which means that your visa will be ready on early October at the latest. So do nit be worried. As regards the account opening, then go to the German embassy(either the Lagos consulateor Abuja) on Monday-Wednesday and between 8-11am with the following documents: 1) your admission letter with two copies 2) your international passport with two copies of its data page 3) 2 completely filled form for opening a blocked acct..you can download this form from the embassy website..ensure to fill the form on your computer and not with your hand..also dont sign the form until you meet the chinese-looking lady that will attend to you. also go with 4700 naira in change oo..they cant start helping you find change. Immediately you submit your docs to the chinese looking lady, she will give you a slip confirming that you have started the account process and she will give another slip that details the documents you need for bookig visa. I advice you do all these tomorrow so that you can get a nice interview date. As per the money, you can interview without the money but the embassy will mail you to remind you to deposit the money. All the best 1 Like |

kingsleymike: Are you really jonzing? So you have an admission letter and you have not proceeded to open a block account? That's why you are advised to follow the thread bumper to booth and not just when you need help. Hit the embassy on Monday with the necessary forms and documents. You can book an appointment go for your interview without funding the account . P.S. Modified, your answers have been given in details by the posters above |

Kindly help a brother with experienced views as I am now having a rethink about my choice of place of study. I have already started Visa processing so the decision is hinging on a few factors. I have the option of CAU,Kiel and Offenburg University of Applied Sciences (Baden-Württemberg). I have politely rejected other offers I got (following our ogas' due process ) I am all for hustling from the word go so please put that at the top of the list to be followed by the quality of education at both schools (make una no even think reach P.hD level o, no be book I come life come read), the city, the economy, distance to urban hubs etc. to be used in the analysis please. Please do not ignore.... we all will know a little bit more about the two cities at least and possibly encourage others to look in their direction too... that is asides helping me make make a well informed decision. @EKE.... you are really appreciated! You exemplify the mindset we want to project Nigerians as possessing. God bless your hustle. |

Cindino20: Many thanks. Guess your response can be likened to the QED we write at the end of a mathematics question. If a may ask, do employers place value on the class of school attended post Msc? Even though hustle is key, the future is very very important! I can endure just a little hustle if the school I am attending is enough to open doors with little effort (get me into the HR's interviewing table at least) in the future. |
Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by Cindino20(m): 6:54pm On Jun 13, 2015 |
pompido: Cant really answer that as I m still in sch ....Yes the sch will play a role but wont get u d job...Skills , Experience ( maybe from internship) and motivation. But I don't think Employers here would discriminate base on the sch u attend..( I may be wrong tho) Maybe some one with experience can answer this question better. All the best bro. |

Hello Guys, I salute you all. Thanks for keeping this thread alive. I just got an admission from UniHamburg and I need answers to some questions; 1. Is it compulsory I certify my documents and certificates at the German embassy? If yes, how long does it take? 2. Is having an admission automatic to getting a student visa? 3. What are the documents I will be needing to process a student visa? Thanks for your answers. |

amahtrendy:Was this date exactly 3 weeks after the deadline (this should be may 15) for application for bio-medical eng? I applied for Msc Energy Systems, and immediately got a mail that I would receive the outcome 3 weeks after the deadline (may 15th) of applying for the course, and this was to be 5th june. However, I am yet to receive any message. After contacting them, I was told to hold on; that it will take some more time. Now I'm baffled that they had contacted at least someone on the exact date they proposed. |
