1. If you've secured admission already, I would say the need to certify documents at the German embassy has become redundant. Though you may still do this, may you so choose (probably for application to some other schools).
2. Having an admission does not in any way guarantee that you'd get a student visa, though it's the first requirement in the process.
3. a)First you go to the German embassy to open a blocked account, if you're using a blocked account (the documents needed for opening a blocked account were explained in detail some pages or so back).
b) Using the slip you are given on the day you open your blocked account, you apply for your visa interview (here you'd need to attach a copy of your admission letter, the slip given at the embassy, and a copy of your passport data page).
c) The checklist of documents you would need for the visa interview can be found on the German embassy's website.

Hello Guys, I salute you all. Thanks for keeping this thread alive. I just got an admission from UniHamburg and I need answers to some questions;
1. Is it compulsory I certify my documents and certificates at the German embassy? If yes, how long does it take?
2. Is having an admission automatic to getting a student visa?
3. What are the documents I will be needing to process a student visa? Thanks for your answers.

Was this date exactly 3 weeks after the deadline (this should be may 15) for application for bio-medical eng? I applied for Msc Energy Systems, and immediately got a mail that I would receive the outcome 3 weeks after the deadline (may 15th) of applying for the course, and this was to be 5th june. However, I am yet to receive any message. After contacting them, I was told to hold on; that it will take some more time. Now I'm baffled that they had contacted at least someone on the exact date they proposed.
I guess they were prompt with mine coz its a rejection. I advice u wait for their response patiently, u cld be accepted

Hello house, in the course of visa application process, can I switch my financial means from block acc to sponsorship letter after interview? And forget about funding the blocked acc, if so what are the steps involved? Hop it won't lead to any any complication? Am doing this because my enrollment deadline is sept 1 and my sponsorship letter will only b out in august. Time is my best enemy........ur input will highly be cherished

one thing that I observed from feedbacks and one grave mistake that is being repeated year in year out is that majority have failed to learn a bit of the language (even the basic ones) before leaving the shores of this country. Believe me, I get feedbacks from people and hustle without the language will make you settle for craps while your mates are called for more lucrative ones.
As I have written in time past, I will write again, get hold of the basics of the language, or you may face rejections for very basic jobs like you would if you apply for masters without meeting minimum requirements. News of people scaling through without the basics of the language is only limited to few cities and it doesn't come easy also.

I understand that not everyone can make it to Goethe or find a language school around, so it can be challenging. So I present this as an alternative. There is a Book currently sold at Goethe (EBook + Audio) for 5k official price (I hope they would issue a receipt too) It is designed for self study, from A1 to C1. So, if you have someone in Lag they can come down and buy for you. However, if you want me to get for you, you can pay for the shipping probably through DHL, 2,500, if you stay outside Lagos (its the only one close to me that I know). If you stay in Lag, come down yourself.
If you want my own eBook + audio to be included then you must add the amount for the empty CD and little amount for recharge cards (anything considerate at your discretion) to send to the person that gave me the books because I was given on a condition and he paid a huge sum to get these materials in the first place, which I'm well aware of and I informed him of my plans and he reads my posts too.
If you wanna bless me for my efforts too grin, that should be at your discretion, I'm charging you nada for it. Consider it a favour from me to you.
I can only offer this on Wednesdays and Fridays when I have classes for convenience sake and only for the next 1-2-3 weeks, after that, I'm done. Only limited copies are available, If you feel I'm gonna "eat" your money, please stay away from me and look for an alternative way to get it.
I didn't know you are attending classes at goethe. It'll be a pleasure to meet u. i attend mon, tues and thur classes

1. No, it does not make it redundant because at the University of Hamburg you submit un-certified copies of your documents when you are applying, it is only when you are offered admission they request for certified or original copies. There is a great need to get them certified as they clearly stated that in their correspondence e-mail. It is best you do it at the embassy because the only thing you pay for is your transport, the certification is free. Do include/take along with you your admission letter and an e-mail print out of them asking you to certify the necessary documents.
It should not take up to 10mins to get it done (this is dependent on the human traffic at the consulate in Lagos, Abuja is very free).
cc: @obs3rver

2. Just because you get admission into a school doesn't mean you automatically get a free visa pass. If you had carefully read through the thread you would know that.

3. have you sorted out your blocked account/sponsorship letter details (depending on which you are using).

If so, view the attachment and you will find a checklist of the required documents to bring along with you on your interview date.

This brings to light another important question, do you have an interview date?

If you have not gotten your blocked account details in order see the attachments also.

Basically we need to know how far you have gone in order to determine how to help you.

You mean there was nothing like above average or 'good'(B) stated on the department's website?

Good day fellow Nairalanders, I am in a dilemma taking a vital decision as regards schooling abroad and I would really appreciate your contributions and suggestions. I am in my late 20s, a teacher by profession and currently earns a monthly salary of over a hundred thousand Naira. I applied to some Universities in Germany for my Masters degree but was rejected as a result of my low CGPA, I made a CGPA of 2.70. Now, I'm considering applying for an Undergraduate degree Programme in Germany, which implies I would have to quit my present job. My question goes thus, what are my chances of securing a good job either in Germany or Nigeria with the newly acquired first degree certificate considering the fact that I would be in my early 30s by the time I complete my Bachelors degree in Germany. Is this a wise decision or should I just go ahead and do a masters programme here in Nigeria since I'm qualified for that? Thank you all!

With ur present salary ..I will advise you to do ur masters (part time sef) in Nigeria. YOu didnt state ur field btw..but ur take home pay is cool and if ur job is secured , then my advise will be ..

1. do ur masters degree in Nigeria ( part time ) or

2. COntinue to apply to schs...Write a good motivation letter with emphasis on your job experience..I think some program operatea a quota system and ve slots for ppple with experience. I ve a colleague in my dept that graduated 15yrs ago and his GPa falls in same range as urs (german gradin sys)Ur CGPa is not that bad bros...maybe u need to send ca.10 applications grin..yes and work on ur motivation letter.

The idea of another bachelors is a no no for me.

Thanks @ Cindino, I'm a graduate of Pure Physics from one of the most reputable Federal Universities here in Nigeria. As much as I can say, my job as a teacher is secured. The fact is that I want a job where what I studied in the university can be put into practice. I want to study something relating to Environmental Physics or Environmental Engineering, so you see that my experience in the teaching profession won't fit into writing a motivation letter for my intended course of study. All the same, I really appreciate your response.

Oh I see...then lemme gv u my view abt Job search here in Germany..you will need at least a masters degree in ur field to get a job because that is what is equivalent to a german diploma.Since you will be competing with alot of pple with diploma or its masters equivalent , to ve a chance at all u need a masters degree...In some fields..to get a good paying job u may need a phd degree ( Common in natural sciences exceptions: IT and Engineering. I ve no idea what goes on on the other side cc social sciences and arts) still be employed as a graduate trainee ( no industrial experience) ..Because education is almost free pple tend to take advantage ( or abuse depends on ur view) of the system.

All the best bro....

PS: Phd is viewed as a job in Germany.

Thanks for this insightful response. I can now see that it's a sheer waste of time going for another Bachelors degree programme. I would be on the lookout for schools within and outside the shores of Nigeria where I can do my Masters programme. Thanks bro...

Are you really jonzing? So you have an admission letter and you have not proceeded to open a block account? That's why you are advised to follow the thread bumper to booth and not just when you need help. Hit the embassy on Monday with the necessary forms and documents.

You can book an appointment go for your interview without funding the account .
