Barnabaseloka:Is this power independent of god's power? If yes then all power does not belong to god.. If No then its still same as using god's power. Buh seriously i have never seen an atheist tormented by an evil spirit, i think the devil's power really works more on you theists. Really? Well thats true cus neither does it have any power against the one who doesn't believe. . .It only does for those who think it does, that's how fiction works Yea just like Job sinned i guess. There we have it as i rightly asserted before. The devil is just god's employee. he is working for god.... So why condemn an employee for doing what he was employed to do and not the employer... You condemn devil for tormenting job but not the main oga that gave the permission (which literally means the main oga is the one tormenting the victim only with the help of his worker (devil)..) Good and bad things has nothing to do with any deity... god is in control meaning everything that happens are his works. . whatever the devil does are all gods plans because he is in control of everything...yes? it leaves us wondering; Who really is the Villain in this fable 4 Likes 1 Share |

Pr0ton:1. Before Adam and Eve sinned against God, did Devil have power over them? The Devil only enticed Eve, but did not force her. When Adam and Eve ate the fruit that God told them not to eat, they sinned against God and became separated from God. It was at this point that the devil gained control over the world. 2. Devil was thrown out of heaven because he sinned against God by being proud, and wanting to take the place of God in heaven. He was created to serve God in heaven. The devil was the first man that sinned against God. This is why anyone who has not been liberated through Christ from the power of sin is under the power of the devil. 3. Why did Jesus come to the earth? And from who did Jesus rescue the world? 4. Anyone who continues to sin is of the devil for the devil has sinned from the beginning. How did you come to your conclusion. Have you questioned him before? If God could turn His face from Jesus when Jesus was on the cross, do you imagine what God will do to one who still commits sins? According to what we see, a sinner might be living well but God does not see such a person the same way. The law of nature is still at work- if you work hard, you will make money, if you give to people, you will receive from people, etc, this happens whether one is a believer or not. But, God will judge everyone according to his/her works. 5. Refer to Job and you will get your answer. If the Spirit could lead Jesus into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil, we are no exceptions. As Jesus used God's word to win the devil, so are we to use God's word to win. 6. If you are not an atheist (no insults meant), then refer to Ecc.3:1-15. There is time for everything that happens under heaven -both to believers and to skeptics. Devil is not the architect of all the bad things that happen on earth. Nature, controlled by God, also plays its roles in the lives of both the believers and the skeptics. 7.Yes keep waiting for Him, for He knows the appointed time to deliver you from that problem of yours. The timing of man is not the same with the timing of God. A thousand years is like a day to God. |

johnydon22:I wish not to speak with you from human ideologies or wisdom. I believe in Jesus and have to back up my points with the Scriptures. I also see that you write 'God' as 'god' deliberately. I stand to be corrected in my opinion that you have not believed in the existence of God. But to be clear on this, I want to know if you believe in God. |

Barnabaseloka:Ok shall we now say that it is valid to back up spiderman with spiderman's comics? god, God, dog, Dog... changes nothing in the simple noun. . . I think your intuition is correct...I do not believe any god concept. . Ranging from the very first concepts humanity conceived.. Ugarites concepts, sumerian, egyptian mesopotamian and babylonian down to the recent ones.. Zeus, thor, yahweh, allah, horus, krishna, vishnu, dynonsus etc... |

johnydon22:From your write-up, I see that this discussion will not go well between us. I don't discuss issues relating to my christian faith on mere ideologies and philosophies of men. I see also that you don't believe in the existence of God. You will not understand me when I back up my points with the Scriptures. Know that the words written in the bible guide christians on their relationship with God and with humans. Therefore this discussion with you will be baseless and not worth going into. The same way you believe in things that you have not seen is the same way christians believe in God, who is unseen. We believe in God with FAITH. I humbly take my leave. |

The devil, however, has no real power to affect man. He only has the ability to make evil suggestions to our hearts and minds. {It is only the Evil One that suggests to you the fear of his votaries: Be ye not afraid of them, but fear Me, if ye have Faith.} Surah 3 Verse 175 This is an attempt by him and his cohorts to divert us from the Path of Allah and to lead us astray from His remembrance. The shaytan knows that he will be cast into the eternal Hellfire on the Day of Judgment. So, he wants to take as many of us, as he can, with him, if he is able. {He said: "Seest Thou? this is the one whom Thou hast honoured above me! If Thou wilt but respite me to the Day of Judgment, I will surely bring his descendants under my sway - all but a few!"} Surah 17 Verse 62 These ‘few’ are those righteous believers who ask for Allah’s guidance and protection from the evils of this life and follow the guidance that Allah has sent them. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil of the shaytan and his cohorts. Ameen |

kayo80: Not every bad thing comes from the Satan. These days, man does more evil than Satan. Satan often get's too much credit for stuff he didn't do. Sometimes, I feel sorry for the dude. |

Barnabaseloka: If there wasn't a tempter there would be no possibility of sinning. They didn't think about sinning until the tempter came into the scene. 2. Devil was thrown out of heaven because he sinned against God by being proud, and wanting to take the place of God in heaven. He was created to serve God in heaven. The devil was the first man that sinned against God. This is why anyone who has not been liberated through Christ from the power of sin is under the power of the devil. So devil now is a man. Besides if everyone who sins is under the power of the devil, then under whose power was the devil under? If none, then it makes no sense of God to let us under the power of any when we sin. 3. Why did Jesus come to the earth? And from who did Jesus rescue the world? If Jesus has rescued the earth why does evil still persist? Simple. He never really rescued the earth. That has always been the trick, postponing the day of reward to the future that never comes. 5. Refer to Job and you will get your answer. If the Spirit could lead Jesus into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil, we are no exceptions. As Jesus used God's word to win the devil, so are we to use God's word to win. You haven't still answered me. Why should an ALL-KNOWING God test you before he could know your capability? So God his the author of evil? And you serve the author of everything evil that happens to you and everyone. Why blame the devil afterall? He'd be a nicer guy than God himself. 7.Yes keep waiting for Him, for He knows the appointed time to deliver you from that problem of yours. The timing of man is not the same with the timing of God. A thousand years is like a day to God. A thousand year of barren, suffering, loss, sickness, hardship etc? Now I see how God qualifies to be called Love. 1 Like |

Barnabaseloka: Sir, who wrote the Bible? Was it not men? It was written to guide men and the authors never bothered to tell these men the origin of this god (I used small letter because the word is a common noun to me ). That same book has proven countless of times to be an unreliable source of knowledge -- seek Google for answers. Then, why would you choose it as your own source of knowledge? I believe, you are scared to have a proper discussion with a bible unbeliever, because of the gaps in your knowledge of the universe. You probably have your doubts about your bible, but you just choose to ignore them, with the hopes that they would be answered on that last day. Why would you choose to wait till then? Aren't you inquisitive enough to seek answers now? Must you base all your arguments on a book? Can't you make a proper discussion/argument outside this book? You shouldn't need faith to believe in god. If he exists, he has any of the five senses of man, to manifest himself. We don't need to physically see the wind before you know it exist, because we can feel it. The same argument holds for our heart, which we can not see, but feel and hear. I would end by saying: a non-existent god is one who needs his follower's faith to believe him. |

Re: Where Does The Devil Get His Power From? by Orunto: 3:44pm On Jun 14, 2015 |
Devil has no Power. All Powers belong to God. The devil is all wickedness and God is aware and very firmly in control of all of devil's wickedness. |

Pr0ton:From your post, I can see that you do not believe in God, not to talk of Jesus. I stand to be corrected if I am wrong. When I talk to people about God, I do not speak from human ideologies and philosophies. I lay hold on 'the Scriptures' which serve as a guide for christians. You will not understand me b/c all I will say will be like fairy-tale to you. The same way you believe that there are unseen things that exist is the same way christians believe in the unseen God. We believe in God by FAITH and walk with Him by FAITH, not by our reasonings and philosophies. Therefore, discussing this topic with you is like a christian and a moslem arguing about their faith. We are on different paths and cannot come to any agreement. So, this case is closed! |

SpeedyConnect: Have you used one before? What is your definition of juju? Does it include herbs? Most juju are only practiced with mouth and promoted by fear. People are quick to associate anything they don't understand to Juju. For instance, a lady that died in her sleep and her parents rejected an autopsy on her, but were quick to associate her death to the work of juju. Is that not madness? These so called Juju men are the most careful people in the country. Our sick politicians would protect themselves with heavy security men, yet ignorant people would be screaming they are secured by Juju. Why do soldiers, police, thugs, boko haram, OPC carry guns? Why don't they just wear and fight with Juju? Why are African countries not the most powerful in the world? Why do these men die when they are severely injured by weapons? How come the Regent of Akungba was being kidnapped? (Am not in anyway justifying the kidnap.) Was she not protected with Juju or the gods? Juju is in the class as church miracles! My conclusion, limit the nollywood movies you watch! Most of their play writers have very low IQ! |

theAtheist101: I agree totally with you about the nollywood writers, bunch of crap they keep churning out. To tap into the supernatural forces is not a commonplace knowledge but man for thousands of years and spent so much fortunes on a lie. All cultures at a time believe in juju or voodoo, we can't all be so gullible if there are no clear cases of such supernatural occurences 1 Like 1 Share |

Re: Where Does The Devil Get His Power From? by rabzy: 4:56pm On Jun 14, 2015 |
As to where the devil got its power, it is the power inherent in him as a spirit. Each person, body or thing has inherent power by virtue of their existence. A man has his powers bestowed on him by virtue of his existence, so weda he is good or bad does not take his powers away. Satan still has his powers as a former cherub. Powers that we term supernatural to ours. |
