It great to hear from these guys again. I have many reasons to feel excited about you guys. but what I found not quite right, I think, in this thread is about bullets of foul words coming from different angles ( GetOvaMe and Co ). please, let be civil. Our mission is single and singularity of our mission should be an advantage . please once again. I will try to post questions here everyday. sellah! |

horpeyemmi66: Just wanna chip in something ßoss. U missed something in ur formula. g'=g[R/(R+H)]² Simply solve to get 2.45m/s² ===========> as can be seen from the question, height is quite to large as radius of the earth. So when the height is significantly less than the earth's radius, then this formula will be more convenient g'=g[1-2H/R] For no2 Use the formulae g=4πGRp/3. U already know what acceleration due to gravity at earth's radius should be na(9.8~m/s²) meaning that what u got can't be the answer. Who re my to undo the latchet of my ßoss FIGHTING |

P0lyMath:hahahaha, Sir.PolyMath, who's perfect? I really appreciated that comment... That shows I just did it the way I deemed fit...formula from my Pre-degree days, I even forgot to square the denominator. ....Whatever, that question was of the grid jare. How have you been?...hope you haven't been to London to see the queen? Me been missing your swags in here baba! |

Bhuumhite:Sweet heart that was beautiful one up there but you forgot the 80% in the question. H= MLf H = 30 x 336 H= 10080J←What you got, which was a step away from the answer. As opposed to this, which happens to be correct: →80%H=336 x 30 →0.8H= 10080 →H= 10080/0.8 →H= 12600J Missed you dear, you've been swotting sey? |

Re: University Of Ibadan 2015/16 Applicants by horpeyemmi66(m): 3:08pm On Jun 14, 2015 |
mathefaro:Thanks for your cognisance @mathefaro. During a phase change, latent heat is either giving off or absorbed without an increase or decrease in temperature, look at it this way viz: Steam →Water →Ice (Latent heat is given off) Ice →Water →Steam (Latent heat is absorbed/required). The only thing that changes is the Volume of the substance (which in this case is water), mass remains the same. When it changes from Solid through Liquid to Gas, it Volume decreases(it contracts) and the mass remains constant. On the flip side, when water changes to Solid from Gas through liquid, its Volume increases(it expands) but the mass remains the same. This occurence is clearly seen in the bursting of unlagged water pipes in temperate countries of the world. In essence, the question only spoke about the change from Ice to Water(H= MC∆Θ, H=MLf). The question never stated any temperature rise in the question, as they know such, isn't feasible. Albeit, temperature rises immediately before and after a phase change. Post script: If we had been told the change was from Ice to steam, then one would have done something like this: H= MLfi + MC∆Θw + MLv + MC∆Θ. ----------------------------------------------------- Hope this answered your question? GetOvaMe:This was your only sensible post in all. I get it bro, i wasn't too clear when i posted those answers and the truth remains that i clearly flunked those questions. What amaze me the most was how Cassy failing could rouse such arguement. It just clearly state my initial doubts here. Horpeyemmi66 sorry about whatever might be either said or unsaid between you and G.O.M. As for you bros, it is personnal and i'll take it so, just that i'll just do off-NL and yeah we are gonna shot hoops over this, when you comeby. |

Re: University Of Ibadan 2015/16 Applicants by mathefaro(m): 5:10pm On Jun 14, 2015 |
horpeyemmi66:You don't seem to get my point, infact, you didn't have to go through all the stress. What I meant was that, the effect of the supplied heat was not stated. Yes, you're right about the fact that since a temperature change wasn't involved/ stated in the question, then it should be latent heat-related, but then, the heat supplied might not be enough to completely melt the 30g of ice. And since calculation can't be made on mere assumptions, I feel that little detail must be added for clarity sake. However, if you think otherwise, I rest my case and it's all good. There's no point creating an argument over it. #Shalom |

cassyrooy: Cut the bullsh*t, paleface! Your failing caused what?... Oh! Don't flatter yourself. Your guy led himself into a cul-de-sac when he tried to take a cheap shot at me by calling me 'gullible'. Apparently, that wasn't a very clever decision. If he wanted to diss me he should have thought of better and stronger adjectives, not trying to use clichés that make him look like a hobo with spiderwebs up his skull. Like I said, I would normally have ignored him and allow him wallow in self adoration. But, you know i've never been known to be a bastion of temperance. Besides I was bored. Dude's got no imagination. Next time pal, try to get a knowledge 'bout something before flexing your opinion muscles. Would save you a whole lot of self -embarrassment. But, then again, this one is on you, Cassy. You know I know all your shady schemes, you could fool anyone but me. After all, I sired you! I'm glad you admitted to flunking those questions. Good boy! What were you saying 'bout shooting hoops? I'd love to see you try. |
