The course is set, it's time for me to go back to Lagos, Nigeria.

It's a pleasure seeing second home again after almost 4 years!

Wow!!!... That's nice, wishing you safe trip big boss... I hope and pray to be in Lagos when you arrive.

I hope you will still remember places when you arrive

When you're placed on administrative processing, you won't get a notification that your visa has been approved, you will only get mail to visit embassy and there you'll get your decision.

Now that's not the case, you need to know the root of your denial as it wasn't due to the late submission of your passport. There is something wrong somewhere.

Since you have decided to go for a Masters program and you've been issued I-20, well just read through the thread to get the process. If you have any questions you can drop here, I am sure there are more gurus here that will help you.

Thank you for your sincere response.

However, I do believe it was because of the late submission. Now, events leading to being placed under admin processing was because I had an Iranian visa on my passport and also a Dubai residency visa as well which the lady was very concerned about what I went to Iran to do, in fact she didn't ask further questions about the application but seemed worried why I visited Iran.

In the end she did grant me the visa but I couldn't submit my passport at the time then did later and whom ever that was supposed to issue it refused to re-issue perhaps at this point , my reluctance to submit it casted doubt.

Second application which was the visiting visa was refused , even after I explained to the lady I was issued a visa previously but was refused when I submitted my passport and it was because I was working, then she asked "where is your wife" , I answered "at work" , she asked "why isn't she travelling with you" and I said to her "she isn't on leave until the end of the year but I am" and she refused me the visa, I haven't gone back there since then.

I lost track on your question probably because i was very busy with something else. Sorry about that.

If you were denied at first because you didn't submit your passport to the embassy, it means you snubbed them, secondly, you were denied.

I think you will have a lot of explanation to make this time but all in all, you will get your visa. Just pay attention to home ties.

That's ok. Thanks for your kind response.

Well, in the second interview for the visiting visa application, I explained to the lady what happened ,I guess she was too busy typing away either pretending to listen or actually listened. She still refused me after my wife's whereabouts and why she wasn't travelling with me became her point of concern.

My marriage and job I believe is enough, in retrospect across the years when it comes to home ties.

In the end I will go there and see what happens.

Well, now you are aware why you were denied, you would have clearly explained why you went to Iran, I knew how they searched and interrogated a guy because he was from Sudan. Those place are terrorist prone area and they want to know what you were there for.

Your delay in sending down your passport would raise dust. You have a chance to go state your case clearly and explain why you were not disposed to come for your visa on time. There is a guy who one PMed me and told me why he had Sudan visa on his passport was cos he was told by an agent that he needs to "disvirgin" his passport. So he went for Kenya and Sudan visa.

You would need to make sure you have all necessary documentation.

I did tell her why I went to Iran when she asked me then she said "I'm not denying you a visa neither am I issuing you one at the moment, I will let you know when I'm ready to issue it" then she put me under AP and called me 2 months later to pick the visa up.

Anyways, I will go there for the students visa and see what they'll tell me this time.

Good day Everyone on this thread,i have been an ardent follower of this thread for the past 3years after graduation but i prefer to read comments and digest carefully at any that concerns my very profile.

However,i went for my Interview 6:30am at Lagos today,it was kinda very tedious because for some awkward reasons i have been battling with Insomnia a week after i booked my appointment.

HOW I PREPARED: After many transcripts and experiences on here,i started preparing, for one week i fasted 12am to 6pm (1 week) and i was always reading the following Bible passages:
Isaiah 61:7,Esther2:5-8,Proverbs3:2-4,Proverbs 16:1,Isiah 41vs10.Psalm 40 and Psalm 24,among other verses. They really helped me a great deal,as i was praying all about favor and challenged God to open his store house of blessings on me,not forgetting alms giving and helping the needy as well.

Fast forward to today's INTERVIEW: I got up 2am,read my bible, prayed, told my people at home that i was to open my office this morning so i had to leave home by 4;30am,got to the Embassy by 5am,because i stay at Lekki Phase one. When i got to the Embassy,i met lots of people on queue,I just kept my calm and was watching, they didn't usher us into the Embassy until about 6;30am,we did all the security checks and i saw lots of people falling prey to those street urchins by the embassy, giving them their ds-160 to staple their passport photograph to,when we got into the Embassy they were asked to remove the stapled Passport..1K GONE DOWN THE DRAIN,they approached me but i declined.

We got into the Embassy, they sorted our documents,I-20,ds-160,passports,sevis fee receipt and MRV Fees receipt. We were ushered into the next phase where our finger prints were taken and they scanned my passport photograph and gave me back after writing some Numbers on it,i wouldn't know what they numbers meant bcoz it was my first experience, but i have been to 5 different countries.

After going through that Phase,it was the time of Interview,we were all seated,a man came to address us that we need to exercise patience as the Visa Officers aren't around yet, they will start arriving by 7:30am,so i was all chilled, said a little prayer, met a girl by side,we jisted a bit,but she wasn't my kinda girl, she is going to Pennsylvania university or so..so we queued immediately the VOs arrived and they started the interview,i was just telling God,all i need is confidence, because i hate cramming,i told God that he promised not to forsake me,this is the time i need him most,i heard lots of interviews but i didn't pay too much attention so as not to be distracted, because some responses were very very disappointing, and i didn't want to be reacting to look like one "ITK',IT go to my turn and it was one beautiful white lady and the following conversation ensued.

Me: Good Morning

Vo: With a lovely smile, pass me your documents.

Me: I gave her my I-20,MRV Receipt,Sevis Fee receipt and Passport

Vo:Put your fingers on the Biometric machine and i did.

VO: How did you get to know about this school North Carolina A&T State University

Me: I used Internet tools such as Google.com to search for schools that matched my profile, used usnews.com to check the ranking, also used 4icu.org,studentreview.com and gradcafe.com

Vo:Nods,that's very good.

Vo: Do you have a Bachelor degree?

Me:Yes,i have a Bsc in Computer and Information Science 2012 from Lead city University,Ibadan,Oyo State.

Vo:Why NCAT?

Me: of all the schools i applied to,NCAT has a well structured curriculum that is practical-oriented,it is one of the few schools, which all students regardless of their major belongs to a supportive intellectual and social community that builds foundation for success. NCAT has a faculty to student ratio of 16:1.It is one of the school with the highest African-American graduates.

Vo:Nods, what do you know about North Carolina?

Me:North Carolina is a state in southern USA,bordered to the South by South Carolina and Georgia,Tennessee to the west,Virginia to the North and Atlantic Ocean to the East.It is the 9th Most populous state in USA.

Vo: What will this degree do for you?

Me: This degree will equip me with the technical know-how which is needed to excel in my field, which i will in turn use for the industrial development of my country. It will also help turn around the fortune of my company which will also equate Higher Salary.

Vo:Nodss..Why USA?

Me:I have the option of going for the best.USA is the center of excellence in I.T,most of the big players are located in USA,Linux,Dell,IBM,Microsoft, ect.USA is a placewhere some of the best students around the globe converges.

Vo: How will you Pay this tuition fees?

Me:My Uncle will pay,he has been in charge of my schooling since my high school days to university and Now.

Vo:What does he do?do you have his Bank's Statement?

Me:I almost stutter here, but i picked up and told her to give me little time to get the Statement from my Folder, she said, take your time,I brought it out and gave her, while perusing,i told her that my uncle is a Real Estate Consultant,he develops, buys and sells Properties,He also Imports Building materials.

Vo:Nods,I am going to approve your visa, keep your I-20,you will need it,gave me a letter,we are having problem with our visa processing, but we will send you a text message when your visa is ready to pick it up at V/I.

Me:Thanks, with a very cool smile and walked out.

I met 2 other guys that were also approved, one was applying for the third time,he said he is giving it the last try his next move was to try Canada, the other was just all smiles.
Met 2 other guys, they were denied,*team community college,i told them i will hook them up with NL.

SHOUT OUT:
My esteem gratitude goes to BigFrancis,my friend and brother,he has been part and parcel of my application,we do reason together in some cases, the guy has been there for me all through,May God bless him so much for me,well he is even the first person am visiting in USA.
My shout out goes to Zeezabee don't know if i got her moniker right, she was always willing to lend a helping hand,i recalled the day BigFrancis was busy,i sent her an email to help me pay for my Sevis fees, she responded almost instantly,my sincere gratitude to Imperioux and Slimmy, also MsNas and other members of the thread.

With Unity we can achieve a lot, let's learn to be tolerant with one another, for you to excel in life you must be a good Manager of persons, don't expect others to be as matured and subtle as u are,God created them that way,Notwithstanding, let's always eschew tolerance especially with each other when some statements on here might not be so pleasant,Na u know wetin u de look for,so stoop to conquer..

I want to also thank God,he has always been there for me when the chips are down,i put the Lord to the test and he didn't fail me,despite all my failings,His Grace never departed...I Honor you Lord,May your Name be praised.

If you will like to reach me at anytime for help,i will always be here to give back to the thread,i have all my social sites id on my profile..

Sorry for the Epistle, but i hope i have really spur someone today with my elaborate write up.Cheers mates..

God Bless.

You heard, have you checked?
Student visas get expedited dates but can't cancel once appointed else the visa fee gets forfeited.
You cant fill the DS 160 without the sevis number and school sevis code indicated on your i20 unless you've been provided that information prior to when you receive the i20 in the mail

You don't need an agent to apply, if you have a soft copy of your I-20, you can go ahead and book, there are dates from the 13th, if you can't still find a date in July, go through the emergency route.
Please don't use an Agent. People here will guide you better.

You should have anticipated when your 1-20 was gonna come and book your interview. ...that's what I did....and if your i20 is ready tell the school to send you a scanned copy and go ahead and book...am sure July is booked tight and august would be soon

I got admission @ ETSU with funding and TA and I ve received my I-20. But honestly I can't afford to travel this fall due to financial issue. Pls should I go on with my visa process and defer my admission till spring after getting the visa ( can I still use same visa for spring?) or I shouldn't bother to process the visa for now and defer?

Better to defer no point wasting the validity of the F1 and unsettling your studies with renewal wahala.
But its your call. Whats the value of the TA by the way and how much is the balance.

Well done for reading the postings first.
Have you studied their website? http://www.twu.edu/international-education/getting-accepted.asp

You should apply to a few more schools as well. The visa officers like to ask why you pick a school or which other schools you applied to.
Be prepared to defend your decision with facts.

Congrats Yomi, Kindly go ahead with your visa processing if you have the funds and time to and defer your admission to spring. Visa on your passport here really do not matter, what matters is if you're still in status. Considering the nature of getting preferred dates at this rush hour

Before you defer kindly make sure you can also get your funding and TA for fall semester.
