HzRF: You are missing the point. Whether you cry out or not it is the job of a responsible media to bring things like this to public consciousness. No one is saying aregebe is right or he shouldn't pay, rather the question is why has the media been silent about the other states? The workers in Osun are also human beings like those in Ogun and Imo. If the osun issue is being publicized, then that of the other States should be given attention. Every worker in every state deserves his wages....he shouldnt have to voice out before he is paid. Simple! |

OGUN NOT OWING WORKERS’ SALARY Our attention has been drawn to a story published in today’s (Monday, 15 June, 2015) Vanguard newspaper titled, “18 States bankrupt, cant pay workers’ salary”. The said erroneous report lists Ogun State as one of the 18 States owing their workers. We wish to state that the said publication is not only mischievous but misleading. We are concerned that a national newspaper in the caliber of The Vanguard would publish such a falsehood without verifying their claims and without regard to the ethics of sound journalism. We hereby state without any equivocation that since inception of this administration till date, Ogun State does not owe its workers. We are indeed one of the few States in the country who, despite the dwindling Federal allocation have consistently been paying their workers’ salary as at when due. For the avoidance of doubt, workers in Ogun State have received their May 2015 salary. We shall hope that the Vanguard will do the right thing by apologizing to the good people of Ogun State and by retracting the false publication. Kogi the leading state in stagnation and misery just one month salary , I doubt the credibility of this report. A state whose Governor is a notorious criminal couldn't have been owing just a month salaries. |
