Is it really possible to make $1 = N1? Yes!

Does it mean there would be less money in circulation? Will minimum wage of N18,000 be reduced?

If $1 = N1, and minimum wage remains the same, it means a gate man receiving N18,000 ($18,000) can purchase twenty-three (23) pieces of iPhone 6 plus. For real? cheesy cheesy

Personally, I understand the fiscal-monetary relationship, but I perceived majority (or some) folks in Nigeria, Nairaland in particular, have been rejoicing over this jumbled expectation. To those who gave their votes ignorantly to the current president believing the naira-dollar equality will bring to them FREE FOOD from OVERSEAS, kindly KILL your expectation. If $1 equals N1, your employer won't be so stu pid to pay you N200,000/month. Your NYSC Allawee would be slashed "sporadically" to N80 (i.e. $80).

$1=N1 might enhance the economy in some ways, but it doesn't bring FREE FOOD from USA & CHEAP IMPORTATION from Alibaba. The impact on individuals is somewhat insignificant.

And we always ask them for evidence but have never passed the test.

They'll bring you one Vanguard with heading that says Buhari to make $1 equal N1 but with different inside story.

I searched the internet relentlessly when the news broke but NOTHING supports the claim till today. grin

Well I understand your points, but this thread is not based on whether he mentioned such or not. Rather, its based on the expectations of the people, and their perception.

I’ll make Naira equal in value to dollar, says Buhari

Owerri – The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, on Monday said he would ensure that the Naira was equal to the dollar in value, if voted into office.

Buhari stated this during the South-East presidential rally of the party at Dan Anyima Stadium, Owerri.buhari-Naira

“It is sad that the value of the naira has dropped to more than N230 to one dollar; this does not speak well for the nation’s economy,’’ he said.

He urged the people to vote for APC, noting that he would ensure that corruption was tackled headlong if elected.

Earlier, Gov Rochas Okorocha had urged APC supporters to vote for the party’s candidates at all levels, noting that a vote for Buhari without support to others at the state would amount to nothing.

Okorocha said Buhari would address the problem of electricity, bring back the kidnapped Chibok girls and promote industrial growth.

He said that Buhari was loved by the people in the region and urged them to elect him and other APC candidates during the March 28 and April 11 general elections.

Former governor of Anambra, Mr Chinwoke Mbadinuju and former Minister of Education, Chinwe Obaji, were formally welcomed to the APC at the rally.

The rally was attended by APC supporters from Abia, Ebonyi, Anambra, Enugu and Imo. (NAN

Buhari didn't say what Vanguard reported. It might be the reporter that gathered this news failed to comprehend simple language or he wrote what he thought he heard. Why was it that only vanguard reported this when other top news media, both print and electronic, were there? How I wished somebody could take up vanguard to bring forth a video evidence.

I thought this issue has been thrashed completely in the past?... How come there are still some who are still deceived by the dubious Vanguard report?

As you can see, the title is clearly different from what's written inside. The "quoted" message in the report is credited to Buhari but the dubious Vanguard reporter chose to give a misleading title for the sake of politics. Enough of this... elections are now over.

Then those individuals that believe false information even when the truth is before them chose to do so. But that does not make it true. PDP and their agents have been repeating this lies with the aim to deceive the uninformed.

“It is sad that the value of the naira has dropped to more than N230 to one dollar; this does not speak well for the nation’s economy,’’ he said.

How does decrying the falling value of Naira, amount to a declaration to make Naira equal a dollar?

@ your thread's focus, talk of gullibility and ignorance of such people who believe anything and everything.
