mitchelle1989: Getting furnished apartments is a chore and a costly venture, i searched and searched and finally gave up. I am renting an unfurnished apartment, would rent furniture or buy at salvation army/Goodwill and see how it goes. I am sharing a 2-bed with a friend so our individual cost would be around 1200 per month plus rented furniture and other utilities. You can check with me sometime next month to know what my experience is like. I am due to travel at the end of the month. 1 Like |

Hawttattoo: Why bother to carry all these from Nigeria when you can get them from an African store here in the States? Heard stock fish is even cheaper here than in Nigeria! Enjoy your meal jare. At least, you can eat your naija food daily than weekly when you are at the kind mercy of your host. |

Nogen: Babe, howdy? Babies kicking the **** outta you I believe. , Abeg which state is here? cos I'm sure illinois is not one of the "heres" . The only food I've seen that's cheaper than naija is animal protein, Moreover that obodo oyibo people's cheaper is relative ojare, $20 is not cheaper than 1.5k in my book. @mabels, Cool birth announcement, me likey. Reminds me of phema, "na so I go become person mama today" , God be with you & ya boys, Afrian man's wet dreams!! 3 Likes |

modath: My dear, we are fine and y'all? One of us here admonished me for bringing my native food to America when I could have bought them in the USA. She said stock fish is cheaper in Oakland than in Naija. I don't know if everyone is going to Oakland and if it was an offense for me to have brought my native food. She also reminded me that it is no big deal after all her hostess cooks Nigerian food for her weekly. Not everyone stays with hosts and hostesses. So nothing beats eating my native meal twice a day. I have also visited the so called African shop here in El Paso to buy Maggi, it's not everything you want you see. But they are trying sha! I'm so glad my mum bought our food in Naija jare and I encourage any mum coming to bring as much as you can carry. 2 Likes |
