It's a shame that majority of you are trading blames and many are blaming lack of education. The problem with Africans as some of you spotted is Africans. We are not willing to do anything about the situation we find ourselves. In developed nations, it is People who have built a name for themselves that go into politics but in Nigeria, it is never-do-wells and rogues that go into politics and then we the gullible masses praise and call them roll models and saviors. Youths wake up from your slumber, get skills and change your world today. Africa is ripe for change, let us start now please...... we can't trade blames for ever, we asked for change but that change is not in Buhari's but in us. It's time we grew skills, put them use and be determined to change Nigeria with those skills

20. Japan’s new maglev bullet train is now the fastest in the world. 2014.

When it comes to building high-speed trains Japan is continuing to embarrass the rest of the world, with the latest line, approved by the government this Friday, capable of travelling the 178 miles from Tokyo to Nagoya in just 40 minutes.

Those who claim to be intelligent need to first educate others and invest themselves in formal education of everyone to create a critical mass of intelligent people to confront any barbarian. That was partly how Europe came out of its Dark Age period.
Otherwise it will be futile.

There is a reason why Martin Luther King did not aspire to be president of the USA but chose to enlarge the possibilities for his fellow African-Americans unlike the Fawehinmis, Soyinkas, Falanas etc in our midst!

I agree with you, and I have been saying this for years. The African Needs To go through a Renaissance period. The Renaissance brought out the Europeans from the Middle ages. The African Society is still stuck in at the primitive stage of cultural evolution..we are just barely above the bronze age in terms of anthropological reality.

We need a renaissance that will bring our societies into the Information Technology Age.

One of the major reason we are still far behind is because Nigeria celebrates MEDIOCRITY, huge chunk of money are allocated to projects that are NOT of world standard.

Most of these countries achieve these technological breakthrough in hard conditions like bad topography, some of the beautiful Islands are artificial but my country which is blessed with land, water, human resources and capital is no where to be found...... So bad.

it is said "to whom much is given, much is expected"

I can't wait for eko-Atlantic to be a reality at least there is a bleam of hope..... No wonder it is called the centre of excellence. I wish every Nigerian state would emulate such excellent spirit.............

The spirit of Lagos

I was recently on an emirates Airbus a380-800 flight to New York. Man, it was spectacular. It was as stable as anything I've never seen even when the pilot announced turbulence. Can't wait to be on it again. My dream is to be a captain of one of those babies! Exotic

I'm angry ,confused ,sad at the d same time when will Africa get it right .

Well, the answer is simple. The youth needs to get it right first before africa can get it right. Old people start war, young people fight them "everyone in the middle are killed". The point is, the youth encourages underdevelopment, corruption and backwardness. Goto paper stands and see how the so call youth are backing this so call corrupt politicians, they are hail them instead of condenming them..so far we are still like this, we have a long way to go bro

The older geneartion are the ones killing us. Who don't appreciate such things. And keep living a retrogressive way of life. Even with d billions stolen they still don't know what to do wiv it. Until most are dead and gone. That's when the younger generation who have a sense of pride and appreciate innovation, will take Nigeria to d promised land. And also Africa as a whole . If we don't have anything to bring to the table on the global stage. The white/chinese/Arabs will continue to look down on us. But the mumu older generation don't understand this Heck! I believe what the whites can do , I can also. And am proud of my skin color.

God bless Africa. We shall get there someday.

The reason is simple: we don't favour critical thinking. We're simply content being consumers.

You need to learn your history. When the black Egyptians were building the great pyramids. the whites and Asians were still living in caves. All of the world's scientific advancement would not be possible without the civilisational force that was black Egypt. They just copied all the science and technology from Egypt.

A prolific Nairalander, gatiano, knows even more about the past glory of the black Africans, which overshadows anything the nonblacks have achieved since.

Wonder the century engineering in Nigeria would be advanced to this level, when all we do is chase first class and second class upper.

Offer tens of courses that'll amount to no course offered ... Reading notes and handouts here and there with little or no field work(practicals)

Arguably we'll get there, but when is a question meant for the goods.

NB:
I'm a civil engineering student.

preye even being a consumer is hard for us..corruption cant even make us consume well..thats how bad it is for us...technologies have been made available we cant even use it because we are too greedy to...if we employ technology like the whites then there wont be enough money to steal...

What is wrong with us??... embarassed

Some of those stuff look highly unbelievable, unimaginable, and indeed, highly impossible...to human capabilities. Many of them look like nature just put them there. God! Are these people for real?
