Soyinka is very rarely biased, very rarely. He's speaks the truth selflessly, most time if not all the time. Is a credit for him to be the closest rival. Maxymilliano: 1 Like |

SirShymexx: Mike Tyson remains my hero for overcoming a lot of obstacles in his life which were not of his making, applying himself to his craft and becoming one of the most invincible fighters in boxing history. For someone who grew up in the inner city you sound pretty judgemental - you might want to get off your high horse bro as im sure you're not perfect 2 Likes |

cap28: Oh please, who hasn't been through a lot of obstacles in life? I'm not even judging him cos it comes with the territory and certain things will always be with you for a lifetime, when you're from a certain place - product of ya environment. However, when you start making him look like a saint, while trying to portray the next man from similar background in bad light - that's what I've got a problem with. Lmao @ Mike Tyson's invincibility. He wasn't invincible when the bum, Buster Douglas, knocked his arse out cold, and put him to sleep. He wasn't invincible when he turned into a cannibal and bit off Holyfield's ear. And he sure wasn't invincible when Lennox Lewis put him to sleep. I'm a fan of some of Tyson's exploit in the ring - but the guy is/was an obnoxious coon. How about tell me who isn't a puppet cos you call everyone a puppet? I need names. |

cap28: You must be a naive teenager to claim he is a western puppet. Have you ever read any of his books and you can't find the ridicule he subjected the west to ? Go and read a copy of his Nobel prize( the prize given to him by the west) acceptance speech and get a feeling of one of the true heroes of Africa. 1 Like |

neocortex: Can you please name just one of his works in which he criticises western powers, i am aware of the fact that he has had major conflict with successive Nigerian regimes but he always manages to stop short of criticising their puppet masters - the western powers. The truth of the matter is that Soyinka will never bite the hand that feeds him, his main source of income comes from his various university appointments abroad, that's why he was even allowed to be in the running for this s.tupid oxford post which confers nothing of value on the average Nigerian. 1 Like |

cap28: Have you read his works about South Africa? His poems about Malcolm X and other civil rights movement leaders? Heck, the fact that he practises African religion is enough to show who he's - there's nothing more African and anti-colonial(western) than that. Brev, you need to start viewing things more critically. Everything about you is just moaning, without analysing issues properly. And the Oxford post is highly significant cos no black person has ever held it. |

ajbabs:Illiterate...like father like son.So Nobel Prize that some people are crying to get is from your village...Soyinka continues to be the leader of all writers in Africa by virtue of scoring a vital lone goal-THE NOBEL PRIZE-The highest honour in the world.SOYINKA IS 81 AND DOES NOT NEED THIS iNFERIOR HONOUR BUT HE WAS NOMINATED AND BECAUSE THAT HONOUR IS ACTIVITY ORIENTED,A YOUNGER MAN WAS GIVEN THOUGH SOYINKA WAS NOMINATED BY 9O COMPARED TO ARMITAGE'S 50... |
