The cons out weigh the pros.

Disposal of nuclear waste is very expensive. As it is radioactive it has to be disposed of in such a way as it will not pollute the environment.
Decommissioning of nuclear power stations is expensive and takes a long time. (In fact we have not yet decommissioned one!)
Nuclear accidents can spread 'radiation producing particles' over a wide area, This radiation harms the cells of the body which can make humans sick or even cause death. Illness can appear or strike people years after they were exposed to nuclear radiation and genetic problems can occur too. A possible type of reactor disaster is known as a meltdown. In a meltdown, the fission reaction of an atom goes out of control, which leads to a nuclear explosion releasing great amounts of radioactive particles into the environment. See Chernobyl.

The people of akwa ibom and kogi will resist every attempt to site nuclear power plant on their land. Nuclear plant that Buhari or Boko haram can bomb with helicoter like they have presently done in Cross River.

When the plant is here, Nigerians will learn to sit up and become lawful. Besides, a country like France is generating more than 80% of their power supply from nuclear. Who says we cannot do it here? Just take a look at the numbers of Nigerians that are first class materials outside the country, almost everywhere you will hear of it. And come to think of it, how come that a company like nnpc has not been up in flames since it was commissioned? It's because those operating it knows that every safe procedures has to be followed and is the same reasons why all the petrol and gas stations we have around us are not up in flames. Because Nigerians have learned to sit up and follow the laid down safety rules.

We cannot continue to remain on the shameful crawling state we are when other countries are moving forward and improving their technology and in the process, their standard of life. Nigeria, need to wake up, sit up and be ready to take the bull by the horn.

I'm from aks, I live there. Besides, that things is not that bad. It just about following the safety precautions. Also, nuclear is even safe and more cleaner than other methods of electricity generation except maybe hydro. But, I'm in full support of it.

Dat is wat happens wen u have thieves in place of leaders. Dem no get mouth talk? If dem no get mouth, it doesnt take much to organise a protest and say no.

One accident, una don die, the rest na story. Buhari has already started bombing the areas he wants to station nuclear bomb, come clear una!

Nigeria is unstable and not ripe for anything nuclear. There is a reason American wont sell weapon to Nigeria.

They should keep it in the north and West where there is landmass like the sambissa forest. We don't need it in ss . We have enough problems already.

White elephant project, na mouth, he will not do it. Just in case protest against the project, u never know if Buhari is mad or wicked and maybe the oil spillage in Niger Delta is not enough, he wants to add nuclear waste, so the place will look worst than desert Niger Republic or Katsina.
Active leadership is needed in the nigerdelta.

Lol.. grin grin grin

Every state seems to be rejecting the siting of a nuclear plant in their domain. Isn't it supposse to bring jobs and revenue? grin grin cheesy

Truth is, Nigeria has absolutely no business harnessing nuclear energy except we want to annihilate ourselves. We have several other viable options for power generation.

Now they want to do a mega project that would bring, employment and constant power to your neighborhood. Your guys are frowning. Kogi is so big that 85% of landmass are thick forest. Pray that the project see the day light.

So is this the reason Nigeria has no coal plants, while advanced countries like U.S have 50 percent power generation from coal?

All because the coal is in the east?

Damn it! Are blacks really cursed Cause I don't get such crude, rudimentary mentality.

smh. So u rather live in darkness dan build power plants in the east that can colve d power problem? Only because ur such a fvcking tribalist?? Ur so foolish......my God!!

Did they not tell u that the 3 Hydro power stations(the main ones for that matter) are in the north?? No thanks to IBB. Even though they don't contribute anything to the power problem, are easterners complaining?? The other regions in the country have major generation power stations except the east but are we complaining??

All people want for this country is progress no matter where it comes from. But bigots like u filled with idiyotic and neo-psychotic sentiments and real horsesh*t mental think-tanks are the problem we're having moving foward.

I just have to say, i'm REALLY DISSAPOINTED in u.
