we dont have to look too far to know Evans will NOT give us what we want.
But if you are willing to make excuses for him so be it.
Pointing fingers is nothing new. We all do it. We get calls both wrong and right. At the end of the day we all want what is best for our club.
The bottom line is if Evans was pulling his weight we shouldn't be concerned about whom we shoukd be signing to bolster the same backline of which he is supposedly the oldest player in terms of experience.
I don't know how we are going to engineer this stunning transformation of this Evans with glaring defects in his game. I can put it on everything that Evans cannot be the rock of any top level club's defence.

what you described was years ago.
Even at that he was never the most composed or intelligent defender. Only good enough to be a stop-gap in the event of injury/suspension.
Evans since 2010/11 has been a joke. He has been in serial decline for years and we are yet to see him improve beyond the level he got to.
You would have thought that someone who wanted to prove a point would be more consistent. But even 5he excuse of last season was not enough to motivate him to break into the first eleven barring injury.
LvG prefers a makeshift Rojo, Tyler Blackett or Paddy McNair over Evans if either of Smalling or Jones are unavailable. I only remember hiw jittery the foool was at Leicester last season.

That peak wasnt anywhere near the faith Fergie had in his ability such as to discard a Gerrard Pique for his sake.
