Yes its done in my town. One of the top politician in this country was adopted thru that means
Pavore9:
lf you must father children, marry the woman that is what the tradition is all about. Some parts of lgboland would not have even allowed him perform any rite nor take custody of the children and if the second man did pay the woman's dowry he automatically becomes the children's father. Baby mama is not traditionally recognized.

That tradition is overboard.

While in Anambra State, a friend of mine who hails from Akwa Ibom had the same challenge. After having a child for him and before the set date of his traditional wedding, his wife-to-be died. He had to perform all the traditional marriage rites afterward.

According to him, he said after due consultation about the remote cause of her death, they alleged that his wife-to-be was fired with nails. I have never heard that before undecided. He said after being fired these nails which I feel is spiritual, it is forbidden for the individual in question to receive injections. His wife had received injections in the hospital after she had come down with an unknown illness.

Really weird world.

You are still a learner, so you don't know anything about customary law? You must not become a lawyer to know about it

so this just justify making a man to marry a dead woman..... what part of the world are you from
it was never by force for him to marry her, they were never in marriage they were only doing friendship and the friendship produced kids, of which she later legally married another man, who is legitimately her husband.

Let you head set and stop twisting your neck

Since when did you start getting concerned about my head?
Re: Man Weds Dead Wife In Ebonyi (find Out Why) by Nobody: 10:22pm On Jun 21, 2015
Serves him right.
He is even lucky oooo.
Traditionally, any child born b4 the bride price of the mum was paid belongs to the girls father.
If a man marries a pregnant woman, the child to be birthed by the woman becomes his.

Now a days, men wants children but don't want to marry. This is an anomaly.

Our culture must be respected.

This country will never move forward if people are still practicing these superstitious nonsense.
So someone would agree to perform marriage rites on a dead person just because of some damn belief?
What foolishness.

People need to throw away all this useless cultural practices because it will lead us nowhere.

Why always Ebonyi huh? I'm sick and tired of this our superstitious chauvinism. I wonder what it will cost to expunge all these stupid traits in our society.

Gone are the days when things like this still tailor in our communities/societies.
