Am so angered dat a so called proffessional body like d Nursing am midwifery council of Nigeria,wud sit their dumb asses,fold their hands and watch as dis quack nurses,destroy our own proffesional body,Nursing..its so sad dat Drs who hv maternity homes n clinics hv opted to employ cleaners and attendants and den train dem as quacks(Auxillary),just because dey can't pay a qualified nurse thereby putting the lives of many Nigerians at risk,all in d name of saving cost,these pple are not nurses,dey r quacks,dat is y all dey do is mechanical not scientific..am crying out to enligthened pple outdia to help save our humble proffesion n lives of innocent Nigerians who don't know d difference between quack(auxillary nurses) and professional nurses..NMCN is all about money n don't care about wat is going on in dis profession...in dis period of change I call on govt to look into dis private clinics dat train quacks and arrest dem,cos dey hv caused d death of so many especially,in d aspect of maternal and childhealth..say no to quacks..say no to auxillary nurses ...

I think what OP is saying is that Auxillary Nursing staffs are not properly trained. She is trying to say that these people are employed in place of Regular nurses because hospitals don't want to pay proper wages to actual trained nurses.

This is not a small Issue. I am personally appalled that the government hasn't set proper regulations in the health sector. Why Risking the lives of Nigerians with nurses who aren't trained?

my anger is y shud quacks keep making mistakes and den pple blame it on nurses generally,not knowing dat their r wrong pple out dia,its not about d job,its about d lives of pple n our name...it is a proffesion dat one ougth to be qualified for bfor practising,just like oder professions,y shud nursing be different. U ask me for examples,I've seen someone brut to wia I practised with paralysis of d lowerlimb just because a quack injected into d sciatic nerve,there r somany examples n u know it..its bou change n making pple pay for their criminal acts

That error part is what I detest most in that health professionals.

Injecting nerves in error..

I know a 4yr old that has the effect of that situation.

that's really an issue of concern.

There's need for more advocacy on this issue.

you do not have to put the blame on axull nurses! i work in a medical centre... I av never seen my boss employ RN or RM. He prefers those auxll nurses . He is a consultant at one of the best THs in Nig.. Never you hope ur life in d arms of medical officers cux most of dm are halfbaked.

I go pay no price is too big

Many Nigerians are Ignorant about the tact that not all young girl with white gown and two owns hung on the breast pocket with or without a breast watch are nurses.
Am a male nurse and I know what it takea to be a scientific nurse ; a nurse with rational of every procedure. Ask those muyiwa why they perform the simplest vital signs they would give you wrong answers.
To save the money issue about private hosp; many Nigerians don't know the different between a Reg nurse and a qwack nurse. Eventually if anything goes wrong with the client or patient the name nurse will be heared not a qwack nurse but nurses. And these auxiliaries donot know the nurses conduct .
Qwackery must be flush out of nursing and the medical professional in general so as to ensure maximum delivery of quality care.

Op what do u want ur council to do? You cant stop a private clinic from employing a cleaner as a nurse, if he wishes.

however,im yet to see the government health centre that would emply an auxiliary. What you calll auxiliary ate most likely CHEWS or student nurse. By law they cannot hire auxiliary.
