I asked all these questions because I was trying to point out the error of generalisation which you made in your statements.

'exactly like Nigeria' you said, but it turns out the only place you have been to in this big 'ol country is Lagos. Nigeria is very big place. Saying London, a metropolitan, multi-cultural CITY is filthy like Nigeria, a multi-ethnic COUNTRY is quite insulting.

In addition, the Lagos of less than a decade ago is radically different from contemporary Lagos. We have street sweeps who clean the major roads on a daily basis, so there's a level of cleanliness in most of the major roads in the state.

Lagos is one state in a federation of states that make up Nigeria. Calling the country dirty because you stayed in one state is very wrong.

I don't know which markets you visited, but the markets I know aren't dirty. At least to the best of my knowledge they have sanitation days which are utilised judiciously. That is not to say there aren't dirty markets, but using the few you visited as a parameter to label Nigerian markets 'dirty' is in very great error.

And what is this 'not cultured enough' phrase you used? You don't mean to sound condescending, but you are sounding every bit the condescending 'foreigner'.
