@Kelvin, people have talked and preached about how to certify/notarize your document right from thread1. Except specifically stated by your intended institution to use the embassy, then by all means circumvent that process.

There are several options available:

1. Ikeja High Court: Simply go to the High Court beside the general hospital and get one of the ladies there to help you take it to a notary public to certify for you. Negotiations will vary between 200naira to 400naira per page (advice: form regular customer and stick to 250naira per page). Another option is to go straight to the office of a notary public inside the high court but that may mean higher price because those lawyers know their agents (my 2cents).

2. Igbosere High Court, Lagos Island: The same process as above applies here only that the negotiations is usually on the entire bulk of document so it may end up being a bit more expensive.

3. Lagos State Secretariat (Ministry of Justice): They supposedly have a department that handles certification of document and negotiations are based on the whole lot.

The above is also applicable to all states in Nigeria and not restricted to Lagos. The whole process takes about 10-20mins, so for those under pressure to send their docs have all your docs already packaged to send, complete certification and sealing, walk down medical road (street beside nipost ikeja (only for lagosian ) and you will find Fedex and courierplus offices to send your docs immediately. If Dhl is the better option (student fee things) then google their office in ikeja and proceed.

I have been searching "Euro to Naira exchange rate" on google for the past one month and I have been monitoring the trend but today I went to some BDCs point to make some exchange, I planned for 230 max cuz even online its 225.something but I was bewildered not only cuz they all insisted on 250 but I was told that's the best I could get. Pls is this just a contrivance of the highest perfection or something ?

Oga, I dont think you can have direct access to the CBN exchange rate. Thats why we have the Bureau-de-change. If you go to the airport as we speak, you may be lucky to get it for 248 per euro.

As for the bank option, you can only make direct transfer if you are sending it to a school as the beneficiary, which will consist of the school name and bank account number. But since your Blocked account is a personal account (In blocked form), am sorry, that option will not be possible.

I was at the bank with a fellow nairalander at Stanbic Ibtc to be precise and they gave us a dormiciliary account option as the best possible means of transfer. after making thorough findings, we noticed the whole bank charges on the dorm account will Include: Telex charges, Off-shore charges, and 0.05% of the actual amount which is less than 100 euros in total (24,700).


The decision is yours.. Choose wisely !!!

that is not true. you can credit your block account directly from the bank. request for form A , go along with your copy of passport data page, your nysc cert, your degree cert, your blocked account details, print the info for student visa on the german website because it shows that you should fund ur blocked account with a minimum of 7980 for student visa(that is the proof you need to show for the tranfer of the blocked money which is for ur lliving expenses),purpose of tranfer- lliving expenses for visa write a letter of the bank authorizing them to debit ur account for the equivalent naira of the euro you want to send. shikena . they will gladly tranfer it for you

I tried d form A but bank won't transfer d money I'm so sure of that d beneficiary must be ur skool not ur personal account bro I tried union bank fidelity n stanbic IBTC. For 3 weeks nau av been doing dat I av d money with me to pay but no any other means but to use euro domi account. Guys, calm down and approach any Union bank branch close to you....I had a terrible experience back then trying to avoid all this forex fluctuations and wanted to do personal transaction with a guy in Germany through the help of a friend here......long story short, I lost a 1,000,000:00naira to the scam.....never do your transactions through illegal means......please approach the bank and there will be legal proof of all your transactions...... I eventually made my transfer back then through Union Bank branch without any need to open a domiciliary account.... They demanded for just a saving account and will debit the equivalent amount from that savings naira account and credit your Deutsche bank account in Germany at the prevailing bank rate of the day of transaction..... The charges also will be taken in naira from the savings account..... The form A works and to me is even cheaper than using domiciliary account which you have to fund urself buying from aboki at higher rates.....I hope it is helpful..... I wish you all the best.....please don't trust anyone with your money oooo.....do a legal transaction..... Ciao.

1. No, it does not make it redundant because at the University of Hamburg you submit un-certified copies of your documents when you are applying, it is only when you are offered admission they request for certified or original copies. There is a great need to get them certified as they clearly stated that in their correspondence e-mail. It is best you do it at the embassy because the only thing you pay for is your transport, the certification is free. Do include/take along with you your admission letter and an e-mail print out of them asking you to certify the necessary documents.
It should not take up to 10mins to get it done (this is dependent on the human traffic at the consulate in Lagos, Abuja is very free).

2. Just because you get admission into a school doesn't mean you automatically get a free visa pass. If you had carefully read through the thread you would know that.

3. have you sorted out your blocked account/sponsorship letter details (depending on which you are using).

If so, view the attachment and you will find a checklist of the required documents to bring along with you on your interview date.

This brings to light another important question, do you have an interview date?

If you have not gotten your blocked account details in order see the attachments also.

Basically we need to know how far you have gone in order to determine how to help you.
