Dear Seun,

I am forced to write this after I saw a thread about the exclusion of non Muslim from any Islam related thread. Fortunately someone open a thread to voice his/her displeasure but unfortunately before I could comment the thread was taken down.

Seun I am addressing this to you based on three premises; one that you are a Muslim, two that you are enlightened and three, that you are aware of the exclusion of non-Muslim from viewing Muslim related thread. If I understand correctly NL was built by you as a forum that caters for everyone, a forum that gives everyone a voice irrespective of their social and religious standings. But this singular acts undermines everyday NL stands for.

I understand the fact that most times religious threads degenerate into something very ugly. For the fact that people die in wars does not mean that war should never be fought. Wars serve its purpose as gory as it may sounds!
Seun what I have learnt from history is that all the progress that have been made by man so far are as a result of people engaging in the so called ‘ugly’ conversation, people doing things contrary to what society and religion dictates. The Christian faith for instance has been able to emerge out of its dark and gory days because brave men and women of the 18th and 19th century engaged in the so called ‘unholy discuss’.

You are in a position to do something great with NL but with the way some issues are being handled if not address properly I doubt what the future holds. How can you in this age and time when people are clamoring for press freedom, freedom to associate with one another, freedom of expression you are busy dragging us back to the dark ages. It is quite unfortunate, but it will be fair to all if at least you offer people the option of accepting the terms and conditions of the Muslim forum than alright access denial. Or at least create a button asking if they want to have any Muslim related topic completely removed from their boards.

The idea of having just Muslim in an Islam related thread is akin to the case of a group of people who locked themselves up in a room and amuse themselves by sniffing each other’s fart.

I think for us to make genuine and sustainable progress and to build a better Nigeria for the unborn generation we the people of today should start engaging in ‘unholy and heretical conversation’ without the exclusion of anyone, questioning all we have been taught.

Is seun a Muslim? That makes a lot of sense. Well, we have no choice but to respect his decision. Ideally there should be freedom of speech everywhere on this board.
