Hi ya'll, I'm a first time OP (whatever OP means) so please apologies on any typo error or whatever.

Though this post is coming when the movie is already old but i just felt the need to create the thread afterall.

Ok enuff talk lemme get straight to it. I think the movie 30 days in Atlanta was unnecessarily hyped for the following reasons;

1. Ay was not fit for the role; Ay does not have that rugged n razz personality to play the role of Akpors. He seemed too serious for the role, more like forcing himself to be an Akpors personality. A Bovi or Charles Inojie interpretation of the role would have made more sense.

2. Story line was poor; Like seriously what was he trying to portray, that Akpors is just a local Warri boy who got lucky, went abroad and couldn't behave himself in a cultured way? Seriously?

3.His comedy line in the movie when he got employed as a part-time comedian was terrible; Ay like seriously u could have done berra than that. Dat was whack. If na so ur shows dey be u for no get one kobo for account.

Let me state that I'm not in any way hating on the successfull comedian's effort (before Nairalanders go start their own wahala), for what its worth it was a good movie but constructive criticism also sell movies.

For those who haven't seen the movie make sure u get a copy of it and let us know what u think. U can also add ur opinion for those that have already seen the movie.

I turned to some of my friends to ask about the movie, just wanted to be sure that it wasn't me who had lost my sense of humour and they all opened up on how flat and 'over hyped' the movie was.
Infact someone suggested that those who paid the initial exhorbitant fees at the cinema should have started a riot there and then for a refund or atleast some change.
I just feel the AY guy just gave the movie the needed hype and by the time you realize it,it would be too late cos you would have parted with cash.

Yes......it is overhyped.

I wasn't disappointed with the film. Not that it was good as stuff like Ties That Bind et al. Anyone who was disappointed must have probably thought AY was making Nigerian's entry for the Oscar best language foreign film.

Omg,y'all said most of my mind...the movie was totally overrated and I guess that's why so many people bought and paid for tickets because to me,a Kunle Afolayan movie is far better and worth more hype and grossing than 30 days in Atlanta.
The scene where AY was employed as a comedian for the restaurant only depicted how pathetic AY is at stand up comedy(my long held opinion bout him). At large,the casting was okayy tho,he should have just produced the movie and leave that role for someone else..

The comedy line he used when he got employed was totally whack. There were couple of scenes that were just not it too.

** Scene where he did that dance. There was something not totally right about that scene.

** The scene where they attended a seminar or was it a summit sef with Ramsey. There was no build up to that scene. It looked more like a strictly on invitation summit. Maybe I missed something sha.

** He kept making quite silly and dry jokes by cutting in during the summit.

** The scene where he gambled also didn't feel convincing. The part where they showed him trying to escape from the police was also laughable.

Personally I think Bovi would have played the role better or someone like Duncan. I enjoyed certain characters though. I think they really did well. Ramsey Noah, Rachel Oniga, Vivica Fox, Mercy Johnson and Akpor's mum.

The dancing scene was not just it for me too.

I thought I was the only one that didn't find the movie funny. It was totally overhyped.

That thing is not fit to call a movie, it's not even fit for comedy.

I lost interest midway through the movie. I can't even remember how the movie ended.
