What Nigerian businessmen do is just rent-seeking.
What's is rent-seeking?

Rent-seeking is seeking to increase one's share of existing wealth without creating new wealth

The truth is that resources minning in the North has been going on for many years. The state as well as the local govt pocket the money and not remiting to the federal govt saying nothing serious is going on. Go to Zamfara and see lead being mined. Jos and other parts. The North rules Nigeria like it or not. We need true federalism or regional govt. Let regions develop itself with its resources.

This nation is blessed with enormous mineral/natural resources, yet we suffer. Like someone once said, "Nigerians have absolutely no business being poor". Imagine leasing Nigeria to China for ten years. They would turn this nation into one of the richest and most powerful nation in the world. I wonder when we are ever going to get it right.

Some Nigerians are mentally lazy. We set wrong priorities. All most Nigerians want to do is assume a political office and siphone national resources into private pockets.

Since Ibo are still shouting for Biafra and opening embassy about, most investments will shift elsewhere while waiting if they will develop sense and calm down. The unfortunate thing while waiting is most of them would have migrated to no man lands all over Nigeria where they will help the locals to develop their land like they did to Lagos.

Ibos driving investments away with Biafra agitation

My thoughts exactly, nobody wants to invest their money in an unstable environment, how many dangote's investment is in the north?

so pathetic..they think property rather than sustainability..and that man was once the chairman of NDDC and a governor aspirant ......so it means his intentions were to steal the bayelsa state treasury dry...may God help us from our own block headed leaders...these are guys that should stick around to fight for the niger delta but alas they are busy travelling round the world like missionaries.. angry angry angry

I also heard his refinery will kick off soon. Some men will be reasoning embezzlement while others be converting dreams to reality. I strongly believe in achieving ur dreams, no matter how long it will take don't ever divert from ur dreams #Godbless

Who will mine Enugu coal, since Dagote is scared of stepping his foot on ibo land?

Where are the rich ibo men to get licence and mine enugu coal mine, this is business and stop blaming Dangote.

But buhari doesn't have even a metal container shop in the east n he just built a 600 million dollar cement plant in another African country. he also has properties across other geopolitical Ones. that is tribalism @ its peak, don't paint things.

So, because there's oil from another state - Enugu state won't and shouldn't tap into its mineral resources that are not in the exclusive list - in order to sustain itself?
This dumb logic is the major reason why many states are not viable, hence they inability to pay salaries.

Isn't that because of the distraction of oil for such a long time which was worsened by military rulers that were too lazy to think and wanted easy money? This is why we are celebrating this news so states can leverage on their resources to sustain themselves.

The worst thing is that the Niger Delta is still one of the most impoverished and under-developed regions of this country as a result of this distraction of oil as it's leaders were even more guilty of pursuing oil wealth at the expense of their people, leaving them to suffer and diverting monies for environmental protection and restoration for their selfish gain. They were parasites on their own people... What kind of parasite is worse than the one that destroys itself?

Ask yourself.

**
See the mentality of your fellow easterner who's state I presume can pay salaries. Is he also a parasite? This is because you're going to be stuck with them in Biafra eventually.
