Cork wey no fit see shirt for southampton na en be 'Real Midfielder'?

Playing 30 games a season in Southampton midfield is not what I would call 'not seeing shirt'.

Can Ramires see shirt in any midfield where Schneiderlin and Wanyama dey? Tah!

Cork is doing his thing in Swansea midfield now.

Why e no go see shirt? Worst case e go play right wing.

Southampton is competing with Spurs and the Liverpool clubs for 'best of the rest'. If they sold Cork as cheaply as just 3 million pounds , then he can never be good enough for Chelsea

Why not be informed before arguing?

Cork was 6 months to the end of his contract and refusing to sign a new one hence his price was £3m.

He's now walked in to Swansea midfield and earning rave reviews. I think Swansea did not lose a single game, if any, since he took the no4 shirt.

Where would Ramires slot into Southampton wing? In place of Sadio Mane or Dusan Tadic? Tah!

Like I said to Airborne, if you need a Geremi/Scott Parker who can come in and play 15 games per season, why would you go for Ramires and pay him £90k a week (whilst his transfer value reduces to nothing sitting on the bench) when a homegrown ninja like Cork will give you 7/10 or 6/10 at worst every game on £35k per week?

My preferred midfield 4 for Chelsea would have been Matic, Witsel, Clasie and Cork. Cork to fill in at rightback also. Ramires can never be a viable 3rd midfielder because he is not good enough if Matic/Witsel are not on the pitch. And he earns too much money to be a 4th choice midfielder like Geremi

Chelsea fans cannot remember the last time Ramires played a 7/10 game. Ninja played the whole season giving 5/10 performances. What's the point of versatility when you suck in every position?

You cannot just make a point without throwing shade sha

And please take it easy with the revisionism, the fact remains that Jack Cork transferred to a lower profile club, for practically peanuts, at the age of 26; which is when he should have been coming into his prime.

The same guy who was lower in the pecking order than Schneirdelin, Wanyama, Steven Davis, and Ward-Prowse, is now the one that is better than Ramires?

Because he walked into Swansea team to compete with Leon Britton and Jonjo Shelvey?

I'm not thirsty bros. I will not drink that almond flavoured Zobo.

I wasn't comparing him to Ramires, just showing Airborne that he is a better fit for Chelseas 4th midfielder than Ramires cos no Chelsea fan can countenance Ramires as the 3rd midfielder. How can Ramires be the 3rd midfielder when he vex every Chelsea fan in every game he comes on? Your third midfielder supposed to come on and not rock the boat. Ramires comes on and vex everybody. That means Ramires can only be the 4th midfielder, and no 4th midfielder earns £90k and is worth £15m-£20m on the open market.

Can you tell me the last time Ramires put in a 7/10 performance? I cannot recall one this season just gone. At no point were we pleased with any single game he played, which is not what we want from our 3rd midfielder. I can assure you that Jack Cork will enter the pitch as the 4th choice midfielder and not piss anyone off, because he can do the simple things like control and pass the ball. From the moment, he stepped into Swansea midfield, you sef see the performances. That's why they improved in the 2nd half of the season to finish in 8th place.

And since you ask, yes, he is better than Ramires. Ramires is not a midfielder in training or experience. He plays like a right-back and was trained as one. Ramires pass completion was 79% last season playing for Chelsea, Cork was 86% playing for Swansea. Cork made 57 passes per 90 mins, Ramires made 44. You cannot compare a specialist midfielder to an auxiliary midfielder.

And Cork was the best midfielder on the pitch when Swansea beat Arsenal. That's what you call a good fit for the 4th midfield position/ substitute right-back.

I see your point, and can appreciate where it's coming from.

You've got a very pragmatic outlook to football which isn't a bad thing.

But let's not pretend that Ramires is not an impact player. When he comes on, he plays wayward passes...then he scores a screamer from outside the box. He's the guy who dives in with a Rash tackle...then sprints 60 yards to chip Victor Valdes.

He's the one you deploy to man mark a winger out of the game, and is happy to frustrate that winger all game.

Quite simply, Ramires makes things happen

Yes he's not as clever or techinical as other CMs, but Rami can do a job literally anywhere on the pitch.

Better still, he's happy to sit idle on the bench till the coach decides it's time to Ramirise an opponent.

To get someone like this, who's happy to ride the bench till he's picking splinters out of his bum, is very very difficult.

Jack cork on the other hand is not even missed at Southampton.

I'm with you, but lets analyse Ramires honestly and run through his career.

Ramires greatest 2 performances for Chelsea was playing left wing against Napoli and playing right-back against Barcelona.

Brazil - Ramires started his career as a right-back. He became famous playing as a right-winger for Brazil. Dungas system was to play Felipe Melo and Gilberto Silva as pivot players and attack with Dani Alves and Michel Bastos from wing-back. Ramires was employed on the wing as an auxiliary to cover Dani Alves forward raids. He has never successfully functioned as a central midfielder for Brazil.

Chelsea seasons:

2010/2011 - Ramires came to Chelsea in replacement of Ballack and flopped badly. Chelsea went from league Champions to worrying about UCL qualification. His first season as a central midfielder for Chelsea was a certified flop. He got dropped/injured at the turn of the year, while Essien returned to full fitness and saw us through to 2nd place.

2011/2012 - His greatest season at Chelsea, yet his two memorable performances were playing RB against Barca and LW against Napoli. Chelsea finished 6th in the table, he DID NOT PERFORM as a TRADITIONAL MIDFIELDER and from February, RDM played Lampard and Mikel in the pivot and pushed Ramires to the wing.

2012/2013 - Ramires and Mikel were given a clear run at being first choice pivot midfielders. They flopped badly, knocking Chelsea out the UCL. By January, we were not in the top 4, Lampard returned from injury and Benitez pushed Ramires to the wing (sometimes the bench) and employed Lampard and Luiz in the pivot to see us through the season, and we ended up qualifying for UCL comfortably in 3rd place.

2013/2014 - Jose gave Ramires a clear 5 months to establish himself as a central midfielder. By January, he bought Matic and saw out the season with Matic and Luiz as his preferred pivot. Once again, Ramires had failed as a central midfielder.

2014/2015 - Ramires hardly featured.

In summary, what I am saying is Ramires has NEVER PERFORMED as a central midfielder for Chelsea, he has never been a traditional central midfielder with Brazil - and he is NOT a central midfielder, after 5 years of being given numerous opportunities to establish his place in central midfield. He simply does not have the tools to play in a midfield two because he trained as a right-back from the academy to his first years as a professional and lacks the strength, touch, passing or intelligence to be considered a central midfielder in any form. He is simply living off a reputation with Brazil and Chelsea built by playing as an auxilliary winger/fullback.

On a personal level, I have never scored Ramires a 7/10 performance in central midfield in his 5 years at Chelsea. Under no circumstance do I see him as a 3rd midfielder or a midfielder at all. I don't think there is any Chelsea fan who knows football who can point to any performance in Ramires 5 years at Chelsea and tell me that he performed the basic function of a central midfielder and delivered on the functions of that position.

I agree that Ramires is not a CM, but it's his overall utility in combination with is pace and Workrate that make him really valuable.

Every club has at least one if those utility guy, though with the way you laid out your points up there, it's really difficult to argue against them.

There is no basis to keep Ramires on these reasons considering he has not done that job effectively since 2012 (3 years ago), and it was only possible due to mega-bus parking which is no longer the way that Chelsea are set up. If we also consider he is 28 and a new contract will take that physical advantage into decline, he earns too much money to be a utility who cannot be trusted in central midfield. . . and he has a transfer value we can cash in which will only reduce going forward.

Also consider that Willian can mark any winger out of the game.

Witsel, if he came can make the counterattacking runs whilst also being a certified midfield man, and can also play right-back and right-wing.

Bertrand Traore started his International career as a left-back, has successfully transitioned to a winger or attacking midfielder . . . .and even successfully transitioned to a striker last season (The Gareth Bale journey)

And Jack Cork if he had signed would cover midfield, right-back and can also play left-back and centre-back.

There is no reason to keep Ramires at huge wage and opportunity cost on the promise of replicating something that happened 3 years ago, which has failed to materialise ever since - especially since his status, cost and reputation demands he be given the 3rd midfield spot which he can't perform in.

Ramirez is 27 mehn,in a period when we are thinking of youth integration and UCL win, this is not cool.........

have a very good eleven,2 or 3 good subs and let the young guys fill the rest.....
Matic-fabregas-a sub- a youngster
costa-Remy-a youngster

u renew Ramirez, u buy witsel to replace Mikel
U are not sending those boys the right message

freeing up space is a really good way to give them confidence
if they are going to be benched, it should be from players that can win us UCI,at least that will be understandable.....
Not benching Traore for falcao, boga for Oscar, colkett for Ramirez........

It's an opportunity for the lad to experience top-flight football, and I really wish him well.

Tell me pls , how old is Ivanovic ? and who is understudying him from the youth system ? No one ... How old is Witsel that we think is coming to replace Mikel? So forget about the age excuse here , we need depth this coming season and that was what we lacked in this concluded season.

Look guys for now Chelsea FC still need Ramirez , there would be some games YEA some games where Ramirez would start and give us an edge .. Now Ibime is talking about Jark cock ? No be the same you wey dey tell us say Scolari better pass Mourinho grin

I've not seen anyone here opine that Rami is getting a new contract because we're hoping to see him replicate a once in a blue moon form.

If there's any reason why we're tying the dude to a new contract, it's because the manager and the board believes he's a team player and a valuable assert.

In the military, there's a defensive strategy known as the Fabian strategy - it's the wearing down of the enemy by using attrition warfare and indirection, whilst fending off incoming assaults. That's where you need Ramires in your team, he's the kinda player who can play to such ''demolarising'' strategy.

Jose needs this guy in his team cos he believes the dude can serve him when needed. There's no pact signed anywhere to financially help Ramires' family by extending the nigga's deal, this was JM's decision.

They are saying the 3 youngsters on loan is a way for Chelsea to forego a loan fee

I think it's a brilliant loan because Monaco is the highest level loan we could have got those boys as they will be playing Champions League.

The French League is also one of the most physically demanding (due to the amount of fast black ninjas in the league). Usually the jump from Youth football to senior football is a physical one - the young ninjas just don't have the stamina, strength or endurance to hang with the pros.

Nathan Bakers loan to Vitesse is also a good one. In terms of work ethic and professionalism, none of our youngsters match his standard. He is a slow burner developer like Lampard.

What kinda wicked Legend is he? grin grin grin
