I could tell you some changes you need to make but I'm not sure you have the skills to do so.

Like logo's white background should be the same as the navigation's background (not entirely tho), shift the main navigation to the right of the logo and reduce the logo's size. The main navigation elements should be rapped in round-cornered boxes and so on and so forth.

*tip - always do a mockup of the website either in photoshop, on paper or any other software. Then use the mockup as your guide.

If you need a good html and css book, I could give you in pdf format. and you should use Google a lot.
