Another lesson on why you should allow trades to play out when you set stop loss and TP logically. Was down 50 pips on Gold at one point. Managed to close with 4 pips profit.

GA signal came rather late. Won't risk weekend trades at all at this time. Will sell on Monday if price is still at current levels.

Have a great weekend everyone..

This GU is trying me shaa...

Just returned to find it exactly where I left it 3hrs ago.

I'm thinking to leave this sell position open until next week. I take consolation in thinking that it can't be too risky since it's not really "Grexit" EUR-involved (is it not?). Whatever gap we find come Monday, may the gods of pips find me on the right side at the right time.

Y'all go ahead and have a blast this weekend!

Signing off, truly yours...

Na wa oooo. I've gotten so addicted to this market that I woke up since about 4am to check the charts - then it hit me: Market don close naa... Now, what do I do with my life since there's no money to be made today and tomorrow?

So this is my situation:

- Forex don go weekend and I'm missing Mr. Market already.
- Soccer season don end so no football to shout goooooaal at.
- The only person I live with is traveling to Europe tonight - loneliness now knows me by name.
- Can't find a date in FCT becuase 92% of the chics na runzzzz.
- All my food are frozen and inverter no dey carry the microwave make i chop.
- I might have to hop unto the Marley train soon with rizla and lighter cool

In other news, guys pls keep an ear out for developments in Europe about Greece. If you hear any whispers early, kindly share and let us know here. Okay?

Good morning.
Re: Forex Trading - Season 15 by Nobody: 11:52am On Jun 27, 2015
Ahead of the showdown talks between Greece and its landlord, the Greek PM in the early hours of today called for a referendum to ask voters if the government should agree to the proposed agreement plan submitted by the committee of landlords: The IMF, The EC and the ECB on June 25. Voters will be asked to respond with either No/ Not Accepted or Yes/ Accepted.

This is sandwiched in irony (at least as far as I see) because either "Yes" or "No" comes with a guaranteed package of not-so-palatable consequences. But I'm sure many of you here, just like me, don't wanna hear the nitty-gritty. My own is how does this affect my trade that I've left open over this weekend. Those of you with open positions, especially involving EUR, sure as hell gotta be concerned too.

Hopes of a resolution today are kinda 50/50 with expectations of a deadlock leading inevitably to Grexit. God forbid I am caught buying EUR at this time. But who knows? Those with the audacity to have kept Long EUR positions may just have the last laugh. Na una sabi sha. My own be say if EUR decides to sink next week, it had better drag GBP along with it - big time!

Hey guys,

The EuroGroup Post-Meeting Press Conference should offer some insights to where we might be headed next week as far as EUR is concerned.

If interested, you can catch live coverage here http://video.consilium.europa.eu/

I hope they start before I have to go drop the traveler off at the airport.

The truth about demo accounts....

I learned how to drive a car on my granddad’s farm in his old Morris Traveller. Back in those days, only hill farmers had Land Rovers – farms in the rolling Chilterns just needed something you could fit a hay bale in the back of.

So, when I first hit the roads at the age of 17, I knew exactly how to start the car, change gear, perform an emergency stop and hitch up a trailer … but, faced with the terrors of traffic, roundabouts and road signs … I hadn’t a clue how to drive.

Does learning something in ‘demo’ mode give us false confidence that doesn’t translate to the real world? Or is ‘simulator training’ a helpful leg-up?

Here, I’ll lay out some hard truths about the demo trading environment – why it’s prices and methods are at odds with reality … and how, if we’re not careful, it could be a complete waste of your time …

Simulated trading: are you wasting your time?

Talk to traders about demo accounts, and it won’t be long before you hear someone slating it as a complete waste of time and that you should only learn the ‘hard way’, pitting your wits AND your cash against the market makers.
But most conversation between traders comes with a generous pinch of testosterone and bravado … we want to be out there slaying dragons … taking down woolly mammoths and bringing home the dinner …

But would we be wiser to stay home a little longer, and spend more time sharpening our tools?

What is demo trading?

Back in the bad old days, it was called ‘paper trading’, because it was just that – done on a piece of paper.

Paper trading was laborious … it involved reading figures from price charts, and keeping meticulous records.

Happily, these days, we can test our systems on automated demo accounts provided free by our brokers that look almost identical to the real thing, with thousands of pounds of ‘play money’.

With demo accounts, we can trade just like in real accounts, without risking any money, but still experiencing the cut and thrust of the market. It sounds like the perfect training ground for traders …

What brokers think of demo traders
Not all brokers advertise their demo accounts, but tuck them away in a quiet corner of their website. Or, instead of demo accounts, some brokers offer live accounts with various guarantees to cover losses made in the early days.

Obviously brokers want you to deposit money in a live account – they don’t make any profits from their demo platforms, so they’re keen to get you off demo trading and into live trading. That’s why they ply you with ‘free’ training and market analysis (you didn’t think that was out of the goodness of their hearts, did you?)

Despite that, the vast majority of demo traders never move into live trading.

Core Spread’s demo account is slightly different from most. Unusually, they don’t collect any of your information when you start using it, which is refreshing that you’re not having to give up your email address … phone number … address … birth sign …

… they use cookies on your browser to ensure that your settings are saved for next time, but this does mean that if you clear your cookies, your trading history will also be cleared.

This means that it’s not ideal if you want to run long-term trials and testing, but super-convenient if you want to check out a strategy for a few days, weeks, or even hours.
Another thing to know about brokers is that they will often use a different data feed for their demo accounts to their live accounts. This means that exactly the same trades on a live account and on a demo account can have different outcomes – the differences shouldn’t be significant, but it’s something to be aware of.

What’s the point of demo trading?

Many of the pros I can list with demo trading would be held up by others as the downsides to demo trading … like how easy it is to do, how you can ‘just try stuff out’ without having to worry about the consequences …

But I’ll let you make up your own mind.

The pros:

• You can learn the mechanics of trading without risking any money

• You can try out new strategies to see if they suit you and to test their profitability without risking any money

• They give a relaxed atmosphere to learn in

• You can test out adaptations to strategies you’re using quickly and easily in a demo account
• If you ever get those urges to place a trade on a gut feeling, just to ‘see what’ll happen’ … you can satisfy them in a demo account, without risking any money

I’m a big fan of demo trading – I genuinely believe it is a valuable training ground for traders.

However, I also believe that a huge amount of demo trading that goes on is a complete waste of time and energy …

Why demo trading can be a complete waste of your time

• Your trades aren’t being filled at live prices, so it’s not an accurate judge of a strategy’s success.

While there’s truth in this, and it’s hard to quantify the difference it makes, you can still get a good idea of a strategy’s profitability, and whether it suits you by demo trading.

You’ll never know 100% whether something works until you’re live trading it – but I don’t believe time spent testing it in demo mode is wasted.

• You can’t experience the emotions of trading, so you don’t really know how you’ll cope when there’s money on the line

If you’ve ever witnessed the ugly site of the Rose family playing Monopoly, you’ll know that it’s VERY possible to care about paper money!

There’s more at risk when we trade that just money … there’s pride and self-esteem.

As long as you understand this difference, and don’t jump from demo to live trading with high stakes, you can ease yourself into the stress of trading with real money.
• You won’t be as focused or as disciplined as a real trader

As I mentioned above, it’s easy to take high-risk ‘see what’ll happen’ trades in a demo account that you’d never consider taking with real money. This can lead to really bad habits … but better to do this in a demo account that a live one!

Personally, I have an arm-full of demo accounts, using each one to manage different trading strategies that I’m testing. That way I can see at-a-glance how they’re doing, without having to fish out individual trades from the record.

If you have a tendency to take crazy trades because ‘your gut’ tells you to … I suggest that you open a separate demo account – at least that way, you’re not kidding yourself that it’s part of your genuine testing.

And finally, if you’re struggling to care enough about your demo account, I recommend posting your results on a review site. That’s what I do - it forces me to be disciplined, because I know that other traders will be quick to pick me up if I drop the baton.

The live training ground

Just as driving a car around a field won’t teach you how to negotiate Hyde Park Corner … all the demo trading in the world won’t cover what you can learn in live trading.

If your trading strategy has been making huge profits on a demo account, don’t be tempted to jump in with £20 stakes. However confident you feel, start small and build up slowly.

This way you can test your system with live prices and judge your own performance under the increased pressure of trading with real hard-earned cash.
The trick with demo trading is to use it … not to abuse it.

I’d be interested to hear your thoughts and experiences … What have you learned from demo trading? Has it given you bad habits? And what did you learn when you switched from demo mode to live trading? Do please pass comments onto George by replying to this email.

Until next time,
