Ibiono LGA is a thick rainforest that is kept very wet by the cross river that's just a few miles away. If you look due north at the picture you will notice the thick green palm vegetation which is characteristic of the area. Yes it has a lot to do with the climate and soil type, But grasses can grow anywhere if watered and tended to.

If you look carefully at the picture you will notice open gutters, "ofesea" do not build roads with open gutters.besides that, area is really nice. Am just happy that Nigeria is finally imbibing the practice of building embankment to prevent landslides occasioned by erosion which the southern part of Nigeria is very prone to. We will get the beautification right with time.

sometimes we have to curtail some of these conspiracy theories...

I think Cj is right. These aren't conspiracy theories as we would wish they are.

I just researched the issue and found these publications made last week in Nigerian newspapers.

http://businessdayonline.com/2015/06/aviation-stakeholders-urge-buhari-to-abolish-multiple-entry-points-for-foreign-carriers/#.VY4X-_lViko

http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/domestic-operators-want-multiple-entries-for-foreign-airlines-reversed/187657/

My anger with these so called "local airlines" is why can't they simply fly those routes and compete with those foreign airline.
For example what prevents Aero contractor or Arik to fly Enugu-Dubai and compete with Ethiopian on that route? Must everyone in a country of 175 million people fly just through Lagos and Abuja airports.
That mentality that only one or two cities in a huge diverse country like Nigeria should have all the facilities and everyone is forced to crowd out Lagos and Abuja airports in order to please local operators greed is flat wrong and unacceptable.

Ofcourse to prove this is not a plot to punish the smaller international airports at Kano, PH and Enugu, the aviation ministry can equally share out all the airlines operating in Nigeria among the 5 international airports and tell each airline it's designated single entry point amongst the 5 international airports.
1. So British airways, ASKY Air, EgyptAir,Royal Air Moroc,Douniah Airlines, can use Kano as single point of entry,

2. Lufthansa,Ethihad,Kenya airways,Azman Air, Dana airlines, Swiss Air, Iberia will use Abuja as point of entry,

3. Delta airline, Med view, Middle East airlines, Rwanda air, Africa World, Brussels Air, South African airline will use Lagos,

4. Emirates,Turkish airlines,Qatar airways,Virgin Atlantic will use PH,

5. Air France, Ethiopian,United Airlines,KLM, will use Enugu.

To be sincere Nigeria business community is full of some stupiid people.
Have you ask yourself why there are about 5 ISPs apart from telcos in Lagos alone

1. Swift Communications.
2. Smile Communications.
3. Spectranet.
4. MainOne.

....all in tiny Lagos but none in the entire East.

Yollobass won't invest in East.
Hausas won't invest in East.
Niger Deltans wont invest in East.
even some Easterners have vowed not to invest in East because you didn't have International airport and Intercontinental seaport that will support businesses that can even thrive in deserts, Easterners will tell you how insecure East is even not been there for more than 7 years but will go to Ogun State and buy house despite the daily harvest of ritualists and ritualism there.

Check the thread where Dangote and other companies will mine for coal, gold and iron ore in Nigeria, East was avoided like a place being ravaged by ebola, anthrax and bubonic plague, why

FG Revokes Licences of ABC Transport Courier, Nine Others

www.thisdaylive.com/articles/fg-revokes-licences-of-abc-transport-courier-nine-others/213160/

Is this reason good enough:

"Some of them, he said, were not only cutting corners in the business, but were also involved in carrying parcels below the 0.5kilogramme, which he said, is the exclusive right of only public postal operator and national carrier like NIPOST, which is allowed by law to handle such because of the sensitive nature of such items."

When you talk the east are you referring to the states in the south east or the former eastern region.
Anyway in some parts of the south east like imo there has been un precendeted investment in oil exploration and extraction by companies like atlas oil, Addax petroleum ,Waltersmithe.

Alhaji Indimi owns a lot of investment running into billions in imo state alone.
Secondly the Enugu hosts the largest brewery plant in sub Sahara Africa built and operated by Nigerian breweries while the largest brewery in Africa the Sab miller has invested in onitsha.

The setting up of a lot of ISP in lagos and non in the east even in port harcourt has a lot to do with the transatlantic submarine landing cables being terminated in lagos.
These cables owned by MTN, globacom, MainOne, were terminated in lagos and from lagos the get distributed via optic fibre cables to the switches of telecommunications companies.

These companies follow guidelines and approval laid down by NCC to do their undersea cable termination.

Any eastern or foreign investor desirous of setting up in the east would be compelled to own a switch in lagos other wise he would have to buy transmission links via third party companies to link his switch in the east.
But all that will change soon as a new transatlantic submarine cable births in port harcourt.

I believe what the poster is talking has to do with local airline operators who are not competitive enough trying to get the licence for the enugu international airport revoked in a brazen act of economic predatorship just so that travellers to and from enugu to the outside world to land in lagos and Abuja first then go to the local terminal and book a local flight to enugu.

This proposal driven by economic predatorship will keep Nigerian domestic airlines uncompetitive and relying on government bailouts and anti competitive prices to survive.

Bro thanks for clearing things up but let be mindful of the kind of people we allow to invest in Igboland. I am not confortable with this attitude of allowing a once bush tribe(and less educated too) the fulanis, from the far north to take up all the important companies in the South. What is going on? What is Alhaji Indimi from far north doing in Imo state. Why must the north own oil companies? Do they produce oil

Imagine, besides our brother Ibeto that wanted to invest in NigerCem didn't Ebonyi State politicians frustrated his moves.

Am not happy that an abooki is investing in oil exploration in igboland because they won't even invest in our manufacturing sector but to plunder our resources.

Our local airlines are not serious, look at the recent scarcity of aviation fuel, but for the multiple points of foreign airlines, Nigerians would have suffered.

Achara layout, Enugu.

A flat of 2 bedrooms will rent for N250,000 while a flat of 3 bedrooms in this location goes for N300,000 or a little more.
Is it per month or year?
Re: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by Nobody: 7:05pm On Jun 27, 2015
Buhari should be sensible enough to reject any proposal to ban international flights into Enugu. Some so-called 'experts' should have the common sense to know that a country with a middle class, that is bigger than the entire population of some countries, should have up to 5 international entry points.

The Akanu Ibiam airport has the potential to be a viable secondary int'l airport; with our national carrier, Emirates, Ethiopian etc having scheduled flights 2 or 3 days/week.

People should always be planning for the future, instead of always being fixated with the present.
