FOR those that are eager to hear President Muhammadu Buhari name his cabinet members, they will have to tarry awhile because the President’s cabinet members may not be announced untill the end of August or early September. http://www.punchng.com/news/buhari-may-not-name-ministers-until-sept/ 2 Likes 1 Share |

The Jonathan administration also appointed 14 ministers of state. A reliable source, who is familiar with the activities of the new administration, said the President, no doubt, had accepted and had been working on the recommendations of the Joda committee on the number of ministries to remain. The source, who did not want to be named as he was not authorised to speak on the issue, said though the President had not made his proposed ministerial list open, the President had not hidden it from top presidency officers, including the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, that “the President will be guided by the Joda committee’s report.” The source said, “I can confirm that the President is going to work with the recommendation of the Joda committee, which means he will operate only 19 ministries to be manned by 19 ministers. “There will also be 17 ministers of state so that the President will not run afoul of constitutional requirement, which expects him to appoint ministers from all the 36 states of the federation. “Top officers in the Presidency, including Vice President Osinbajo, are aware that President Buhari is going to adopt the 19-ministry recommendation.” The Joda-led committee had recommended that the new Buhari administration should operate only 19 ministries in the spirit of cutting down the cost of governance. The committee recommended that the President should appoint only 19 senior ministers and 17 ministers of state to fulfil the constitutional requirement that the ministers constituting the Federal Executive Council must be drawn from the 36 states of the federation. The Joda committee recommended 19 ministries, some of which would be products of merging of some of the existing ministries. Those to be retained in their present form are just nine- Trade, Industry and investment; Education; Defence; Federal Capital Territory; Labour and Employment; Finance; Justice; Foreign Affairs; and Budget and National Planning. Others would either me merged or subsumed under others. http://www.punchng.com/news/buhari-may-not-name-ministers-until-sept/ cc. Lalasticlala 1 Like |

Meanwhile, while we wait for the president to name his cabinet, continue to feed us with more Buhari's photo of him visiting his cattle in Daura , more photo of him praying in the the mosque, more photo him visiting West Germany. I laugh in Kazakhstan! kikikikikikik... the Nigerian people have entered one chance indeed! who are those that voted for the dura born? where are they to come and support this move as loyal cows they are! Imagine a one man show till September? if this is not an avenue to loot and siphon funds under no watchful eye and non documentation of events and dealings that shall transpire under the president, then i dont know what to call this act of inconsideration and the undermining of public offices and the Nigerian people as a whole. This act if undertaken is going to be the most clueless and dullest act ever carried out even by the worst president in the history of Nigeria, therefore there is no doubt that this thought pattern is harbored by the dullard himself! 56 Likes 4 Shares |

Honestly, I don't see any reason for the agitation in the appointment of Ministers. Just appoint a secretary to the government of the federation, a chief of staff an NSA and other needed special advicers/assistants. What really is the job of a minister if not just to ensure the different ministries work in tandem with the aims of a government in power. If such aims can be met, I see no reason for a rush in ministerial appointments. Right now, those ministries are headed by permanent secretaries who are technocrats grounded in d running of these various ministries and would do much better in d saddle(They've spent most of their career in these ministries). Moreover, no ministers till September will help cut costs in a way(Salaries and other entitlements for these two months can be used for something better). To me, Ministerial appointments are just done to reward loyal party men and give every state a feeling of being involved in the Nation's governance. Baba, as far as those permanent secretaries are doing d job well, abeg wait till December or even next year. NO NEED TO RUSH 24 Likes 2 Shares |

While one is ready to take up arms against the govt for not appointing ministers, when one remembers the handover docs weren't exchanged till 28th of May, all fight & IGG just fizzles away.. The constitution says appoint ministers but the national disaster called PDP's molestation of the economy was never envisaged so its difficult to judge.. Its better to be slow &steady & get the Job done than to be a bumbling impatient f0ol & make further mess of an already precarious situation.. Well meaning Nigerians will wait, its only the ones waiting for the govt to err so they can go "he is a du*****d"(which he isn't) that are overly concerned. Perm secs though can do the job, the one in the Fed Min of health needs the closest of markings. He can remove your pants while you believe you are still wearing them . He was transferred after some actions but he worked his way back in & taught the former minister how to clean house.. He is a real proffessional!! 11 Likes |

handie: I share this view point too, government can still function without ministers. Buhari can take all the time he wants. That statement, however, of waiting till the "rot left by the previous administration is cleared up" could very well end up as a trap for Buhari. It implies that when the ministers are appointed, late August or early September if this report is to be believed, that all would have been set right by Buhari. That means that from that time going forward he and his team will be wholly responsible for any failings or shortcomings Nigeria may experience and that they cannot use GEJ or any other previous administration as an excuse. 11 Likes 1 Share |

Nigerians are like NEPA, very unstable, erratic and eccentric. The change we are all seeking can't be restored within the twinkle of an eye, things have gone wrong at the federal level, state level and even the local level. All the arms of government in the last dispensation were all rotten and if we truly want the change so fast and so badly, we need to start with ourselves by having a compound voice to reject what we don't want. We all fought relentlessly during the last election to ensure GEJ was booted away from Aso Rock using our social media as engine room and e-voices, why can't we do the same to keep speaking our minds aloud till it's heard. Don't tell me you haven't experienced a little change in your supply of electricity in your neighborhood compared unto what we had in April and early May. A house built on weak and messy foundation will crumble in no time. Let's watch Baba in 3D. Good morning. 4 Likes 1 Share |

ApexTitan:I also don't subcribe to it. They could just have given the reason to be the proposed merging/scrappings of some ministries, departments and agencies. All these statements about cleaning the rot just heightens expectations 2 Likes |

Ok. From their failed forecasts of the never ending 'next weeks' the anonymous sources of Nigerian media have now moved to next (two) months I bow o, suddenly if minister are announced this week they will be struggling to tell us the 'internal intrigues' of the selection process - still from the notorious anonymous source. 8 Likes 1 Share |

Another propaganda from a confused presidency to justify it's current state of confusion and inaction. We need ACTION not talks. Assuming the govt is even doing anything about the so called "rot", what are the plans and road map to "cleaning the rot"? What has been achieved in the plan in the last 30 days? Where are we currently in implementing the plan or road map? What is the govt DOING currently as part of the road map? Until the govt provide answers to the above questions, those who say the country is on autopilot to no where are justified 20 Likes 3 Shares |

God must be pissed with Nigerians because I cannot understand why he would allow a Buhari as a president at this time. This clearly means no direction till September. Dollar might just be selling for 1000 naira at that time. No ministers yet he hired media advisers. He keeps making conflicting policies ..... Lifting ban on textile and furniture and still stopped banks from selling FX to important sector players. He blamed GEJ's delay in hand over, then later shifted to taking his time selecting non-corrupt ministers. Now what next? I have come to the conclusion that Buhari has no plan. 18 Likes 1 Share |
