Again, it is no News Nairaland is filled with Kids who are still in secondary school or with little to no working brain cells. I said what I said, and what I said cannot Be UNSAID. U don't Like it? Hit The ROAD. U'd expect people who run their mouth like most of you to come up with thumping logics/views to counter what I said. But no! Rather u have a bunch of distorted beings Cursing at their respective fathers that it is Me. Again, award shows e.t.c have rules. U don't dictate for them. The least u could do is Vent ur anger via any platform or any means. And best believe only those who have WEIGHT would have the Vents Make/force 'The BODY" to shift Grounds. Otherwise, nobody cares. More often than none, it doesn't work. If The GRAMMYS that is the biggest Musical Award and most cherised by artist Standard could and still hand out awards to Winners Off T.V/telecast who are Bigger, with Music that actually has substance and Message than this Kid on here saying he didn't showUP cause of where the BET award is being given to him can still receive their award and be grateful*Including Whites*, for u Racist restive souls who are quick to throw up the race card at any chance* then you need to give ur brain a re-check. He doesn't like it? Oh, cool. MOVE on. BET Won't Notice for One Bit that someone/something is Amiss. Not like the said act brings in ratings to start with. Award shows won't come down for u nigerians in the name of being Black. Are u guys the only black souls walking the surface of the earth? In b4 someone would want to be the voice of reason comes here to say 'because its been done like that in the past doesn't mean it's okay TALK" go and find out what rules bind the "BODY" . . It's even better he tells them not to have him up for nominations at all.Outright Boycott would be fitting, if he's that in his Feelings. If maybe this was a better Case a las Taylor swift vs ITUNES,or even a good cause, then we wud be rallying behind him. BUT this Isn't. . . With that said, LET YAlls INSULT begin..in 5,4,3,2,1...Here we go! 2 Likes |

Seriuosly speaking, it is high time African artists stopped going for the foolish and indignifying award. I love BET but dis is the sigular reason why I hate them sometimes. If whites whom we are branding racists would organise Gramin award and present it to Africans artists openly in d middle of the program, I see no reason why an award meant to celebrate Blacks/Africans who have craved a nitch in their respective endeavours should be done on segregation and clossed door to fellow Africans. To those of you blamin Wizkids, pls note that change can only occure wen we both make ourselves agents of the same change. I can bet it with you that if all africans invited ignored the invitation on the same ground, the organisers will adjust and borrow leaf from MTV BASE doing the same thing. We are humans not animals. 1 Like |

no2fuks: so why nominating them for the award in the first place since the audience doesn't know who they are, African americans need to feel Superior over some people, now they feel its over "free-born" africans they can be superior. these is exactly how they were been treated back in the days, now they want to do it to african artiste 1 Like |

jiggaz: As much as WizKid might have a valid point. A collection of Artists voices will make an impact with a more sensible tweet that getting the message lost and diluted in a series of numerous tweets . That's the much better way to drive home his point Back to the idea that the U.S. Bn scared of stealing their market, very funny' can we please crawl first before we run, let's even start paying proper royalties to our artists and making quality CD's first before we start to act all big. If we don't need their market what is Wizkid doing in U.S. Chasing after hip hop artists and fanning all over with rappers just to up his game. The music market is miles ahead of our music let's face it From catalogue and media with all sorts of channel to carry music, we are still playing catch up We hardly even do our video back home at home, we always head for the U.S., UK or even SA just to shoot 3 minute videos with naked girls dancing all over Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves . African music is unique, but surely it won't dent a bit on the huge U.S. market . FACT |

Thumbs up to wizkid. He got dis one right this time, though i fear there might be a backlash, but the who cares, wizkid is churning out hits they are dancing to. BET is an xclusive to the african american entertainment industry, when they are keen on making the awards a wholly black, all encompassing, they should let us know. For now, the african entertainment is on lightning speed without any contribution from BET. 1 Like |

They are freaking repulsive and disgusting....... You better shut that mouth of yours before Amadioha shut that bacteria-harbouring mouth. You shamelessly come here to tell us to boycott the freaking worthless award jamboree if we are not cool about the whole arrangement. Are u serious? Do you tell the freaking second class African Americans to stay away from Oscar back in the days when the same treatment was being dished out to them? No I presumed. Do you ask these No-family-history and second class Black Americans to stay where they rightfully belong in USA cos US is not their fathers' land? And if they are tired of how they are being treated in US by white people, they should book their tickets and make their way to Africa continent where these animals belong. |

This business of BET giving African artistes awards backstage did not start today and it is a clear indication of how little they regard Africans and our music. I remember a while ago they tried to get Shabba Ranks (an international dance hall Jamaican artiste and grammy award recipient) to perform onstage along with about 5 other Jamaican acts for a total of about 5 minutes- he refused point black - he explains why here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cs1MI-JCbzI People will only treat you the way you allow them to treat you. African artistes are supposed to have boycotted BET a long time ago because the people who run it do not respect African people or our music. I respect Shabba ranks for refusing to be treated like a coon by BET, Nigerian artistes on the other hand have zero self respect, is it just now that Whiz kid has realised that they don't present awards to African artisites in front of a live BET audience, the very first time they gave him the award in an empty theatre he should have handed it straight back to them and told them where to shove it. BET is run by African Americans but owned by whites, most of the executive decisions are made by whites but African americans still have a say in certain decisions therefore they can step in and put a stop to this if they felt it was necessary, but they wont. The bitter truth is that the average African American has no respect or admiration for Africans, some of them recognise Africa as the motherland but in most cases its just lip service, deep down inside they don't want to be affiliated with anything to do with Africa. I respect African Americans for their immense talent, creativity and ingenuity when it comes to entertainment but I think that many of them have nothing but contempt for Africans. These sort of things should serve as a wake up call for Nigerians - STOP COPYING AFRICAN AMERICANS AND DO YOUR OWN THING!!!!!!!!! LET PEOPLE COPY YOU AND TRY TO SPEAK WITH YOUR ACCENT NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!!!!!!!!!! The so called whiz kid is nothing but a second rate version of an African American rapper - same way of speaking, same "swag", same tattoos, he even copies the average African American rapper's lifestyle by having a baby mama smdh!!! Why would the average African American artiste buy a watered down version of their own artistes when they have the real deal? The other day I was listening to Ice Prince being interviewed on an American radio show called the breakfast club and one of the first questions charlamagne asked him was "why do you think American music is embraced in Nigeria so much but Nigerian music isn't embraced here by black americans!!!!! Listening to the interview you start to wonder why this so called Naija guy is speaking with an American accent when he was born and bred in Nigeria. Do Jamaican artistes born and bred in Jamaica speak with American or british accents? Tomorrow Amber Rose, Rick Ross, Rhianna and co will come to Nigeria and you will roll out the red carpet for them but when you go to their country they wont even recognise you or your music - shame! We need to get our act together, learn self respect, learn to love ourselves - then and only then will people respect us. 4 Likes |

Kolade354: So because kuti was nominated 6times and didn't win it, now makes the grammys an award for just US and UK? Would it not have been best for you to speak on something you're at least more informed about? You logic just flew out the window, and it's not a goodlook. Carry on, but before I let You RApPER NAS HAS BEEN NOMINATED 13 GOOD TIMES, and HE HAS NOT NOTCHED A WIN I bet He is from somali, right? And the list goes On and On. Besides it only Goes to show You, The competition is Stiff as at when the nomination came for kuti. Besides BET is not a NIGERian award or for NIGERIAN audience. 1 Like |

Nigerian artistes learn self respect, Shabba Ranks has self respect that is why he said this when asked why he didn't agree to perform on stage for about 5 seconds with 5 other Jamaican artistes: Interviewer: Recently there was this BET tribute, I heard that you were called? Shabba Ranks: Yes, BET called me, they wanted me to be on their award show but I had prior engagements, but I asked them what is the criteria for me to be there and they're telling me that me and 5 persons have to be onstage. And I said to myself Shabba Ranks who get 2 grammys for dance hall music in America. It no take me and 5 other Jamaicans to present dance hall music in one format. If Mariah Carey can get her own stage I should also get my own stage. They never gave me the opportunity to walk their red carpet for years they just wanted to push me in a little corner and take me out when they feel like. I am not for that. I am here to stand up so that dancehall is rated and respected as everyone's music is respected. It doesn't take 5 or 6 of us to show dancehall in one forum. Shabba Ranks alone could do it, Chaka Demus alone could do it. So when they wanted to get me in a crab in a barrel system I said: listen to me if you wont let me come alone or on the red carpet, then me nice. If you wont let me come out alone on stage, then me nice. I want them to understand that I represent dance hall music which gave me life from the scum of Jamaica to make me the man that I am. I am ready to represent it with full force so long as they must recognise and respect that my music collect grammy, my music buy good clothes, my music is coming from a place that as much as them try fe hold we down we are good people. Cos they are not intellectuals like Marcus Garvey and none of them are fast like Usain Bolt and I know none of them are great like Shabba Ranks and none of them are bad boys like Bob Marley was. So we as Jamaicans haf fe stand up for our things in a strong way. 2 Likes |
