lakesidepapa:Why not just try and apply? Attach all documents showing training / cerfiticates / work experience you have acquired. Eke told you the same thing and yet you want to hang onto what another person said. Some of us with admission we didn't meet the criteria 100%. You never know until you try. |

stevemims: While reading page by page and searching the thread through keywords, I came across vague answers to my number 2 and none at all for number 1. Please if you do know any succinct answer, I will immensely appreciate if you could quote it or refer me to any page having it. Thanks and God bless. |

stuttMan: For the first question I will leave it to the more experienced gurus. To question 2, my reply will be a question...... Have you started your visa processing? If no then better start with any of the schools that has already sent you copy of the admission letter. You can always decide where to go much later after you have got your visa. Get a move on!!! |

Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by pompido: 8:45pm On Jun 30, 2015 |
stuttMan: Ok.... I get your point! I will give you the same answer the bosses on this thread gave me... If for example you are given admission to TUM Munich but you would rather go to Stuttgart (from where you are yet to hear from) You start your Visa processing with the admission letter of TUM (whose offer you will accept at that time) and obtain the Visa with TUM as your destination. Before your Visa arrives, Stuttgart calls upon you with the admission of your choice. You of course accept the offer with all your heart and start making plans accordingly (Registration, accommodation, contacts etc). Once you have got your Visa and ready to leave, you book your flight to Stuttgart. Get to your school and explain to them that they were your first choice but processed with TUM to save time, they will register you and direct you to the regional alien office where the necessary processes will be done to register you as a student of Stuttgart and not of TUM. They will also extend your visa by 2years for studying in Stuttgart and that information goes into their immigration system. Remember that the visa you get for here is only valid for 3months and as a matter of fact, once you don't show up at TUM for registration, you forfeit the admission there automatically. I hope I have broken it down enough....... 2 Likes |

pompido: Well done Pompido. you have done justice to the second question As for discrimination between Universities and Uaos, I doubt if there's any much difference. Just that Universities are more into research while Uaos delves more into practicals and brings you closer to the industry. Universities also offers PhD programm while Uaos does not. As a computer science student, I believe Uaos will be advisable because of the practical experience. even though, practicals are also held in the university, but Uaos offers more. you can go to the university after obtaining your Msc for PhD if you wish to further. As for hustling, Bavaria is a nice place for hustling and getting students jobs. mind you, you german proficiency will come into play. at least at the A1 basic level. this does not mean you may will not get a job, but it sure helps. I don't really know much about kiel so cant say much but Stuttgart is another wonderful place. Its around NRW which shares the same region with Dusseldorf, kleve, Dortmund, Cologne, muenster, Kamplinfort, e.t.c. here, you can find arrays of students jobs and most especially summer jobs. The choice is yours bro ! My advice for you is go and book an appointment with the admission letter you have at hand. make more research, be positive and remember to always involve baba God. Mein zwei loffel ! |

dolpaz: Thanks a lot for your elaboration. I know Bavaria is a nice place generally, but nobody seems to talk about Passau, or the admin region it belongs to (Niederbayern) |

@ dcitizen this is ur write up, u can hear a lots here. Hello, we really need some level of sanity and organisation on this forum. The forume is about. life while studying and after study in germany. Nigerians who are already studying in germany should share their success story and challenge. What lesson do you have for intending students in germany? And what are the survivial tips or strategies that are needed? What are the early challenge? What are the materials that indending student need to bring over there for adaptation? Those who intend to study and process the visa shouls be referred to the trend that address the issues. The idea of benefitting from the wise counsel and guidiance frm experts from the house and dissppearing under the guise of german education is intensive and regimented is unacceptable. What put asian tigers far ahead of naija counterpart is nothing but cooperation and networking. This crab technology and mentality among nigerians must find a resting home. |

stuttMan: See! My problem with answering questions is that many ppl here don't read this thread ! U just ask questions. Some claim they read, but they don't read carefully to understand what's going on. Just some pages ago Eke just talked about the UoAS and normal Uni stuff when he wast trying to respond to somebody that asked of uni of futwagen in a town close to frieburg in Baden- wuttenberg. But am sure u didn't see it. My dear! Just go and read that. Besides ur question is something u can answer ur Sef, na say u just want make person answer u. In my view there is no discrimination, but u must understand that going through a highly ranked uni adds some pride to ur shoulders. Its a natural thing. According to Eke, UoAS is more Practical in their approach of knowledge delivery. Bros, with the little info u have make ur choice on the location. But. I should think that the course u want to truly study, the knowledge u want to get, should influence ur decision. The idea of swapping schools up and down in Germany should not come up when u have made the right choice. The only story I know about this sch changing is this; a friend change his school after interview. He wrote the embassy explaining all details,in that the admission came in late and that's his first choice, and they effected the change. That's the much I know. But, so u could start the process, surely Stuttgart will show up in good time... My advice is settle this sch matter here, don't go jumping in Germany. I heard only indians have had much success with that in germany, not much naija sha. Abeg settle this location matter here, don't even think of swapping in Germany, cos u may be frustrated if things don't play out well, just cool down and think through . especially when u are using a sponsor letter.. Hmmmm dat one sef dey somehow. I think it may be easier with blocked acct. This money matter and city correlation wey dey go on here is not really how it works. Baba. ! Na God, just prepare. You have read a lot of what needs to be done to get jobs (ict, language skills etc) About the towns don't know much, but try toytown, expat blog etc. Ohhhh, I see ur questions have been answered! Ok Best regards |

Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by Nobody: 6:54am On Jul 01, 2015 |
@Obiwann thanks a million I'll definitely pay you back in pints Bethiano:Uncle Beth, good morning. I find your first paragraph condescending although I understand no offense was meant, so none taken. I have read the writeup you're referring to. But you should understand that my question is not so much a question on the differences between traditional Unis and Unis oAS as it is between the city of Passau and the city of Kiel. just enter any of this search queries into Google and see how many results come up: ""General German Visa Enquiries Part 2" passau" or ""german Embassy And Visa" passau" (remove outer quotes but leave inner quotes). it seems almost nobody here goes to Passau and I feel it's something I should be perplexed about. With the information at my disposal, I prefer the city of Kiel to Passau, but I prefer Uni-Passau to Fh-Kiel. I just want to know which trade-off to make - Of course all these will be inconsequential if I get accepted into Stuttgart, which brings me to the second part. I do not wish to swap schools oh, at all at all, and I will be using a blocked account. So please allow me to ask you a simple Yes/No question. If I open my blocked account and book for visa interview with Fh-kiel, and turn up with Stuttgart's documents for the interview without informing them in the period in between that I wish to go to Stuttgart and no more Kiel, will there be any consequences? |
Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by pompido: 8:42am On Jul 01, 2015 |
stuttMan: I am sure more concise answers will come up but to the best of my knowledge..... NO! You can only access your funds from the bank once the regional alien office has cleared you and extended your visa. It is only with your extended visa that you can visit the bank and have your account activated for monthly release of the stipulated amount. So all in all, there is no significant effect only the extra effort required for the regularization (remember you indicated that your account be domiciled in a branch close to your school. That has to now be changed to your new location). The bottom line here is that in order to save time, you start your visa processing with the present preferred school's admission letter and if at the time of your interview your actual preferred is yet or has offered admission, you can ask the woman at the consulate after you are done with your interview for further clarifications (it may be done in the third person make sand no for enter the done garri ). To our people that will be attending the Goethe Institute Education seminar please do well to ask this question and lay the answers on us. Wishing successes to all due for interview today. 1 Like |

Hello house, a friend in Rhine waal told me he know of a student who processed his sponsorship letter from someone abroad (USA), that his sponsor went along with his financial statement and other requirements to the german consulate office in US. I want to know if its truly possible to be done in the same way frm outside Germany, and if so will it be accepted here in nigeria? Thanks for ur anticipated input |

A German University requires C1 German language certificate. Does that means one needs to learn German from A1 to C1 at the Goethe Institute or how does it work out? |
