The Creation Story Was A Myth by promisechild(m): 3:21pm On Jun 28, 2015
I was triggered to open this thread owing to the other thread questioning the validity of the Creation story and I think I have the best answer to that.

The creation story could be found in the Pentateuch i.e that is the first five books of the Old Testament precisely the book of Genesis.
Traditionally Moses was perceived to be the author of the Pentateuch but this view was later on doubted by the critical scholars due to the style of writing of these five book claimed to be written by moses. If Moses is indeed the author of the Pentateuch why there exist doublet, inconsistencies, anachronism, and contradiction of laws in these text? let take for instance the story of Abraham who told his wife Sarah to lie that she was his sister was repeated in different context in the bible see ( Gen 12:11-20 and Gen 20:1-18) and this same story was repeated on Isaac and Rebekah as the central characters in ( Gen 26:6-11) in reference to the name of God in the Old Testament According to Exod. 3:13-15 and According Exod. 6:2-3, the personal name of God,"Yahweh," was revealed for
the first time to Moses on the
holy mountain. Prior to this
revelation, Yahweh was known
only as "Elohim," or as "El
Shaddai." On the other hand,
however, Gen. 4:26 indicates that
from very early times men called
upon God by his personal name
of Yahweh, and in numerous
places the patriarchs use the
name Yahweh (see Gen. 22:14,
26:25, 27:20, 28:13). Would a
single author make statements so
contradictory? In fact, the very
manner in which divine names
are used prior to the revelation of
Yahweh's name in Exodus raises
problems. In certain sections of
Genesis "Elohim" appears
exclusively (Gen. 1:1-31,
9:1-11) ; in other places
"Yahweh" appears alone (Gen.
4:1-16, 11:1-9). It would appear
that different traditions have been
brought together

Focusing on the Creation story of the bible categorically the two contradictory creation
accounts.
The Book of Genesis begins with two contradictory
creation accounts (1:1-2:3 and 2:4-3:24). In the
first, God created humans (male and female) after
he finishes making all of the other animals. In the
second, God made one man (“Adam”) and then
created all of the animals in order to find a
helpmeet for Adam. God brought all of the animals
to Adam, but none of them appealed to him. So
God made a woman from one of Adam’s ribs to
serve his helpmeet.

Here are two of the more obvious contradictions
between the two creation accounts.

In the first creation story, humans are
created after the other animals.
And God made the beast of the earth after his kind,
and cattle after their kind, and every thing that
creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God
saw that it was good. And God said, Let us make
man in our image, after our likeness: and let them
have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over
the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all
the earth, and over every creeping thing that
creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in
his own image, in the image of God created he
him; male and female created he them. Genesis
1:25-27

In the second story, humans were created
before the other animals.
And the LORD God said, It is not good that the
man should be alone; I will make him an help
meet for him. And out of the ground the LORD God
formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of
the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what
he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called
every living creature, that was the name thereof.
Genesis 2:18-19
In the first creation story, the first man and
woman were created simultaneously.
So God created man in his own image, in the
image of God created he him; male and female
created he them. Genesis 1:25-27
In the second account, the man was created
first, then the animals, then the woman from
the man's rib.
And the LORD God said, It is not good that the
man should be alone; I will make him an help
meet for him. And out of the ground the LORD God
formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of
the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what
he would call them.... And the LORD God caused a
deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he
took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh
instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God
had taken from man, made he a woman, and
brought her unto the man. (Genesis 2:18-22)

Based on all these facts I then decided to embark on a research on the creation stories of most religion of the world and hence, found out that these creation stories were similar because the events or characters never existed, the stories were just folktales which were being transported from one generation to another by words of mouth which later assumed the form of a text.

I will like to focus on your second paragraph.
There are two creation stories there, not one.
The first creation story has to do with the creation of the world while the second has to do with the inhabitation of the garden of eden.
