Wen my dorta bcame a fussy eater her pead said I shud giv her afraab or Em vite 0.3ml. She ws just a week old den. D 7 seas cod liver is a supplement for vit A and D, omega 3, etc. I guess U wat it is since U av gt it nw. Her apetite improved and by 2 months I cudn't keep up wt EBF tho d doc insisted. My nipples were raw! Till dis day her apetite remains healthy. She nw eats adult food like a pro @ 7.5 months to everyone's amazement. Dats y I said mothers shud av d instinct on wat their babies need. My babies r very strong health-wise. No cold, no catarhh, no cough, no fever. Even d immunizations had zero effect on dem altho I still gv dem d paracetamol. I thank God DH and I don't run frm hospital to hospital on account of our kids.

I have taking her to the clinic and not once have I been told to give her anything. all the while she's been having cough, catarrah and temp, they said it was viral infection and kept giving me prition, vitamin C and calpol. Please this 7 seas cod liver oil is for babies right? she is 7.5 months old. is there any other drug i should be giving her? A FTM here, apologies for the questions oh.

Do you breastfeed? i ask because it was after weaning that my baby became susceptible to viral infections so what they say about immunities in breast milk is true.

When she was on bmilk even when the whole house was down on cold, catarrh cough she never caught any of those.

Anyways i will say be careful on any drugs to be given to a child below one year! especially if it is not recommended by your paed, try freshly squeezed or pureed fruit to build up immunity

about the boils I experienced a similar thing too though I guess I got infected from being pricked by a needle I was using to burst my baby's aleefo (was advised by someone to do so but I guess it wasn't a wise advice after all so I stopped). I used ampiclox that should generally work for boils but in my case it didn't o. I just tried to boost my immune sys with multivitamins,vit c, vegetables n fruits. also reduce processed sugars or drinks.

if u take d ampiclox n it doesn't work give it sometime n retake again. by the time I worked on my immune sys for almost two months n took d drug again it all cleared.

u can also see ur doctor. boils generally means ur body is fighting some infection

My son is a month old too and he does the same while he sleeps. He stretches alot while sleeping and even when awake.

@shewezzy, wat do u tink cld be d reason, cld it be dier intestine trying to develop or dier navel healing up. I do gv mine gripe water, bt still no improvement.
He feels so helpless n uncomfy whn he grunts n stretches. Does ur LO Poo also after every feed? Cos mine does. Tho I read its normal n only for a whyl.

Sweetest Mamas pls, can change of food for a baby cause skin rashes or cough? My LO was feeding on Lactogen 2 and Friso gold rice based cereal, we travelled this week and the friso got finished. I searched all the shops around but no friso, so I bought cerelac rice and maize after feeding my lo that night and the next day I noticed serious rashes all over his body with severe cough and difficulty in breathing. Pls do u think the change is the cause? And what other good and nutritious cereals and baby food can I buy for my prince. We just started eating 3 weeks ago after EB. Thank u

if you still want to continue with cereal try purity foods. It can be found in major supermarkets. Shoprite sells it cheapest @ below 300 Naira a pack

According to grandmas they say it is inuwo in yoruba meaning colic in English. When I took him to the hospital, the doctor said he will outgrow it and we should not administer any drug. So i v left him. I also notice it is reducing sha. My Lo poos alot o, dont even know if it is after every feed but I observed it's quite a lot and was told it's normal. The quantity of the poo is always small, except maybe once or twice a day that it is much.
I dont think we should worry much about these things.

So he has not had maize before. Makes it even more certain its an allergy.

Pls stop the multigrain cereal, and stick to the rice cereal. 'Tis Well.

stretching and grunting is usually a sign of COLIC. (gas issues). It passes at about 3 months. experienced paed will tell you that gripe water is ogogoro, it does not work.

To the person whose baby is stretching and grunting...

You can try a semi-hot water press. Just dip a towel in the water, and lightly press your baby's tummy. That helps release the trapped gas, and offers some comfort.

Dont worry, its just a phase that will surely pass. The gripe water you are giving him isnt necessary as it wont work. I know its not easy but jus try and wait it out. As for foods that wil boost ur breastmilk supply, u can eat pounded yam, beans, amala and ewedu, hot pap, hot tea. Palmwine helps a lot too.

I think I gat som contributions on dt tinu iwo stuff.....wen I had ma baby it was ds same colics stuff, so I googled "causes of colics". Where I read on "baby centre" that it could b due to a baby's rxn to some food d mama is taking; evaporated milk(tin) is one of d causes. So I stopped taking tin milk nd I switched to powdered milk.....that was ao ma baby sed bye bye to colics o. I wil advice dt u watch wot u eat

yes o. its possible. I've seen children that their friends inserted stone in their ear or tiny seed. just tiny objects. the child can even do so himself. u know children to them its all part of playing. the Lord keep them o.

@backing: he can refuse o. wat I do is yo breastfeed him to sleep on d breast n then transfer him to d back. but sometimes even that method no go work. plus I think this sleeping on d breast is a bad habit I'm allowing him form but don't know how to break it cos that's what makes him sleep sometimes. I wish he is old enough to fall asleep on his own. my mum says its too early

That's comfort breastfeeding o,once he is usd 2 itt,he won't fall asleep on his own nd weaning wil be a problem.I advise u stop it nd let him fall asleep wt lullaby,my hubby has a song 4 d children which includes their names nd up till nw even my 3 year old cn fall asleep wen he sings it.sing nd sing instead of breastfeedin in case u leave him wt someone 2 go out.
