Bunch of sycophants. Looking at the US ambassador self, you can read his mind: Why are these black monkeys rejoicing while they have country at the brink. That man I am seeing in that picture is not in the happy mood as the african apes surrounding him.

But sincerely, this attribute of snobbishness is not limited to Nigerian politicians alone, it's inherent in the character of most black people.

Kindly show us where the Nigerian community in the US invited their senate president, equivalent of major traditional ruler, etc to our independence day event and they showed up personally, smiling like excited kids with new toys and those pictures made the front page of a major US newspaper and/or online forum.

If NOT, it simply confirms that we mentally LAZY black people who have NOT contributed anything of value to current modern life are very much aware of our INFERIOR status to the lowest American or white person.
It shows that we are RACIST against ourselves. embarassed angry shocked

The same way we accept a mixed race person as black because of the "one drop (of BLACK blood) rule"
It is very pathetic and shameful that our leaders and youth think this way.
Very sad!

Reminds me of that picture of a Nigerian police man holding the umbrella for a Chinese construction site worker/foreman. Let me check the internet, maybe I can find it.

I suspect that when the Americans were making their list of Nigeria's power brokers to invite, they did not consider Tinubu or Kashamu.

I missed that part of your post. But then the action of Saraki and others, in connection to this topic, is not borne out of inferiority complex.

I maintain that it is borne out of inferiority complex to the extent that they did not send people to represent them except you can show pictures of their American equivalents at our independence anniversary celebrations in DC.

The points you raised here, in connection to inferiority complex exhibited by some Nigerians, is out of context for this topic. I see nothing wrong in the action of Saraki and others, by congratulating the US on their 239th Independence Anniversary; it's a diplomatic move, since we're not at war with the nation. Politicians in other countries have done the same thing- www.cnn.com/2015/07/04/politics/putin-obama-independence-day/ and https://www.lrp.lt/en/.

Furthermore, it's not surprising that this gesture is not reciprocated by American politicians during the celebration of our Independence Anniversary; apart from South Africa, African nations contribute almost zilch to bring about solutions to myriads of problems affecting humans. So we don't get the respect and recognition accorded some other nations.

Its normal to get invited and its moral to send representative when u are supposed to be mourning, as a sign of respect to nigerians that are mourning and to the US as well.

Your observation still boils down to what you said earlier said: "If NOT, it simply confirms that we mentally LAZY black people who have NOT contributed anything of value to current modern life", which was corroborated by this statement of mine: "Furthermore, it's not surprising that this gesture is not reciprocated by American politicians during the celebration of our Independence Anniversary; apart from South Africa, African nations contribute almost zilch to bring about solutions to myriads of problems affecting humans. So we don't get the respect and recognition accorded some other nations".

Celebrating someone else country while your own house is on fire. Bunch of un serious element.
The "WISDOM" of our leaders is on another level. How else do you explain this act?Does USA know our independence day let alone celebrating
A congratulatory message via the country's ambassador would have been OK not this... I'm pretty sure there was budget for this.

Its one thing to be invited. Its another thing to attend. They remind me of those busy body girls and hungry boys who will attend all parties on campus.

Darling, as a sign of respect to over 200 lives lost within less than 48 hrs, over 700 lives lost since 29th and still many more lives presently at stake, they are supposed to send representatives and America being an intelligent people will understand the respect, care and love they are showing to the people of nigeria who are mourning and are in pains since may 29.

You are the real trouble maker who is using a fake document to spread lies against Tinubu.

My own stance is simple, neither Tinubu nor Atiku will ever rule this great country, for obvious reasons.

I quite agree with you that the said politicians should have sent representatives to American Embassy in Abuja. But then their action is not surprising, it is common knowledge that our present crop of politicians are greedy lot, who do not care about the welfare of the electorates whose back they rode to power.
