bbdd: Good stuff bruh! Miami POE was very easy for me... Maybe because I lost the luggage that had all my foodstuff. I was out in about 40mins. The tatted CBP lady said she hasn't seen an M1 visa before, I took my time and explained what it was and she asked to see my I-20. So don't worry you won't have any issue. If you're bringing food stuff expect to spend a lil more time. My layover at Doha was much longer than that. The airport seems quite big and you'll do plenty sightseeing. That have free internet that you have reconnect every hour so at least you won't be too bored. Don't leave your luggage and wander off... Dress comfortably and lightly but keep a jacket close. Miami weather is blazing hot right now. When you arriving? |

match2016:Hello, mr Match2016, First thing first why is your brother in law supposing U?!.....this question is your visa acceptance deciding question, my relative in the states explained to me that most white folks don't have the extended family orientation like "we" do ...that apart. Pick other relative, fill in his full names Possible questions.. Why are your parents not sponsoring u?! Has he travelled out of nigeria before?! Has he done this kind of profound gesture?! What makes you think he can offset such bills?! How did u convince him to sponsor?! Does he have kids of his own?! Are they also in the united states?! CONVICTION is the key, make up good and simple answers, the "who is sponsoring you?!" question should be ammo to block and grab ur visa, PM me so we can relate more |

zeezahbee: Good one Zee! Travelers (especially first timers) get unnecessarily nervous at airports and with customs. Insofar as you've not done anything wrong, why would you be worried? I flew Qatar too but didn't go through Barcelona because of the language barrier. I opted for London and my luck even shine the customs guys allowed me enter for 24hrs when I didn't even have a shengen visa. It boils down to the way you comport yourself. You know we Nigerians can be very defensive especially when we face a law enforcement officer but it's not a good practice abroad. The border control man at London heathrow asked me what I'll be doing for my long layover and I explained how I tried to get a visa so I can visit family and friends but I couldn't complete the process. He then asked me if I would like to still enter and visit them and I couldn't even hide my excitement, he stamped my passport and told me not to be late for my connecting flight. Funny thing is, after I was stamped and I let the counter, I still went to ask a law enforcement officer if the stamp really meant I could enter into the city and he said "if you're standing where you are now you're out already" My point is, do not be nervous when you know you haven't done anything wrong. Explain yourself calmly and politely. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Busconductor: That's right. If you finish 1 degree and proceed on to the next one in school, you are still in status even though your visa may have expired long ago. You would only need to renew the visa if you want to travel out and re-enter. Visa is only a permit to travel. It is not your status in the country. |

I agree with all the responses here regarding the lady turned back at the abu dhabi POE. If her intentions had been to visit prospective schools and talk to program directors, then it would've been perfectly reasonable to carry her academic documents. But she probably told them the purpose of her trip was solely tourism. The CBP officers can use that against her should she decide to sue. Moving on, if you're a prospective GRE test taker and you need tips on how to crack the GREs (Quant or verbal) let me know, i may be able to give you some pointers (based on my own experience o) |

DeeTus: I kinda agree with you. Is it illegal to carry credentials on a tourist visa/Visit? Abi her case is just one big bad luck (that's me thinking like a Nigerian) because really, what are the odds? |

Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 7 by bigfrancis21: 5:09pm On Jul 05, 2015 |
efizzy22: Please don't book a round ticket. You need a one-way ticket as an F1 student because you are most likely not going back in at least 1 year. If you already booked a round ticket, call up the airline and request a refund on the return trip and they should be able to do that for you. Looking for someone to sell it to isn't realistic. |

Zeezahbee Boss lady!!! how far. How's pharmacy school? Do you know much about this fpgee and naplex exam. A friend here is disturbing my life. I told her to write exam to be a pharm tech first and later find her feet within the profession. I hope I advised her well sha. Just want a second opinion because I read she has to repeat internship and the quality of our medical /rx schools can't compete with theirs there if she wants to enter the profession directly without being in the system for a short time. She's smart tho. Pharm salaries start at >110K with benefits . but tech is like 40-50k. She got a migrant visa. |
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 7 by bigfrancis21: 5:22pm On Jul 05, 2015 |
Stewee: It is not illegal to carry one's certificate. You can carry all your degrees in life but don't put them where they would be easily seen by others especially the port of entry agents. Put them in your box which you will check in at MMIA Lagos. I'm very sure she put all her certificates into a see-through folder and carried the folder on her hand enter airplane land for doha dey waka dey go...until dem catch am. |

bigfrancis21: Hahahahahahahahahaah You funny bruh but we really can't be laughing at someone's misfortune. The last thing I'll ever do is to check in my documents ... I trusted them at MMIA with common stock fish and indomie and they disappointed me, so NO! Caution should be our watchword! |
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 7 by Nobody: 5:37pm On Jul 05, 2015 |
bigfrancis21:Exactly, you got it right on the issue of deportation. Same thing happened to a colleague of mine at work, he's Indian and the brother came visiting with all his school's transcripts, certificate and some loan certificate he got. He told me his brother was sent on secondary inspection and that's how they detected his intentions. Boss, how's work? its not been easy here o. I thought working longer hours was that easy I sleep now like a polar bear. |
