Some racialist claims Igbos are more successful than other African tribes because they mixed with Eurasians, therefore proving that Africans are inferior to Eurasians, (rehash of the old hemetic theory.)

Words I had left a similar comment on the Chisala article, but thought it might be useful to again note the recent post by Razib Khan which discussed genetic evidence of Nigerians having some DNA from Eurasian pastoralists that interbred with the local population thousands of years ago.

Igbo often have skin tones and eye colors that are significantly lighter than the typical West African (for example see Andre Iguodala).

It would seem that if genetic analysis shows that if the Igbo indeed do have more Eurasian DNA than other West Africans, their high achievement will end up supporting the hereditarian view rather than weakening it.

He specifically singled out igbos as being one of the groups who do well academically in the UK and US, therefore disproving the racists theories that Africans are less intelligent than Europeans and Asians.

The racialist now claim that Igbos are just more superior to other black people, the racialist anthropologist Peter Frost claims Igbos even before contact with Europeans had a superior civilization to other Africans (I don't think he's being factual).

I don't know why you're even paying attention to these "racialists", and, no, Igbos don't have any Eurasian DNA.

Is Andre Iguodala of Igbo descent? Didn't know that. I thought his last name had an Edoid ring to it. I'm open to correction on this though.

And no, Igbos don't have Eurasian ancestry. At least there are no conclusive evidence of genetic relations with the peoples of Eurasia.

My current IT manager at my work place who manages the IT infrastructure of all 7 libraries on campus is Igbo and is very highly intelligent. Iguodala's father is Bini and his mother is African American. The person who made that comment, in addition to not being willing to carry out basic research on the actual ancestry of the person he's using as an example, also probably has no idea what the "typical West African" looks like anyway, and I doubt he's ever been to west Africa. Why don't such people focus on determining the "typical" characteristics of their own groups and leave Africans alone?

Some of the people in the comments section losing their minds over Chisala's article are just desperate for a way to hold on to their beliefs. I saw so much misinformation and conjecture on there that it would take hours if not days to counter it all. HBD blogs and websites are usually trash in general and filled with mediocre minds so it's no surprise to even find people trying to claim any group of black people is mixed (even with no evidence at all provided) once their performance runs contrary to whatever stereotypes they believe about black people.

I understand that argument: you also need to understand their argument that the igbo ancestors migrated from middle east, Israel. It is a formidable historical theory, they are not claiming to be Israeli, how does it hurt? It is not the duty of a man to force 'African pride' on others, that too is attach by force. Maybe their claim is theological if not historical yet, it shouldnt become a problem but academic quest to whoever has the time, since there is audience for it. Let the findings be uphold or debunked. Let others too question or promote their origin if it is important to them, simple.

Op, you are being bribed to be inferior: if you are better than your neighbours because some aliens interbred with locals, you are inferior to both. It is not the locals saying you are the best, but the 'self-acclaimed best' hypnotising you.

Some of them are claiming to be Jewish (call themselves jews of West Africa).... It is a different thing to admire the jewish resilience, or the Jewish lifestyle, but what these people are doing, is a wholly different ball game all together.... What other evidence is required to 'debunk' the theory? The igbo man has no genetic relation of any kind to any middle eastern populations. Infact, the only major group of people in Nigeria with significant Eurasian ancestry, The Fulanis, are still local to West Africa.... so what are we talking about here?

If the Eurasian addition is what add the "S" to smart, then why is it that the Ethiopians who are well known to be one of the few Admixed SSA populations are unapologetically poor and underdeveloped?

My post wasn't a contradiction or confirmation actually. I was just stating from what I have experienced. Yes, his issue is more of a race thing rather than ethnic.
