I spent my evening today with an American, as we were ducussing, I said "oya", he looked at me and asked me the meaning, I thought and thought and I couldn't think of an answer. I hope you guys in the house can help me.

"oya" directly translates to "now." Not necessarily in the context of time, but as a subtle command.

e.g

"Now, leave this place."

same as
"Oya, leave this place."

or

"Oya, give me jist."
same as
"Now, tell me how it went down."

cool
