Following Tuesday’s bomb blast at Sabon-gari Local Government Area, Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai has banned street begging and hawking  in order to enhance security.

In a statement issued by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Samuel Aruwan, all beggars and hawkers are to stay off the streets until further notice.

It read further: “Any beggar or hawker found on the streets will be arrested, until these measures are relaxed.”

In addition to the banning of hawkers and beggars, El-Rufai equally  reiterated  the ban on commercial motorcycle taxis in the state, stressing that “the law will be strictly enforced in this regard.”

The Governor urged all citizens to report all suspicious persons and movements to the security agencies.

He also commended the people of the state for promptly embracing the crucial necessity of watchful vigilance and attention to security.

For those hawking... He can build shops for them and rent it out at affordable prices...


For the beggars.. This is a wake up call for them to rise up to use their hands to work....



And for the handicapped beggars................................ May God help them...

u ban hawking means u wanna increase stealing...I wonder when these pple will understand dat nigeria is under-developed.

I don't think it's a good move because it'd increase unemployment, economic hardship and other sufferings which might metamorphize into stealing by affected parties. This action is wrong IMHO.

What El-Rufai should do is to copy the Chadians and ban wearing of any type of Hijab TEMPORARILY for now till this bombing issues subsides. These new breed of female terrorist hides these locally-made bombs in their hijabs.

Banning hawking might not work since the bombers can go to market and other gatherings and bomb people.

We need this policy too in Ibadan. All these northerners have over flooded the whole place begging and sitting every where constituting an eye sore in the whole place.
