Nigeria uses a much higher Poverty indicator than any country in Africa.

The report is clear, 39% of South-Africans, and 12 million of your people live in extreme poverty.

South Africa's and Nigeria's internal definition of poverty is irrelevant

World Bank puts our poverty figure at 9% and yours at 33%

show your hand.

Nothing could be more laughable than a "developed" country with a peaceful atmosphere ranking 122ndgrin worse place to live.
Nigeria was rated 117 out of 121 countries on the GPI scale in 2007, thus the 5th most shityest country in the world! we were ranked 99th
and in 2008 Nigeria was ranked 147th out of 162 countries we were ranked 105th(Higher than the US)

Factually speaking you don't. Probably 5000 more.

1. I posted a citation with figures
2. You have not (and are using words like "probably"wink

We produce 100X more power than you, if you wish to dispute this then provide data to substantiate your claims.

Well, according to wiki (well, the sources contained in the article)

Nigeria is the worlds 67th biggest cement manufacturer*

South Africa is the worlds 26th biggest*

*Based off 2008 figures

Nigeria produces 45 million metric tonnes of cement, South-Africa produces 25 million metric tonnes.

I really don't get your figures.

Citations have also been provided for mine, only household generated power isn't captured, and given our population, I estimated it between 8000- 10000mw.

You probably produce only 5000mw more power than Nigeria. This is if we aren't higher.

Contrary to what you may believe, producing military hardware isnt as simple as boiling noodles. How ironic for you to continue puffing vigorously into a vuvuzela about Nigeria's fledgling defense industry, when all the hardwares you have ever made are failures of catastrophic magnitude: rooivalk, oliphant, cobra,Denel seeker suv. drone etc...
At least we dont cloak a french land cruiser with armour and pass it off as an indigenous IFV{like a country we all know}.

lol...the question remains:when are you going to make your own?

Present the figures.
How do you want me to present figures on privately generated electricity in SA? Unlike Nigeria we dont have to generate our own electricity to survive, its an expected service provided by the Government!

Why do you think when we have 4 hours of load shedding a week it makes front page news? If the lights went of for only 8 hours a week in Nigeria your people will literally sh1t themselves out of shock and joy!!

South Africa produces 257.9 b/kwh (17th in the world)

Nigeria produces 24 b/kwh (67th in the world)
http://www.indexmundi.com/g/r.aspx?v=79&t=100

South Africa produces 100X the electricity Nigeria does.

The two new power stations we are building equal your entire national power grid
Measuring in terms of kilowatts per hour does not account for 'lost volts';
In Nigeria's case, hundreds of kilowatts are lost during transmittion and distribution of power, while hundreds more cannot be accessed due to gas shortfall and decrease in water level{for our dams}.
Therefore, measuring in b/kwh is highly inaccurate.
PS: How does 257.9 b/kwh amount to 100 times of 24 b/kwh?
I know mathematics isnt a south african's fort,but damn!,use a calculator!{if you know how to use one}

You miss the point entirely. We are talking about power generated in each country. It doesn't matter if it is Privately generated or Government generated power. It is simply power generated. I don't think Power in the US is generated by the government?

What is the captive power output of each individual country? This was the question. Not what the government or private sector provides.

Again, figures have been provided. If South-Africa produces more electricity than Nigeria, it surely isn't above 5000mw.

This is an actual fact.

Again, that's not accurate. Heavy duty manufactures who aren't on the grid produce 15,000mw of power. There is also household power generation.

You cannot just toss them out because they aren't on the grid or provide supplementary power.

Just because Henry says so, then we should all take his words to be true.

Is all about 46 000 MW against 3000MW.

On race, it is a fact of life. You cannot wish racial inequality away in South-Africa.

On Poverty in South-Africa

South Africa: Where 12 million live in extreme poverty

Last year, the World Bank gave South Africa a good story tell. It released a report that said due to South Africa's “slightly progressive” tax system and “highly progressive” government spending, around 3.6 million people have been lifted out of poverty, halving the number of South Africans living on less than $1.25 a day. Because of grants, free basic services and taxes favouring the poor, the poverty rate dropped from 46.2% to 39%.

Poverty: 33.1%
Unemployment : 24 %

South-Africa

Poverty: 39%
Unemployment: 26.40%

Those statistics are ridiculous.

It is logical that poverty in South Africa is better than in Nigeria. South Africa has 5X more revenues than Nigeria and as well has less than one third of Nigeria's total population

SA is the only country in Africa that gives:

Pensions
Free groceries
Free houses
Child support grants
Disability grant
Free medical care
School feeding schemes
Orphans allowances and many more.

In Nigeria nothing for free. Poverty is on its peak amounting to 70% of the population- WORLD BANK.
