That thing was a nightmare to kids. Our Barber used it on me in the late eighties. I remember vividly how I used to run with my legs hitting the back of my head whenever it was time for a visit to the wicked Barber. And my people will catch me and bundle me to the barber's. That thing gave horrible pain, and the sadistic barbers seemed to enjoy using it on kids.

The coming of the electric clipper in the early nineties was a much welcome development. A visit to the Barber become fun.

Remember those days when those mobile barbers with different hair styles drawn on a small plywood darkened like a blackboard. And we got our hair barbed with this manual clipper and the barber will give us a hair style called GO TO SCHOOL. The barber will ask you to choose which style you want, no matter your choice, we ended up with GO-TO-SCHOOL

I didn't meet this clipper but i remember my elder bros used comb and blade to cut my head sorry I mean my hair.

Back then in the 80's, when the old barber grabs my temples, I hear "chakam chakam chakam" the thing pain die!

I always didn't know which was more painful, the barber's strong hold on my head or that of d clippers on my scalp.

The sound of the barber's bicycle den sends me and my siblings scampering to take our baths, lest he come and meet our hair dry.
Anytime he comes and our hair is dry, he barbs, but if it's wet, he goes away!

I last used this in December 1984 when Michael Jackson's Thriller and Fresh from Kool and the Gang were the hit songs in my street. Only God saved us from contracting anything with the number of people sharing the clipper those days.

Then there was this board with drawings of different haristyles. My mum never allowed me to cut the punk that Charly Boy popularized. It was always sekuraization because of lice.

I remember oh! In ma village when we were still young, one old man used to barb us, we really disliked him...it was painful but he would just keep holding tight to our fragile heads
