Presidency Responds To Kayode Ogundamisi's Open Letter On Exploitation Of IDPS by seunmsg(m): 7:52am On Jul 10, 2015 |
The presidency has responded to an open letter written on behalf of some whistle blowers by social activist, Kayode Ogundamisi, over the terrible living conditions of Internally displaced persons in Borno state. According to the presidency, the condition of the IDPs is something that concerns Pres. Muhammadu Buhari very much and which he is determined to fix. In the open letter, Ogundamisi had written about the issues of exploitation, corruption, forced relocation, insecurity and dashed hopes of the IDPs. He also offered some recommendations. Senior special assistant on media and publicity in the office of the vice president, Laolu Akande, said in a statement on Wednesday that “President Muhammadu Buhari is deeply concerned about the IDPs and the living conditions in their camps, and that was why he sent his Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo to personally assess the situation in some of those places last week.” The administration assured Nigerians that attention will be given to the plight of the IDPs. “Restoring the dignity and material well being of these citizens is a key objective of the Buhari presidency,” the statement said. Akande disclosed in the statement that the administration is now developing ways and means to enhance the services and output of all relevant agencies in this area (including NEMA), the state governments, volunteer agencies and international development partners. http://www.thescoopng.com/presidency-responds-to-kayode-ogundamisis-open-letter-on-exploitation-of-idps/?utm_campaign=shareaholic&utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=socialnetwork |

The response is remarkable; VP sent to the camps immediately! Before an official statement. Action speaks louder than words. Were it under the previous administration you would have heard things like "we will look at the allegation and bring the situation under control and... bla bla bla" or "that open letter is misguided and it is the handwork of enemies of progress determined to see that all the good works we are doing for the IDPs are discredited..." by Okupe the big B. ECOTERRORS: For the presidency to have responded to Ogundamisi's open letter shows that we have a listening president. Am also sure you saw the part that said the vice president has been sent to personally assess the situation of things at the IDPS. The president is not procrastinating as you alleged and steps are being taking to improve the condition of the IDPS. 1 Like |
