The north cannot single handedly win the presidency without the support of at least 5 southern states giving them 25% and the south also can't win the presidency without at least, 25% of votes from 7 northern states. So, Buhari and Tinubu need each other. Beside, Buhari can't win all the 19 northern states so, he will always need a southern ally and Tinubu comes in handy. You don't get what I mean by "survive" , staying relevant and influential in national politics is
Tinubu's ultimate goal.
Do you think he cares much about being the "Baba I sale" for area boys during OBJ's reign ?
OBJ gave him enough trouble to deal with so much that he didn't have time for regional politics because her was busy defending his lifeline.

One thing about ambitious politicians is that they aren't simply interested in winning that chairmanship or governorship posts, it is about what happens in the next 4, 8.. years, in that regard OBJ completely caged Tinubu.
