Manchester United have agreed a deal with Bayern Munich over the transfer of Bastian Schweinsteiger, according to Bild.

Man United have reportedly paid between €18m and €20m for the German World Cup winner, who has signed a three-year contract.

Schweinsteiger and Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge agreed the transfer before the player went on holiday earlier this summer and the move was eventually confirmed on Thursday upon his return.

The 30-year-old has won everything there is to win with Bayern and the club has given him their blessing to make the switch.

United fans will be excited to hear about the signing as the team were crying out for a dominant presence in the middle of the park last term.

However, the hope is that the transfer doesn’t affect the pursuit of Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin.

as for smalling, you are correct. darmian will lock that rightback position down. the number of utility players in the squad is ridiculous. only de gea & shaw are nailed down in one position. others can function in at least 2-3 positions.

FA cup.

that's about 50+ games! only the performers should be starting & this is why van gaal has to review his wayne rooney policy.

We still need a CDM ( Schneiderlein), a CB (Otamendi or Ramos) and a world class striker (................)
If we get those 3 then we are set to make a run for the title.

Some of those players became starters because of the moderate squad we had last season. We need stars now so only serious minded players can play most of the time. We need the competition too. Without competition, Young wouldn't had become so good and displace Maria.

DDG-otamendi-schnerderlin-schwini-rooney is a decent spine. if we can claw lewandowski or lacazette in the CF position, we should win the league next year.

In addition to a word class striker, we need Gaal to finally muster enough morale and courage to bench Rooney if he keeps misfiring.

it's not that easy.
the players have to bed in. the additions are mostly from other leagues, their acclimatisation can take up to 6 months. i would be happy with 2nd position, a s/final finish in europe & 1 of the 2 domestic cups in the kitty.
