But if Israel forces a war against Iran, it won't get popular support, plus it will lose. Even the US are being very cautious in their dealings with Iran, even though Israel is asking them to be more assertive.
But the honest truth is dat if Israel provokes a war with Iran, and it is seen as the aggressor nation, it won't earn the overwhelming support it had previously enjoyed. Causing Israel to lose terribly...

Neither did Iraq win any territory. It seems u don't get int'l politics. This is d reality of it: there are no permanent friends or foes in International relations, all that exist is the national interest.
Do during the Iran-Iraq war, 1980-89, Iran had no int'l support following the Iranian Revolution of 1979 and how this revolution damage its int'l image.
But Iraq on the other hand was relatively richer, and up on till the 5th year of the war, enjoyed US support.
All these are important, and if u don't have both the historical and theoretical outlook, it would be difficult to understand it...

True, the Israelis have a lot of indigenous strategic technology and military wares. But World politics is no longer defined using such crude military strength. Noe wat d world cares about is diplomacy, economy & trade, and int'l security.
Israel has d military tech, but not the diplomatic prowess. Thus it relies on d US for her diplomatic manoeverings. The US can use either hard or soft power; raw military power or economic sanctions to get countries to comply its own interests.
Israel can do dis. So it looks up to d US. For instance, Iran was sanctioned in d early 2000s when its nuclear program was exposed. And even presently, the irsnian nuclear agreements were reached by the P5+1 and Iran. Israel was not invited and had very little inputs to d talks except rhetorics. And it cried dat dat deal was a terrible deal (according the PM Benjamin Nethanyahu).
So u see why they need US diplomatic support?
