Bro, i school in warri.... i know what it's like to live in niger delta. Those people deserved more than what the government is given them.
All alot of guys here have been vomiting trash... niger delta have been feeding the nation for God knows how long on their own detriment. There, food stuff are very expensive, The can't drink water from the well. They are suffering and while in your own region, you can all do that and still take more from the money gotten from oil. Isn't that cheating at the highest oder?
If you believe they don't deserved any special treatment, why not let them be on their own. I bet you, hunger will kill you and your generation within few years.
I was born & brought up in Warri too. Zero naira from the oil money has not touched my hand. Youths just seat idle and at the end of the month, alert go enter. It is not fair on people like me.

Abeg, let them start bombing joor,
even the people of the North are begging that the bombing should come to an end! grin grin

By the time the whole of NDelta turn to rubble, nobody will beg them to stop.

Please bomb, kill and destroy your land & people, they will clap for you at the end.

If l were Buhari, l will not even budge one bit.

Nonsense!

Look...as a South Southerner myself....I agree with you 100%....Niger Delta deserves special treatment.

But....let's be realistic.

Oil prices have dropped from $123 to $65 in less than a year.

And right now....we no longer have the money. Even countries that used to buy oil are now producing oil.

And we still have debts to service...and we are importing. That is a large chunk of the money gone.

And we still have to keep the country running.

Look....Niger Delta has suffered. But the governors of that region...what have they been doing. With the exception of Donald Duke and Akpabio....how many of them have seriously made their state innovative, job producers? All this training we are sending young people outside...could have been done in Nigeria if we had invested in technical and vocational education.

But I digress. The truth is...oil dependent countries are not rich countries. Countries that have money produce goods for export...and export more than they import. Is the Niger Delta productive? How many oil related industries are there in the Delta? How many industries are there that can manufacture componets for oil drilling, even cleaning up the mess?

Get your governors to work and develop innovative economies for you. That is the only solution...because the oil money is not enough. Also stop tolerating corruption. Many of you were defending Alams....when the money he stole was your money. How can you complain of Hausas stealing your money...and when someone joins them Hausas to steal the money...from your area ...it is OK?

All of you Nigerians....development occurs when you use education to solve problems. Not when you get your share of oil money. Simples.

On a more serious note, l salute your courage!

I prefer Govt set up more Petro-chemical industries that all these cash handouts that have no benefit and makes able-bodied act like they are disabled and cant work.

What they need is work, not aid or free money, except they are born-lazy.

But seven years of free money should be reasonably enough, at least Asari was able to build university in Lome, from it

Book Haram is of top priority to Buhari, not anything else for now.

Yes, releasing boko boys under detention, granting them free movement to East and granting dem amnesty is top priority to buhari..

They need to work with the states and as an interim measure to transfer the responsibility to the different states which need to be time limited or do people expect to go to school for ever would they not be required to get into the work force and use the training gained.

I do hope that there is no expectation that these payments will continue in perpetuity as that will be unrealistic and send the wrong signals.

9ja problems plenty.

Buhari should thread carefully on this matter, you can't stop amnesty for the Niger delta militants while your imploring negotiations and amnesty for the insurgents, it's simply injustice.
Do the right thing mr president so we won't resurrect a sleeping monster.

I laughed each time i see Niger deltans being called a sleeping dogs/monsters.

When you want to stop something, you dont just put a halt..

The amnesty programme was instituted to appease a situation..

Is there any policy on ground to tackle what gave rise to amnesty?

All said and done, for those of you supporting the FGN..

Are you saying they should leave fellow Nigerians stranded all over the world?

You wanna stop their scholarship, arrange for them to come down to Nigeria and finish their studies.

Abi you want them to become dropouts..

By the way, Any agitation by the militants will cripple Nigeria economically..

One of the bombs used by the Boko haram to kill 10 people can wreak enough damage that runs into millions of dollars.

These Idi0ts are excuses for militants. A militant orders for something by force, a militant takes whatever he/she wants. A militant doesn't beg for crumbs. These people answering names that doesn't have any meaning whatsoever in the history of mankind, e.g Niger-Delta, South South e.t.c. I spit on your faces.

Any agitation by the militants will cripple Nigeria economically.. Hausa Igbo and Yoruba state government depend on them for everything, the militants has the power to reduce oil production to zero, check history they have done it before at the time they were not as powerful as they are today. just dust your brain and think again
