Mr hoodboy, all this explanations won't take you no where, trying to push faults or blame won't fix your car. Sometimes, its better to plead especially when you have a lot at stake and the other person have nothing to lose. You're matured enough to know what I mean and what you ought to do. Or should I who have given you a mat to lie upon also teach you how to lie on it with your wife (an adage I just spoke)? |

lomomike: Plead? really, gazzuzz owes me an apology, whether or not he tenders it is his business. If He feels he did nothing wrong, no problem. I felt aggrieved, and I have voiced my grievance. I had a bad experience, and there is absolutely nothing wrong in sharing it 21 Likes |

Just coming across this story, well rather too late tgan never. Many of the car owner wanna be DIY Thereby causing themselves arm than good. Buy trying to know the cost of part in the market and comparing with the prife u give them. From experience, as a tecnician. The Kazeem kinf of technicians always have a luxury of time following the owner to the market in getting parts and at the end coniving with the seller by inflating the price and persuade the owner to buy and collecting his ( kazeem) own share unknown to the owner. Some time the owner is lucky to get a good part and if it turns the other way Kazeem will let u know u both were involved so dont blame him. Somtimes, too know makes some car owner to fall in a wrong hand, and not bother to make enquiries about the integrity of the technician that u want to work on you car. Many car owners are always in an awry and want things done once they drop money and they dont also want to care about the job you have at hand at that moment, so they put the technician in a rush. |

Coldplay007: Took the vehicle to Ayolola motors today, They specialise on Volkswagen and Toyota, and I like what I saw in their workshop. Did a search on NL and and found their address listed by someone who had previously used them, since they were in surulere I paid them a visit and now my car is there. I hope they get it right. Now the thing is even when I took to Gazzuzz, he didn't even test drive the car with me, and when I suggested that he came over to pick it up so at least he can see how it drives he said he couldn't. These things help to build confidence, and perhaps is what made me want to be very much involved in the repair process. Knowing fully well that I'd be leaving with it to Port-harcourt and would not have the luxury of stopping by at his workshop if issues arise. So fingers crossed, eventually everything is going to be alright. My issue with him was his attitude, I didn't say he should compromise his "standards", it is not like I was foretold, so I wasn't in anyway wrong to assume that I'll be part of the procurement process, not because I had it in mind to haggle price, as the price he gave me was quite competitive and I was comfortable with it. Yes I know he's quite influential in this section as he is quite active and offers solutions to people's problems which is what even made me call him in the first instance, but If you understand the distance driven, you would know that him not giving me a listening ear was quite wrong. I still wait for him to say if I spoke to him in a rude manner or not, as some people are suggesting that might have been what happened. Will take it that he was probably on his "period"(no offence) but everyone has got issues so we have to learn to live and let live. 20 Likes |

I just could not resist commenting after going through this thread because i've had a similar experience but a different outcome. I can recall that years ago when I got my first car I needed to have the compressor changed. So I got to the expert following a recommendation from a friend. The mechanic checked it out and confirmed I needed a new compressor and told me the amount. I replied that it was ok by me and asked him to tell me when it was convenient for us to go pick it up. He gave me a funny look and told me he doesn't work that way and he would simply make a call and it will be delivered if not I was free to go buy it myself but he will not give any guarantees. I simply played along with him and he did a very good job at the end. Looking back now I do not bother to accompany any mechanic to get any car part. It is absolutely unnecessary, all you need to do is have an idea of the price and get someone trustworthy as a mechanic that will deliver good service. I think hoodboy may have been a victim of transferred aggression. From the good reports on Gazzuz his honesty and competence seem not to be in doubt. He may have been in a bad mood or you struck a wrong cord inadvertently. It happens and both of you should just move on peacefully. 7 Likes |

@hoodboy, even without seeking to hear gazzuzz own side of the story, am certain u have not told us all that transpired b/w u both. gazzuzz I know that is so compassionate that he can travel quite a distance to rescue a distressed vehicle and relieve the owner's pain and most often without a fee CANNOT ask u to take your vehicle back home merely becoz u requested to accompany him to the market for the purchase. I would also want to know what you meant by calling him 'petty' U'd better not delay apologizing to him because u will certainly need him soon. 1 Like |

CMGO: @CMGO why not ask him what happened, rather than assume, me I've moved on. As for needing help, last I checked no one is indispensable. I wonder what else I'd have called his behaviour if not petty. I drive all that distant after we had agreed that you'd fix my vehicle, I had even asked him on Sunday when we first met if they were going to deliver the engine to his place, and he said he'd prefers to go select, then I get there on Tuesday to drop off the vehicle for him to drop down the Engine as he had said so we can get a new one the next day, only for me to be told to drop money for engine which I didn't come with as I had assumed it was the next day it was to be gotten, and the place it would be gotten from is near my location and Inhad thought I'd follow him. Immediately I mentioned this he just got upset and asked me to leave with my vehicle, even when I tried to reason with him and reach a compromise, he wouldn't speak with me. It was at this point I reminded him of the distance and stress to which he replied he didn't care, at that point I called him petty, and I was clearly not out of place. He owes me an apology, whether he does or not changes nothing, but he owes me one. 12 Likes |

robedu: My Brother, if you want low budget and peace of mind, just understand your car and DIY on it the industry standard way-many does it this way the world all over. It doesn't condescend your personality, else drop your car with qualified service centre and go to sleep, if you are the BIG BOSS type(money shouldn't be an issue here). Service centres though expensive, will put the car overall mechanism back in good working shape. I DIY my 3 Benz's, keep them functional at maximum factory health all year round at almost no cost, contrary to the opinion of some who claims that these cars are unreliable-tho i'm surprise to hear a toyota behaves this way-i tought they way the most reliable brandm as polished here always... |

Does he repair the car for free and you pay him later ? If Yes, then you are dealing with a trainee mechanic here. Rule number 1: Do not make friends with a mechanic. 1 Like |

Avensis is a hopeless car, anything beyond 100,000 kms it burns the top cylinder, dont ever race an Avensis, drive it slugisshly. Sell it and buy another car after good research. You must change the top if you havent done that already |

Join a Toyota forum where you can share your problem and get advice on how to solve it as some of this problems can be fixed by owners if only we have the time, right tools and do a bit of research. Il advise change mechanic of you no get time and don't pay him for one issue 4 times else you become a maga |
