For the sake of our newcomers and those that still have some issues with lesson 1 that's, on the production of liquid soap. I have decided we review some things to help us avoid mistakes.

Here are the common issues usually encounter by first timers. I have had to answer questions and to resolve them almost on daily basis on the following:

- Liquid soap not too thick

- There are lumps in the product

- liquid soap not as thick as it was when first produced

- Not foaming as desired

We are going to quickly resolve these before we move on to the next issues.

Please, to those that I have referred back to this thread kindly take your time to read this carefully.

Thanks.

Problem 1

Liquid soap not thick

Solution:

From the explanation given on the functions of our chemicals, we obviously know that nitrosol is our thickening agent (thickner)

So, if you don't feel ok or impressed with the thickness of your product, then it means you'll have to increase the quantity of nitrosol used.

On this note, I advice every first timer to always carry out the assigment on page one before moving on to produce in larger quantity. The assigment is for like 3 litres of liquid soap. If you have any question on that, you may please ask.

Also, another point to really look at is, reading the instruction ensure you have understood the procedures before embarking on the production. For instance, the instruction on the quantity of nitrosol to be used in 20 litres of liquid soap says: 1 tin milk cup (very full).

Which means you have to make sure you measure it very full and not just at the mouth level of the cup. Just the way a cup of garri is measured in the market. Very full and not half full.

To be continued.

Thanks.

The data seller above me though.
You better learn a hand work today and stop spamming my thread anyhow. Hehehe

Heyllo ma'am, let me assume I know what you need the beeswax for, might be wrong though. In case I'm right, tell them to give you craddle wax or candle wax.

Some of them don't really know the difference between a candle wax and beeswax. Who cares? Since everything will almost work the same. But on a serious note, candle wax is usually harder in texture compare to the beeswax. While candle wax is meant mainly for production of candles just as the name implies, the beeswax on the other hand is used mostly in the production of cosmetics.

Thanks.

Problem 2.

Lumps (seed) in liquid soap

Solution:

One common reason there are lumps in liquid soap is the method used in dissolving the nitrosol. When the quantity of water used in dissolving the nitrosol is too small compare to the quantity of nitrosol used, there can be lumps.

First, never add water to nitrosol but always add nitrosol to water.

You measure the quantity of water to be used into an empty bowl then, you gradually add the nitrosol and stir immediately.

For instance, if you are to dissolve 4 spoons of nitrosol in water, you add the nitrosol gradually like one spoon at a time into your water and continue to stir while adding the remaining.

Ensure you have a clear and smooth paste of nitrosol before proceeding to another level.

Secondly, when diluting your sulphurnic acid: don't pour sulphurnic into water but water into the sulphurnic acid, it'll be easier to dissolve that way.

Yea, I know what you are thinking right? The rule.

Normally, in chemistry we say you should always add acid to water and not water to acid......but don't worry, your sulphurnic acid is a weak acid, it's not that reactive.

So, first pour the sulphurnic acid into an empty bowl then, add your texapon and stir till you have a smooth paste. Then add water and stir again till everything blends together.

Now, if you use water not sufficient in dissolving your sulphurnic acid, it'll form 'amala' for you. I beg what's amala in English o? Well, someone can help me translate that into english for the sake of our viewers from outside Naija.

Please, forgive every grammatical blunder.......*sigh*

Thanks.

Still on nitrosol. You notice when dissolving the nitrosol in water it doesn't immediately become thick........let me give you a short cut to that.

Once you notice the nitrosol has completely dissolved in water and no powder seen, to thicken up the solution, just add your caustic soda directly into the dissolved nitrosol and stir. It'll become thick immediately.

Please, note that if you use the above method, you won't need to add caustic soda again.

Sleepy eyes........to be continued. Good night everyone.

Thanks.

Next two weeks, I'll be taking a week off, starting from 13th-19th. My initial plan was to just have fun especially, sleeping all day and spending some good time with a special friend, Lols.

Somehow, something crossed my mind. I could take a week off to impact some people's life.

Here's the plan. I will be creating a new thread soon, will allow everybody on Nairaland to choose any item of their choice and I will have a one on one training with them for free.

This will be good for those on bbm, may also create a watsap group for that, not sure of that yet though.

This is for only those who are ready to carry out the production because you'll need to get your materials ready before asking for my guide.

Vision:

To help you start a business in production line.

Though I can't give you fish, I can show you how to catch fish.

Everything that you need to know in any line chosen will be fully covered, all for free. All you need to do is to get your materials ready.

Agreement:

You will have to agree that after the one week break is over, I will safely remove you from my contact, either bbm or watsap.

Watch out for the thread, coming up soon.
Strongbest.

Thanks.

Please sir, how do we know when you create the new thread n how do we get your BBM pin?
