^^^ The figures on the right side were goals Rooney scored in the matches. He was enjoying himself in the hole and he was asked to go play where he would help defence. Haba! |

elampiro: the games were not rapid. we played madrid on the 5th of march @OT! rooney was a sub & asking to him play in the midfield in a 10-man team shouldn't be a big ask. we didn't play any game after madrid until the 16th of march when we beat reading. rooney played in the hole & scored the only goal in the game. there was another 2 weeks break & we didn't play any game until the 30th of march when we played sunderland @the stadium of light. rooney didn't even make the travelling squad for that game. after that game, we faced city 8 days later on a monday night at OT! rooney played in the hole and we lost the game via ryan giggs error. i hope you are following the event bit by bit. after the city loss which was disappointing, we faced stoke away from home. rooney started in the midfield in this game alongside carrick. the first time he would play there in the entire period you quoted. after the stoke game, we played west ham @upton park. kagawa was on the left & rooney was in the hole. game ended 2-2 with kagawa supplying an assist from a wide area. the next game was against aston villa....the day we won the league. rooney played in the midfield yet again with kagawa taking the hole position & giggs operating from the left. __________ in a nutshell, rooney was played out of position only twice in that long period. if that was his reason to throw temper tantrums then he deserved to have been sold. van persie played out of position against stoke too to make way for hernandez, why didn't he cry to the media that he wanted out? |

elampiro: are you sure about this? that is kagawa supplying an assist from the left channel for valencia to tap in...

coogar:How can you say the games were not rapid? From Madrid away game he played about four matches to the day we won the league against Villa. Considering the tension SAF compounded it jor. I am tired now. After West Ham game, Alan Shearer said Rooney might leave Man United. That if he were the one he would ask questions. |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 11:15pm On Jul 13, 2015 |
elampiro: how were the games rapid? the first madrid game was feb 13....our next game after that was against QPR(feb 23), rooney was even a 62nd minute substitute for hernandez. that's 10 days after madrid game & rooney didn't start the game - that is rapid to you? the next game after QPR was against norwich(march 2) & rooney was in the hole. that was the match kagawa bagged his hatrick & rooney scored the 4th goal. which of these events made rooney angry at playing for united?
you should be knackered - the facts don't back your assertion. this was never about rooney playing in the hole, his anger was that he wasn't playing as the lead striker. he played a lot of games in the hole after the madrid games.
alan shearer is an ïdiot! i dunno why you pay attention to folks like that. even in his constituency, he isn't rated. what does shearer know about football? |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 11:30pm On Jul 13, 2015 |
coogar: You dont understand. The games were very close. If Rooney had played one midfield game in August, one in November, one in February and another in April. He wouldnt feel bitter. But he played in number 10 all season and he suddenly got 5 matches off position out of about 8/9 matches. Tomorrow I will try to get that West Ham match. |

Wayne Rooney: midfield role made player want to leave Manchester Utd Manchester United player 'happy' and 'settled' under Moyes 'I got told to play in midfield and I didn't want to' Thursday 10 October 2013 11.42 BST Wayne Rooney has spoken publicly for the first time about his reasons for wanting to leave Manchester United and blamed his disillusionment on Sir Alex Ferguson playing him out of position after the signing of Robin van Persie. Advertisemen Rooney described himself as "happy" and "settled" at Old Trafford now David Moyes is in charge but the England striker notably stopped short when asked to clarify whether that meant he wanted to stay in Manchester or if he would renew his attempts to leave next summer. Choosing his words carefully, all Rooney would say on the subject was there would be more discussions behind the scenes. The England striker, preparing for the World Cup qualifiers against Montenegro and Poland, went on to offer his backing to Roy Hodgson in the wake of Harry Redknapp's comments that he would not trust the "clueless" Football Association "to show him a good manager if their lives depended on it". Despite admitting he initially wanted Redknapp to get the job, Rooney says Hodgson has turned out to be the England manager he has enjoyed playing for the most, and that the FA made "the right decision" choosing him ahead of Redknapp. Advertisemen However, it is his relationship with Ferguson that provides the backdrop to Rooney's explanation about the chain of events that led to him trying to engineer a move to Chelsea in the summer. He does not mention the former United manager once by name. Yet, in another sense, Ferguson is implicated in everything as the picture emerges of a player who had started to feel undervalued and mistreated after Van Persie's arrival from Arsenal. Asked whether he had raised his concerns with the relevant people at Old Trafford, Rooney opened his arms to show his exasperation and smiled knowingly. "Yeah, and …" That was the meeting at which he apparently told Ferguson he might leave and an already strained relationship was fractured. Ferguson dropped Rooney from his team and, to the player's dismay, publicised what had been said during a live television interview, describing it as a verbal transfer request. Rooney's account is that, after nearly a decade at the club, he felt he had done enough to warrant a place in "my position" and was fed up of being told to help out in midfield. "Everyone at the club knew where I wanted to play and I think that's why I was disappointed. I got told to play in midfield and I didn't want to. I just think there had to come a point when, for my own career, I had to be a bit selfish really." This goes back to last spring, not long after he had been left out of United's starting XI to face Real Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final. "I actually felt when I played in midfield I did OK, but I didn't want to play there. I've had no problem in the past playing out of position. But I felt I deserved the right to play in my position and that wasn't happening. "I think, naturally, I was a bit disappointed and maybe that affected some of the games I played. I know myself that last year wasn't my best season but there were times when I was playing in different positions. I didn't feel I got a consistent run of games up front. Sometimes when you're not playing in one position all the time it's difficult to adapt." http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/oct/09/wayne-rooney-reasons-leave-manchester-united |

^^^ It's clear here. He even gave this interview when he was playing number for Moyes behind Van Persie. |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 11:49pm On Jul 13, 2015 |
i doubt you read the article you quoted. the evidence is right there & yet you failed to see it. rooney wanted the CF position, not the hole position.
it was van persie's arrival that led to rooney being played out of position. this was what we were telling you earlier in the day & you refused to listen.
van persie's arrival threatened rooney. he felt he was undervalued & mistreated cos he was the one being asked to help in the midfield. in a nutshell, if we didn't sign RVP that summer, rooney would never have been asked to play in the midfield. guardian sports is practically rehashing all what we told you in the afternoon. 1 Like |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 11:59pm On Jul 13, 2015 |
coogar: I read the article. Rooney was talking about midfield. He never mentioned CF. The writer assumed like you guys. Some writers think Rooney as second striker to RVP. Rooney position has always been number 10. RVP never conflicted Rooney. He said he was happy playing in number 10 behind Moyes. |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 12:05am On Jul 14, 2015 |
elampiro: the writer assumed? rooney played out of position twice to help the team & you think that was reason enough for him to want to quit man utd? come on now, how does any of that make any sense? i have analysed game to game what happened after the madrid games. if anything, it was the loss against city that made SAF rejig the team. RVP was also played out of position against stoke. why didn't he want out of the club? |

Sir Alex Ferguson: Wayne Rooney will not leave Manchester United for Paris Saint Germain Rooney was deployed in a deep-lying role at West Ham, but Ferguson has stressed he has no set plans for this position in future. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/manchester-united/10005355/Sir-Alex-Ferguson-Wayne-Rooney-will-not-leave-Manchester-United-for-Paris-Saint-Germain.html This is the West Ham match. coogar: Not twice. Stoke West Ham Madrid home and away VILLA. 5 quick matches. When he was having a good time in the number 10 scoring freely, 11 goals in 12 matches. SAF liked to sacrifice Rooney. He like utilising his energy.

Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 12:26am On Jul 14, 2015 |
elampiro: madrid aren't a premier league side. rooney played 25 out of his 27 league games in the hole. the other 2 games were against stoke & villa. rooney played in the hole against west ham.
5 quick matches? a player who at that time was earning £250k per week? you & rooney aren't serious! elampiro: you like confusing yourself. speculation of rooney moving to PSG in this match was because SAF took rooney off & rooney wasn't happy about the sub. rooney played in the hole..... jones & carrick started the game, so where did rooney play? maybe jones or carrick were in the hole and rooney replaced one of them in the central midfield? abeg, stop arguing. all the passes rooney received that day is here with me & he was in the hole. 1 Like |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 12:37am On Jul 14, 2015 |
coogar: I dont trust your opta charts. Now are you saying he a was angry because he was subbed not because of number 9? We are getting there. Rooney played in the wing in Madrid and CM at OT. Was enough to get him angry. At same time he was prolific from the hole. Same period he was used in two or three league games in the midfield. These coupled with nine substitutions were enough for Rooney to ask questions. It has nothing to do with Van Persie. |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 12:39am On Jul 14, 2015 |
5 quick matches, yes. So Rooney should go play left back because he earns 250k? |

Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by codedguy1(m): 9:09am On Jul 14, 2015 |
parrotibaba: Are u sure? At real I could swear I saw him play mostly on the left. Its only in the national team I see him drift almost everywhere, left, right and center. He seems to be more effective playing on the leftwing or left midfield. |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by tess1(m): 9:13am On Jul 14, 2015 |
elampiro: I asked you about EPL games only but if you are including UCL then we should be talking about larger than 22 starts that i stated. Let's even accept that it's three games which i have my doubts about. You are now telling me that Rooney turned into a cry baby because of being used out of your supposed no 10 in just three games out 22 starts? As at 2012/13, Rooney have spent about 9years at Man Utd. Was that the first time he has been used out of position in three or more games? The fact has been established with these that it was top striker position that Rooney was talking about because he played the number 10 position mostly in that season. There was rarely a game that both Kagawa and Rooney played that Rooney was sacrificed for Kagawa in the no 10 position. Kagawa was the one sacrificed unless Rooney played up top. Rooney have been used out of position in his Man Utd appearances for more than three times in the past for him to then complain about mere three games. There is no need for any more argument about this because it has now been confirmed that Rooney was referring to the no 9 position as the upfront in his statement. |
